I am not really sure where it is from. I have been told it is 19th century Turkish or Persian, or maybe Indian. It is signed at the bottom but I cant really tell. Condition of the jug overy is good. It has got crackled glazed and mossy and dusty looking on top of surface. There is hairline cracked on the side of the jug( Not broken yet, but need to handle carefully) There is also reapired crack and little chip at the bottom of the lid itself as you can see on photos. Description This antique circa 19th century or earlier Islamic Persian or Indian rose water sprinkler. Is of gorgeous melon form probably cast in brass but with hand worked filing to all the ribs. It has a tapered spout attached with lovely old screw thread and the short stem spreading base has knurled rope twist at the top and lobed edge at the rim. This fabulous old piece has a strange groove decoration around the neck of the spout. Which we believe may have been caused by wire or cord bindings for suspension tied around and worn and etched into the metal over time with the action of dust and rosewater liquids helping the process, there are many other old dinks, marks and wear to the surfaces. There is old patination in the protected areas where polishing could not reach, the underside of the base has that lovely soft smooth feel you get ... moreon really old metalwork and there is a reddish patina to the inner edge of the spout where it screws in. A superb. Top-quality, intricately detailed tray, finely engraved and chased with a paisley or Boteh pattern overlaid with writhing plant forms and berries and a border of peacock rosettes. Rectangular form with a waisted oval well. 19th century Persian museum quality silver & enamel inlaid tray Islamic Art
This jewel-like calligrapher’s tray is a work of art in the literal sense. It features museum quality design carved or chased into the bronze or brass. Filled with silver and black enamel work. Every millimetre of the tray is decorated and the quality if each tiny section of the design is high throughout. One of the things that I just love about this piece is that the artist has made sure that the design feels subtly‘alive’ by not sticking to a strictly symmetrical pattern. Although it seems perfectly symmetrical at fist, you’ll notice that if you study it on one side of a beautifully sinuous foliage design he has chased in an additional lotus bloom and single silver leaf, reflecting the true beauty of the natural world. There are stunning instances of this all over the piece. The hand that made this was extraordinarily skilled. Each tiny ... morebloom, leaf or star is done in different metals, so tiny individual petals are gold, next to silver. The central motif appears to be six lamps with lotus blooms curling around them. The border to the tray looks almost like butterfly wings. The back of the piece is‘tinned’ or silvered. It’s a thick covering of another silver metal, not a thin plating method. Only on the corners has it worn through after many years. Late 18 th century or early 19 th. Not a tourist piece. No reserve. It has a few issues. Sections of the black enamel have disappeared at both ends of the tray(where you grip it and one one side a little way into the base of the tray) There is a small dent to one small section of the rim and a small nibble to the metal on the rim(all clearly photographed) Luckily this does not detract at all as the metalwork is still pristine. It is heavy at just under 1.5 kg’s. It is 40cm’s long and 24cm’s wide.

It is finely hand worked in nice solid copper of round form with applied lobed edge to the rim. The centre of the well has a panel of figures. Including a Persian King, possibly Shah Abbas surrounded by servants, musicians and dancer all hand worked in chasing, engraving, wrigglework and punch work. LARGE ANTIQUE ISLAMIC PERSIAN ? INDIAN POTTERY VASE, 19TH CENTURY OR EARLIER
This is a large Islamic Vase dating from at least the 19th century and possibly much earlier. Looks a good early piece this one as you will see on the photos of the underside. I thought it was Indian at first but then maybe it's persian because of the bird decoration. I'm sure that collectors of Islamic pottery will know. It's been repaired many years ago around the middle of the body. I have included photos of the inside so you can see and also the outside where you will see a line. There is a very small hole situated close to that line which you will see it on photo 9. At the top of the vase you will see a small fresh chip. Please note I have now found the missing piece since I took the photos. It's a bit worn down/ rubbed on the edge but at least the piece is now there and can be attached by somebody who knows what they ... moreare doing. There is a faint crack running from the chip that is about 2 cm below the top rim. This runs half way around the vase and is a bit loose by the chip. I suspect somebody has been lifting the vase from the top which has made it slightly fragile in that area. Excellent colours and designs and a very interesting piece of Islamic pottery. The inside is painted in a silver colour and there are definate signs of age but no damage. The finish is rough inside and out and it is also hollow.
