The decoration is the same on both sides and there is a visible mould seam inside and out. The decoration is a group of two men on horseback- looks like they are fighting- and on the shoulder is a band of arabic script. ANTIQUE INDIAN/PERSIAN? BRASS PLAQUE- EMBOSSED RELIEF SCENE of KING. SOLDIERS ETC. Description. An unusual brass plaque embossed in shallow relief with figures that appear to tell a story. The central scene shows a family group seated between 2 elaborate columns with a tiled canopy above. The king/prince seated on a throne wearing an elaborate headress with birds/peacocks on top corners. This is bordered on either side by mounted soldiers and marching soldiers holding long flintlock muskets. With outer band that looks like script/calligraphy. Above this is a band of figures in a procession. Central group holding a palanquin. The lower band showing what appears to be a trial and execution scene. One figure holding a scroll and the figure that appears to be the king/prince seated on the far right presiding. The whole of this surrounded by elaborate ... morefloral border. I am not sure where this originally came from-possibly Indian or Persian? I estimate this dates late 19th but is possibly earlier. Size approx 18.1/2in x 14.3/4in(47.4 x 37.5cm) In good overall condition. But appears to have been mounted as there are several drilled holes. ANTIQUE 19th century ISLAMIC PERSIAN INDIAN HANDWORKED BRASS ROSEWATER SPRINKLER
Description This antique circa 19th century or earlier Islamic Persian or Indian rose water sprinkler. Is of gorgeous melon form probably cast in brass but with hand worked filing to all the ribs. It has a tapered spout attached with lovely old screw thread and the short stem spreading base has knurled rope twist at the top and lobed edge at the rim. This fabulous old piece has a strange groove decoration around the neck of the spout. Which we believe may have been caused by wire or cord bindings for suspension tied around and worn and etched into the metal over time with the action of dust and rosewater liquids helping the process, there are many other old dinks, marks and wear to the surfaces. There is old patination in the protected areas where polishing could not reach, the underside of the base has that lovely soft smooth feel you get ... moreon really old metalwork and there is a reddish patina to the inner edge of the spout where it screws in. It is in good condition apart from later old replacement nut holding the base to the body and set in place with solder(please see photos) Height 13.3cm. 5.1.4" unpacked weight 195 grams. Unusual Vintage Indian/Persian Islamic Ceramic & Brass Rosewater Sprinkler
Here on offer is a beautiful and unusual vintage Indian/Persian Islamic ceramic and brass rosewater. These lovely things were kept by the entrance of people’s homes across the Far East. They would be used to store rosewater and sometimes orange blossom water, which would be sprinkled on guests on arrival to freshen them up after their journey and to welcome them as an honoured guest. This gorgeous rosewater sprinkler is beautifully decorated with geometric patterns. The body of the sprinkler is made from a dark earthenware with a dark rich blue glaze. The ceramic body has gorgeous metal designs in deep relief held in position by twisted wires. Each of the geometrically shaped designs are decorated with foliate motifs. The twisted wires are silver in colour. The body that stores the rosewater or orange blossom water is a lovely generous sphere ... morewhich rises up into a brass dommed cap and then into a long slender neck. It is topped with a balustraded cap for sprinkling water. The neck unscrews to allow refilling the sprinkler. This great looking rosewater sprinkler is offered in good used vintage condition. The domed cap has a dent and the neck is not quite straight. The sprinkler measures about 23.5cm by 7.5cm and weighs 276g. A truly beautiful item. Beautiful Vintage Indian/Persian Islamic Enamelled Brass Rosewater Sprinkler
Here on offer is a beautiful vintage handmade Indian/Persian Islamic enamelled brass rosewater sprinkler. These lovely things were kept by the entrance of peoples homes across the Far East. They would be used to store rosewater and sometimes orange blossom water, this would be sprinkled on guests on arrival to freshen them up after their journey and to welcome them as an honoured guest. This gorgeous rosewater sprinkler is beautifully decorated with delicate stylised foliage and flowers that have been accented with red and black enamel. The sprinkler has a flared pedestal foot giving it a secure base. The body that stores the rosewater or orange blossom water is a lovely generous ribbed and shouldered vessel which rises up into a long slender neck. Indian Persian Pierced Brass Copper Round Box 18-19th Century
This is a stunning. Probably Kashmiri, box. I'm guessing it's from the mid-19th century. It is in very nice condition, as you can see in the photos, and all original parts are present. On the thin side with net weight of 535 grams. In excellent vintage as shown condition with wear. Patina, metal pitting, and oxidation as shown. The border has depictions of 12 animals. Elephants. Lions, Camels, Horses and other 4 legged Mammals. The background of the main border is done in the piercing/ filigree technique depicting circular type continuous arabesque ornamentation. There is also raised work on the outer border. One side is slightly dented at rim. Circa 1900, but(as I am not an expert) please make up your own mind about this. The vase measures approx 3 inches(75mm) in diameter. By 3 1/2 inches(90mm) tall. It is made from bronze and is extensively decorated with intricate hand engraved foliate designs. Measuring 23 inches x 7 1/2 inches wide x 3/4 inch deep, appears to be copper on brass inlaid with enamel, features two Peacocks either side of a flowered centre piece, the red sparkling enamel in the centre with the green edging and black enamel back ground, the tray is finished with fluted rim with scrolled handles.
