I am selling this extremely rare antique Islamic mosque lamp. The mosque lamp dates from the 19th Century during 1800's. it has been beautifully inlaid with silver and copper. There is breathtaking Arabic calligraphy and geometric patterns created from the silver inlay. Mosque lamps are very difficult to make as they have to have their design cut inorder to let the light shine through the empty spaces. It has been hand chased with THE MOST BEAUTIFUL designs I have come across. There is a large central motif with wild mythical beasts. Breathtaking birds and extremely well executed floral patterns all over. Two aspects of this tray make it a very rare and collectible item. First is the stunning and very dramatic lion- like beasts. The other one with the heart shaped knocker would have been used for the Ladies entrance of the building. So they have an interesting history behind them. The have a beaurtiful shape. For auction is this extremely rare. Museum quality antique 12th century Persian Khorasan ewer. The huge ewer is one of the largest I have sold on ebay. It has been chased all by hand with fantastic Kufic calliragphy. There is also a variety of animals including birds and deer and also mythical harpy figures. All the work would have of course been completed by hand. This item is genuine and guaranteed to be Persian and dating to 12th Century. The quality is beautiful. And this is a must have item for any collector of high quality Islamic antiques and antiquities. Size The height of the ewer is a huge 34.5cm = 13.6 inches. The ewer has some dents and holes and splits. But it is over 800 years old and would have been dug from underground so this is expected. Please see the photos shown below.
