Vintage M.E. Church Canton, IL. Picture PAPER WEIGHT Methodist Episcopal
Offered for auction is a vintage M.E. Church Canton. IL. paper weight. This is a picture paper weight with an actual photo of the church surrounded in glass. There is a small decorative glass ruffle which surrounds and frames the image. The image has rounded corners and is old black and white or sepia. The condition of the picture is acid stained. While unfortunate. The chemicals used to create the vintage photo had this effect when sealed into the glass. It is an interesting effect– it’s an antique that looks like an antique. The glass is very clear on the paperweight with no scratches or defects. On the picture the power lines in front of the church can be seen; so. This lovely 1950 porcelain plate depicting St James Episcopal Church in Greenville. Mississippi from Homer Laughlin is certain to be a cherished addition to any collection or decor. For your consideration: VINTAGE Commemorative plate. Circa 1950s, image of Christ Church(Episcopal) 1795 Baltimore, Maryland, blue transfer on cream plate. This plate measures approximately 9-7/8" in diameter and is in very good condition. No chips, scratches, or cracks. There are three scuff marks on the back near the rim from plate hanger, and crazing in the glaze, to be expected with age. Cream-colored stoneware plate with raised urns& scrolls design around rim issued by Steubenville(Adams Antique" and then decorated with blue image of the church by Edwards China of Rock Hall, MD; both companies' stamps are on the back. Commemorates one of the oldest churches in the Baltimore: Christ Church(Episcopal) built in 1795; the church closed in 1986. Please see pictures and email any questions before bidding. VINTAGE 1900-10s GLENDALE METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH PENNANT NEW JERSEY YSSP OLD
Here is a neat old vintage OR really ANTIQUE pennant from the HISTORIC GLENDALE METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN THE GLENDALE SECTION OF VORHEES TOWNSHIP IN CAMDEN COUNTY NEW JERSEY. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. This is an Extra Large pennant at 40" long and 18" tall on the left side. It has sewn on letters and there is a sewn in tag on the back that I should have taken a pic of. This was made by Henry H. Michael Athletic Wear 914 Broadway Brooklyn New York. I have tracked that company down to being in business at that location in the late 1800's(see below sentences in lower font. Which came from another website) Broadway was cut through a hill from about Park Avenue to Myrtle and as late as 1870 farms were beyond Myrtle with rail fences along the roadway. At Gates Avenue was a deep depression ... moreand in the rainy season water coming from all four directions formed a pond there. CLARK residence stood at or near Belvidere Street. Theobald EUGELHARDT. Architect, started in 1875, 905, northeast corner Arion Place. He resided at 277 Hart Street. The former Arion Hall, 13 Arion Place. The Arion Society, founded 1865, in a school house in Williamsburgh, the hall was built in 1887. Henry STEINMEYER. Haberdashery, 913. H. H. MICHAELSON. Spoting goods store, 914. John H. HEISSENBUTTEL'S Rest. 916. George FORESTER. Painters supply store on Broadway in 1870, moving in 1879 across the street to#939. I really do not know the date of this pennant. But based on the tag and being familiar with other similar looking tags, I believe it is a very early 1900 pennant. I also found one other reference to the HH Michaelson and it was another tag on an early baseball glove. I do not know what the YSSP stands for. If a Methodist Episcopal church historian sees this and knows please let me know and I will pass it on. Super good looking pennant. Great colors. Very good quality felt/wool, nice and thick. For someone out there with ties to this church, this is an incredible piece of history and
