ANTIQUE CARVED GOLD TONE WOODEN FRAME IN GOOD CONDITION circa 1910’s– 1930’s. Contains an antique colored print on textured paper–an unusual view of Venice and the Grand Canal. The antique print could be an illustration from a Victorian art book. Circa 1890’s. The print is in good condition– not stained. Not torn. The print is a little more narrow than the frame– see small space along top opening of frame. Unusual to see this view of the Grand Canal of Venice– seems like more of a back view than the traditional front view. Frame is gold tone with carved geometric outside border and inside carved edges around the opening for the glass. Corners are good no spaces. No wiggles to the frame. Some darkening to the gold gilt around the inside edges– see PHOTO– and maybe some old gold tone touch up long ago at the edges. Frame measures 7 ¾ inches ... moreby 10 ¾ inches from the outside. With an opening of 7 inches by 10 inches. Frame has glass and cardboard backing. Frame and contents weigh about 1 pound before any packing materials. The frame is almost 3/4 inch thick from the side. Victorian Lace and Silk Dress Bodice Front Leavers Mill"Venice Needle Lace" Description: Here is a fine little Victorian dress bodice front. Made, we assume, by Leavers Mills. It is their version of Punto Venezia lace. An excellent, inspired copy! Please enlarge our photos for a close up view of the lace and the little silk pleated ribbon that surrounds it. This bodice piece is about 15 1/2" long and 12" wide at the neckline. Condition of the lace is excellent- scrutinizing close up, we find only two tiny broken threads and one old repair. At the very bottom, the pleated silk shows a bit of wear- see our photo#5. It is absolutely minimal, and could be easily disguised by a well-placed bow or appliqué. We find no stains. You will notice in our first photo that the two top corners are not exactly symmetrical- not sure ... morewhy- possibly there was a repair on one side? We have carefully washed it for you. So it is ready to use or to archive when you receive it. This lace comes from the estate of Edwin Denison Morgan. One way to impress guests or even yourself was to offer a cup of liquer from an exquisite decanter set such as this. It has a large unmarked decanter( 13 inches) with a victrian boy and girl.Gondola,and country scenes all in silver overlay. The 5 cups are 2 1/2 by 3 3/4 inches tall with the same scene. They are a dark ruby red with a clear foot. When found, it was very tarnished and polished well, I used Tarn-x and toilet paper to polish. I found that it has a heavy layer of silver and no cracks, chips( 1 in 1 cup base) or unsightly scratches in the set. TAPESTRY FABRIC bought from an antique shop in Venice. Italy in the 1960’s. I always planned to use it to cover a cornice for a window. But never did. It has been carefully stored over the years in a smoke-free. Pet-free home. The tapestry fabric is circa 1950’s- 1960’s and is in good condition. Probably machine made– no threads showing through the back. SEE PHOTO OF BACK. Measurements of the fabric is 3 ½ yards(about 126 inches) long and 17 inches wide. Beige background with soft muted tones of green. Gold, and rose. Bottom edge is trimmed with gold tone tassels on a long fringe-type piece. One side end is stitched– like a selvage edge. Along the top is the same stitching. And one side end has been scissors-cut. A few minor flaws– a spot or two– very small and shown in my pictures.
