Charming 19th c Victorian Oak Marble Top Half Commode Washstand Nightstand Being presented for sale is this charming 19th century Victorian Oak Marble Top Half Commode/ washstand/ nightstand. We believe this piece to have its original finish as well as the original marble top and features substantial carved columns that flank the cabinet door with picture frame moldings and raised panels of oak accenting the door. This piece rests on four large bun feet and with the back being chamfered as well as the bottom side of the drawer. Its solid and tight with no issues noted other than normal wear from age and usage. This 19th century half commode is a perfect size to be placed about anywhere you need a small cabinet and would be a fabulous piece next to a bed for a nightstand. Carved ogee edges on marble tops. A carved solid wood framed mirror is attached to the back of each cabinet and can be removed and will be for shipping/moving. This is a matching pair in that one door opens on the left and the other cabinet has a door that opens to the right. Original bronze hardware. The inside of these cabinets is lined in a blonde veneer(most likely maple) Also there is a pull out drawer inside each. The legs are splayed. All three finished sides are bombe in style. Up for auction is this amazing estate find Octagonal Barley Twist table. Circa 1800's with a cane/rattan top. I can't be sure whether it is oak. Walnut or mahogany, French or American? The table stands 29" tall and 26" wide. There is a small hole in the cane as you can see(I believe it can be repaired) The table is showing slight signs of age and wear but it is in very good condition and very solid. Antique Mid 1800's Painted Candle Stand with Original Paint
This is an antique painted candle stand made in the mid 1800's with its original paint. This candle stand is about 26 inches tall and the top is around 15 7/8 inches in diameter. The top of this candle stand is a hand painted floral design with a bird flying in the middle. And two gold rings. One circles the floral design and the other is close to the perimeter. The legs are attached differently than most of the candle stands that I've seen. They used a mortise and tenon rather than a dovetail with metal braces. The legs and top are solidly connected with no loose parts to this candle stand. The top is actually dovetailed(very slight) into place using a tapered fit so the piece is larger on one side. They could only have put it together sliding the top in one direction because of the taper. There are some old screws that must have ... morebeen added along the way probably because the top loosened up. It is very secure now which means it is probably glued also. There are some age cracks on the top and some scratches here and there, but overall it's a very beautiful and an unusual piece. Please refer to the pictures and thanks for looking.
