A rare and pretty antique Honiton English lace single cuff which was purchased from a closing down museum in America a couple of years ago. It dates between 1850-1890. It was hand made and features all sorts of exquisite details including flowers and leaves. It is very lightweight. Thin and soft yet strong. It is in good antique condition with only two quite easily repairable breaks and no staining. It measures approx 8 x 2 1/2 inches. A wonderful collectors piece. A beautiful pair of antique billowy sleeves with deep handmade Honiton guipure lace cuffs worked in linen thread. The sleeves have a pretty whitework enbroidered insertion trim for threading with ribbon along the lengh of the sleeves for stability and around the cuffs also. The lace sleeves are in excellent condition with just a small tear to the button hole on one of the cuffs and measure; Depth of Lace trim- 5 inches/ 12.5 cm Wrist- 6.5 inches/ 16.5 cm circumference Wrist to lowest point of pit(inclucing wrist trim) 15.5 inches/ 39.5 cm Wrist to shoulder(following the curve of sleeve) 29 inches/ 74 cm. FOUR LENGTHS OF VINTAGE HAND MADE HONITON LACE EDGING
Four lengths of vintage hand made Honiton bobbin lace edging in two different designs. One design is a simple circular'snail' type edging. Which is 1 3/4" 4.5cm) deep. One piece is 1.15 metres long and the other 0.50 metres long. They are both in very good vintage condition. The other design has an edging of typical Honiton flowers. It is 2 1/4" 5.5cm) deep. Both are 0.90 metres long and in very good vintage condition with one faint spot. I am happy to post abroad and always combine postage where ever possible. I have other linen and lace listed. TWO SECTIONS FROM A LATE VICTORIAN HONITON LACE BODICE - Hand Made
Two sections from a late Victorian bodice. That was made from Honiton hand made bobbin lace. They have a design of flowers and leaves There is a long straight section that may have been a collar. It is 21" 53.5cm) x 5 1/2" 14cm) and has finished edges on both sides, but not at the ends, so would have been cut from a flounce. The other section is shaped as a side bodice with a cut out for the armhole. It was also cut from the same flounce as the other piece and has a join to give shaping for the bust. It is 21" 53.5cm) long. The lace is in mainly. In good vintage condition, but there are breaks in it. I am happy to post abroad and always combine postage where ever possible. The cuffs are hand worked in white Honiton lace and once adorned a bridal gown dating to circa 1906. It has been kept in a private lace collection for many years which I have been lucky enough to recently acquire. The inner cuff measurement is 14 inches/36 cm in circumference and both are in good antique condition but one has a hole. See photo 4. Antique Honiton applique lace very lovely long stole
Antique very lovely soft net with handmade Honiton applique lace long stole. It measures 110 inches(280cm) long by 23 inches(58cm 5mm) wide. The is one repair which runs for 8 inches(20cm 5mm) which could be done again with a finer thread and a few very small pulls in the net the largest being 1cm( please see last 3 photo's) otherwise in good condition. A pair of Victorian hand made Honiton bobbin lace lappets. With a floral design and needle made leadwork and a needle made ground. They are 13 3/8" 34cm) long and 3" 7.5cm) across and in very good vintage condition with a broken piece of leadwork, shown in the last picture. 11 LOVELY UNUSED ANTIQUE HONITON LACE BUTTERFLIES FLORAL FOLIAGE MOTIFS This is an exquisite little group of 11 hand made Honiton bobbin lace butterflies anf floral motifs. As far as I know. Traditional honiton lace was made from putting together lots of these little motifs to create a finished article, it was a very time consuming process. The motifs would have been incorporated into a large, impressive lace panel. lovely delicate pieces for a collection. The larger butterfly measures about 2" by 1.5" or 5 cms by 3.5 cms. DORSET BUTTON This is a beautiful little Honiton bobbin lace collar made from fine linen thread with a sweet little Dorset Button on one side and a hand sewn button loop on the other for fastening. It is most likely late 19th century. There are traces of fine net attached to the neck where it was once part of a garment. It is in good condition. Minor wear, a pretty piece for a collection. Museum quality large Bertha Collar. Incredible artwork and craftsmanship! 23 inches across x 6 inches wide. App. 64 inches around outside edge. 33 inches around inside edge ~ please see photos of measuring tape for all measurements. Excellent condition: one flaw only- a very faint discoloration shown in last photo where the pencil is pointing. This is barely noticeable in normal lighting. I leave you with the contents of 5 boxes of antique lace from a country house in Northern England– a family collection dating back to the Victorian era- some beautiful antique costume items, Edwardian bedcovers, an extraordinary antique wedding tiara from Eastern France and more. Enjoy browsing, whilst I trawl the brocante markets of Western France in search of more treasure! From the collection of family lace I am listing this week.all Victorian and earlier lace. This lot consists of two envelopes of handmade lace- I am lisitng these as found. One is marked"Real Mechlin Lace" and other"Old Lace Honiton Cap" The first envelope contains 11 short lengths(up to 30cm long) of 4 different types of Mechlin lace. The other contains a handmade Honiton lace cap. I have not laundered the lace, and there are some marks and some holes- so therese are really for study of for the collector of samples. A lovely hoard. I am including all the original hand written labels where possible. More photographs below PLEASE READ. I sell antique and vintage textiles and ephemera- unique items that have history. And may show signs of this- it is part of their charm. I try to describe any obvious faults as truthfully as I can. The cap of the veil is handmade Honiton lace with clothwork, meshwork and nice defined ornaments. The back portion of the cap has beautiful delicate needlelace fills. The veil portion is handmade tambour lace with dimentional flowers and beautiful ornaments on a mesh ground. Really fabulous! C. late 1800's- early 1900's. Excellent condition- No damage noted. Crafted from gossamer super fine cotton lawn ~ soft and silky ~it features simply stunning Honiton lace ~so delicate it is breathtakingly beautiful to look at. The centre piece is a pretty scalloped shape to which has been attached the lovely lace with its floral motifs forming a highly decorative border. This has been carefully stored. It does have a very feint pattern mark at the edge of the centre piece but really hard to define. I have.
