For Sale! Hi. Here we have a nice antique Ernst Leitz Wetzlar microscope and two Spencer accessories for it. These were my Dad's and I really don't ... moreneed them or use them. He used them to look at really small rock samples I believe for prospecting. What the two accessories for it do. I don't know or if they work properly or not. They appear to be in good shape and offhand, look like some kind of adapters so two people can look at the same thing at the same time, but I haven't tried them. They look to be in pretty good shape as the pictures show. I'm sure somebody out there knows what they are. They are in seperate boxes marked Spencer, Buffalo NY. The one that has 90 degree angled eyepeices has a 6x and a 10x eyepeice and the eyepiece on the long tube can rotate around. It's in the black box and that's nice. The brown box is a bit rougher and it has one that is at an angle and has two 6x eyepeices. The microscope has Ernst Leitz Wetzlar on it and is marked No. 291286. I don't know if that's a model number or a serial number. It has a 10x eyepiece and two magnifying lenses. Once is a number 3 and the other is a 6L. I don't know what the numbers mean. You can look through it and see light via the mirror so I believe it will work. The mirror can be moved around and there is an iris mechanism above the mirror that works via an arm. Both the knob sets turn smoothly. It's been used as it has some scratches and paint loss here and there and some light corrosion on various parts as you can see in the photos. But overall I don' think it's in too bad a shape. I know he rarely took it out and kept it put away almost all the time. I don't know how old it is. That's about all I can say about it. What you see is what you get! Please ask any questions before bidding and thanks for looking Get it here far cheaper than at other places. Don't blink or it will be gone! PAYMENT. SHIPPING and OTHER: I can do local pickup or ship it to you. Buyer responsible for all shippi

The brochure consists of 29 pages of pictures and text; it measures 10 3/4 by 8 1/4 inch. The 1987 business card of the Zeiss representative is included. Condition. The condition is excellent. Vintage Antique Brass Leitz Microscope circa 1894 - Leica "cousin"
This offering is a rather simple brass microscope. From Ernst Leitz, Wetzlar(Germany) the same firm which made the classic Leica Cameras(although this was made long before any Leica Cameras were made) Leica is short for LEItz CAmera) It is rather handsome, simplistically functional, and in my opinion is very attractive on a shelf. Most of the original lacquer is still present. And adds to the attractiveness. It is engraved: E. Leitz Wetzlar- New-York No 30069. Which identifies it as mfg. about 1894, per Bracegirdle's book: Notes on Modern Microscope Manufacturers" The New York address was a sales agency- Leitz microscope manufacture was in Wetzlar. From the beginning(1849) still is. Interestingly, the present new microscopes are now called"Leica" though"Leica" was originally, and for many years, the name of the ... morevery fine and very popular camera made by Leitz, Wetzlar, in Wetzlar. The precision column top knob fine focus. And sliding tube coarse focus still function very well, and the eyepiece and objective do function also. I would not expect this to serve well enough to win you a Nobel Prize, however, while it is not really a very useful microscope, it does work- To demonstrate that, I just put a piece of multi-colored cloth on the stage, illuminated it from above with my pocket LED penlight, and took the picture shown(last above) of black thread crossing colored threads under rather high magnification- just holding my Nikon Coolpix up to the eyepiece, as steadily as I can. I think of this as more something quite attractive. Historic, and interesting to look at, rather than to really use- it is as shown- no case, no extra parts, no sub stage, just a very basic stand- I have kept it on a shelf for years, where it looks quite attractive, and evokes interest. Height measures from 10 to 13 inches, depending on the tube expansion, base is about 3" by 3 1/2" and stage is about 2" by 3" Wt. is est. at 2 lbs. All metal(mostly brass) and a little glass) No Plastic! You get

Antique Brass and Metal Spencer Microscope with E L Wetzlar Attachment No 24832
Antique Brass and Metal Spencer Microscope with Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Attachment and Spencer Illuminator Serial No 24832 All items in our store include NO sales tax to our US customers! Here is a great older brass microscope for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. There were 10 microscopes recently at a high end auction that appeared to be from someone's collection or a high end store that dealt in them. I acquired 6 of them. Here is another one of them. The other microscopes will be made available for sale separately at my eBay store over the next few days as well. The microscope scope and the lens and objective case and dials are made of brass. There is some corrosion to the brass and painted surfaces in places. The black painted part of the microscope stand is some sort of other metal. There is a 6x and 10x ... moreeye lens with the scope. Also a 3x with the scope that is not the right diameter. There are no date. The serial number of 24832 on the microscope would make it as having been produced around 1914 to 1915. There is also a Spencer illuminator with the microscope that has a great vintage power cord on it. The illuminator lights up when plugged in. There is a clear and blue lens inside. The reflector is still behind the bulb. The microscope also has some sort of brass Ernst Leitz Wetzlar attachment on it for moving the specimen around both horizontally and vertically on the observation plate. This is a really nice attachment and in very nice condition. The mirror at the bottom of the scope is two sided. Not cracked or blistered, but the mirrored surface does show some wear. The glass for the lens and objective are dusty and may have some minor scratching. I see no blistered cracked or missing glass in the lenses or objectives. The microscope is 12.25" tall. By 6" across, by 6.75" wide. Nice what appears to be the original wood case, missing the original wood drawers. Case is intact, still has its' lock, no key. The objectives are a 1.8mm, a 4mm and a 6mm. Handle
ANTIQUE MELOPHAGUS OVINUS SHEEP TICK MICROSCOPE SLIDE ALBERT GALIGHER BERKELEY
I found this antique prepared microscope slide mixed in a large lot of Botany slides I recently acquired. The slide is labeled" NO 2923. Melophagus Ovinus, Entire, Albert E. Galigher, Berkeley California" Melophagus Ovinus is a Sheep ked These flies are often known as keds or hippoboscids. They are medium sized wingless flies with the head not distinct from the thorax. The eyes are inconspicuous and the body covered with bristles and setae. They are not typical cyclorrhaphan flies because of the adaptations of the adults to an ectoparasitic life. Melophagus ovinus. The sheep ked, established itself in the cooler areas of the tropics and can be mistaken for a tick. However, only larval ticks have six legs and sheep keds are much larger than larval ticks; nymphal and adult ticks have eight legs, and in all ticks the body is not divided ... moreinto head, thorax and abdomen. As you can see in the picture the slide has a thick gold tone ring around the specimen. The slide is in nice condition. Thanks for looking!
