Oscar Osorio was the President of El Salvador from 1950- 1956. This decanter and goblet were acquired through a sale in Miami so it is very possible that they belong(ed) to the estate of Oscar Osorio. There is no hallmark other than a hand etched VIII which appears on the decanter and the stopper(see pics) Decanter stands 13 1/2" which includes the stopper. The large decorative handle includes a small simple swivel mechanism to keep the handle snuggly between the flared side holders while holding the lid in place. The entire heavy piece is hand crafted of wood with a rustic reddish brown lacquered finish on the exterior that has achieved a wonderful aged patina.
