French brass nineteenth-century field microscope
There are no letters. Symbols or numerals on any surface of this that I can see. The lower objective is missing the glass lens. The mirror and its gyro mount are missing. The lower lens stage bezel unscrews smoothly. As well as the base. The upper two stages allow unscrewing with little resistance. The center stage threads to the bottom are not responsive and may be frozen. I don't think this is solid brass. It is probably plated. For parts or repair. No returns. Incomplete. For decoration purposes only.

The microscope is made of brass with a turned handle and has loads of patina with age as seen in the photos, the microscope unfolds as shown with quite a strong magnifying lens that is in good working order, there is a slide incorporated but not sure if there was a part that is missing that may have held a specimen but not certain, the microscope comes with its original case as shown that is in good condition for its age, the microscope measures 3 x 2 inches when unfolded and in good condition just general minor wear and tear with age
Vintage Antique Model BB Bausch & Lomb Brass Copper Microscope in Original Case
What a great find. Looks like a beautiful museum piece. For it's age I would say condition is decent. Microscope moves and appears to function but the lens are dirty and need to be cleaned. To be fully functional I would believe it needs a good thorough cleaning/ oiling ect. It appears to be mostly complete. Pictures show the different lens and eyepieces that are included. The wooden case has some wear. It has a crack on one side but is still solid and working. The lock is broken and appears the key broke off inside of it. For this item please inspect and study the images as they are your best description. There should be no need for returns but as an antique item like this it sells for AS IS. I don't know much about these items and am just hoping it finds the good and right home. It will be shipped carefully and insured. No returns ... moreplease!

Antique Vintage German E. Leitz Wetzlar Brass Microscope #152080 Steampunk
Antique German brass microscope. Marked: E. Leitz Wetzlar Germany No.152080 Good vintage condition; there are some signs of wear: there is a chip on two of the corners of the flat surface where the slide goes. The japanning on the cast iron base shows wear. It came from the estate of a doctor who had a large collection of microscopes. This was on a shelf in his home library. It appears to have been well taken care of. As to whether it is in working condition. My best guess is that it probably is functional, considering where it came from and how it was stored and displayed. I am not a science person, nor an expert on microscopes, and only remember how to use one from high school science classes, but from what I can see, it is in very good condition, and the knobs rotate freely and easily. It is heavy and weighs about 8 lbs. Does not have ... morea case. Please see photos and feel free to contact me if you have questions. I pack carefully and usually ship on the next business day after payment clears. Thank you for your bid!

Large Antique Brass Microscope by J. B. Dancer- Optician- Manchester(UK) Although in very good mechanical condition much of the original clear lacquer is deteriorating or missing from this instrument. This is most evident on the foot. Support standards and stage. This Microscope has an unusual stage motion which is achieved through a complex(for the time) centering mechanism. The stage is controlled by 2 knurled disc screws set at 45 degrees to the stage. A front to back sliding slide-holder rides in grooves set in the upper stage platform. No condenser or other sub stage components are present. The Flat mirror shows deteriorated silvering however the Convex mirror is in good condition with slight deterioration mostly at the edges. The tube length is adjustable through use of a telescoping inner-tube which has a usable extension of about ... more4&1/2" The coarse focus rack and pinion are in very good condition with no missing or damaged teeth. The focusing range is long at nearly 5" The fine focus control is of a type common with instruments from this period and uses a knurled wheel screw- set close to the objective- to drive a lever used to move only the objective mount. The foot's aft limb is stylishly engraved with: J. B. You are invited to purchase a superb example of one of Joseph Zentmayer’s most popular antique brass binocular microscope models along ... morewith a dovetailed Walnut wood cabinet that houses the instrument and some complimentary accessories. Featured here is a very nice example of the binocular version of Zentmayer’s famous “United States Army Hospital Microscope.” Joseph Zentmayer is identified as the maker of this instrument as it is signed. “J. Zentmayer, Philadelphia,” in fancy script on the top of the rear tripod foot(see close-up image) This instrument also bears the inscription, “Patented 1876.” This patent date refers to US Patent No. 181,120 that was granted to J. Zentmayer on August 15, 1876 for three(3) improvements to the design of the microscope including, 1. The swinging substage illumination apparatus, 2. An improved method of attaching the stage to the stand, and 3. A through the limb long lever type fine focus mechanism. All of these patented improvements are found on this instrument. In addition, this microscope bears the serial number, “4425,” which dates the instrument to circa 1880. Zentmayer first introduced this model microscope in the year 1862. Superb Large Brass Microscope by Powell & Lealand,170 Euston Road, London. 1866
Superb Large Brass Microscope by Powell& Lealand.170 Euston Road, London No. 1 Model, 1866- with Carl Zeiss sub-stage and optics. This Microscope is a superb example of the best and most sophisticated instruments available at the time(Mid-Late 19th. c) Its original cost was probably more than that of a nice house! The P&L instrument components date from the mid production period for the P&L No. 1 Model. The instrument is in very good mechanical condition with a patina and lacquer aging that give the microscope an appearance suited to its age. This is a beautiful and dominating piece and well represents the superb craftsmanship of these two well known and highly regarded microscope makers. The stage and sub-stage is by Carl Zeiss. Jena(almost certainly added as a modification/ upgrade at a later date- probably in the early 20th. ... morec) and shows a degree of sophistication typically only found in the very best microscopes from the period. The condenser has a swing-out filter holder and iris. The iris mount has a precision adjustment for centering(rotation and lateral positioning) with control through a knurled knob driving a rack and pinion. The position is referenced against a graduated and numbered scale. The entire condenser mount is focused through a knurled knob and rack and pinion. The iris control is also engraved with a graduated numbered scale. The stage slide-holder motion is very similar to that of modern microscopes with X and Y controls conveniently positioned close together on the same side of the stage. The front to rear motion control is fitted with a lock-arm and one of the the slide clamp arms is adjustable to accommodate slides of different lengths. Both X and Y motions are fitted with numbered vernier scales. As is typical with microscopes from this time the tube length(and thereby magnification) is adjustable through extension of a large diameter inner telescoping tube. The tube has a usable extension up to about 3& 3/4" At that time Zeiss was manufacturing the P&L optics f
Rare Antique Brass Binocular Microscope Chadburn Bros C1870
Antique Brass Binocular Microscope By Chadburn Bros C1870 This massive but elegant 19th Century binocular microscope is signed on the foot" CHADBURN BROS SHEFFIELD" The Chadburn bothers worked in Sheffield from 1837-1875 and were makers of mathematical and philosophical instruments for HRH Prince Albert. They also exhibited at the Great Exhibition in 1851. The microscope is constructed of lacquered brass. The instrument has the two eye pieces at the top of the binocular tubes which can be adjusted via the rack and pinion at the bottom of the tube above the nose piece sits the draw which holds the Wenham prism. Focusing is via the two large turned knobs and fine focus which is at at the rear of the tubes. The mechanical stage has X Y adjustment. Substage is the plano-concave mirror which features a gimbal. It is supported by a heavy ... moreY shaped foot and two uprights. The binocular body tubes can also be removed via another turned knob. The instrument comes in its mahogany large box with carrying handle( no key) but has hook and eye closure. It measures 60cm. 23 inch fully extended. I have added a bug spike and 3 objectives but it would benefit from a objective more fitting for a quality instrument of this standard. Mechanically and cosmetically in excellent condition and retaining 95% of its original lacquer. This large Victorian microscope should appeal to the connoisseur collector of rare microscopes by this particular maker. shipping £14.99 UK Europe £40 USA £70

You are bidding on a Bausch& Lomb Cast-Iron-and-Brass ANTIQUE MICROSCOPE c.1920s or Earlier* 75X and 322X Magnifications The photos included above WERE taken through this microscope. I purchased this from a lady in Westerly. RI, who told me it had belonged to her great uncle, who used it when he was a chemist back in the 1920s. My guess is it may be a 1915 model. What's Included in This Auction: Bausch& Lomb Microscope consisting of. 1 ocular: 7.5x- 2 objective lenses: 4mm(43x) and 16mm(10x) Coarse and fine focus knobs- 2-sided mirror- Iris diaphragm" Stage clips Q: Is anything else included with this auction? A: Only what appears in the photos is included. NO CASE. NO EXTRA LENSES. NADA. Condition Details- PLEASE READ! The microscope itself is tested and in fully-operational condition. I find nothing broken. Jammed, or"questionable. ... moreThe black enamel, as well as all the brass parts, have a"timeworn patina. Very nice. But this is NOT the shiny specimen some people might want for a museum. The iris is fully working. But very dusty. See photo. It simply needs to be removed from the microscope and properly cleaned. The stage clips have a lot of surface oxidation. And one of the original nuts has gone missing. See photo: As you see, I'll send you the one remaining stage clip nut, but there are 2 replacement nuts as well. They're metric- M3(5) knurled nuts, and they aren't the same shape as the originals, but they DO work. PLEASE supersize and examine all photos for carefully for condition detail. Important! FRANCE ANTIQUE BRASS MICROSCOPE WITH VARLEY LEVER STAGE – CIRCA 1870 You are invited to purchase a very rare French-made antique brass monocular achromatic microscope equipped with a modified Varley Lever Stage. This instrument is signed in fancy script on the front face of the body tube. “Doninelli, Opticien, Nice”(see close-up image) There is no serial number on the microscope. I would venture to state that most collectors of antique microscopes ... morehave probably never encountered an antique brass microscope made by this French optician. In fact, most antique microscopes originating from the nation of France come from various relatively well-known manufacturers based in Paris, e.g. Nachet, Harnack, Verick, Chevalier, etc. to name just a few. To find an antique brass microscope originating from a maker from Nice on the French Rivera has got to be quite unusual and uncommon to say the least. After an extensive amount of research. I was able to find precious little information on the optician Doninelli from Nice, France. But, here is what I did find out: Theodore Doninelli evidently founded the Doninelli optical firm in Nice. France in the year 1830. This firm produced a variety of optical and scientific instruments including barometers, sighting compasses, meteorological instruments, binoculars, opera glasses, spectacles, and microscopes. In 1868, the firm was listed as being located at 7 Rue Saint Francois de Paule in Nice. By the year 1903, the firm was under the direction of Victor Doninelli, who was located at 15 Avenue de la Gare in Nice. At this time, the firm’s main efforts were evidently directed towards producing

This microscope does not bear any maker’s name or serial number. But it very closely matches a microscope offered by James W. Queen& Company of Philadelphia, PA USA under their Catalogue ... moreNumber 1663. Accompanying this listing is an image of this microscope extracted from my personal library copy of the Queen’s 1870“ Priced And Illustrated Catalogue Of Optical Instruments. Made, Imported And Sold, Wholesale& Retail, by James W. Queen& Co. The similarities to the listed instrument are readily apparent. Based on its overall design Queen most likely imported this model from Europe. Possibly from France, for sale in the USA. It most likely dates from circa 1870. This antique brass microscope will make a nice addition to any antique microscope collection. DETAILED DESCRIPTION: This all-brass microscope is built upon a wide flat Y-shaped tripod foot of black lacquered metal. Rising from the rear of the foot is a very short ball shaped pillar that contains a compass joint. Rising from the compass joint is a tall cylindrical brass pillar that supports the stage and the rest of the instrument. This configuration allows the microscope to be tilted to various angles from the vertical for the comfortable viewing of specimen slides mounted on top of the stage. Just above the bottom of the pillar is a 30mm diameter single-sided concave mirror that is mounted on

Antique French Victorian Brass Microscope w/light magnifier & nice storage box.
This is a no reserve auction. If you collect scientific instruments. You will want to see this item. You are looking at a beautiful French made 19th century Victorian, turret-less microscope of beautifully polished brass. When the two beautiful telescopic shiny brass tubes are fully extended the microscope stands a full 15 1/2" tall. With the tubes fully retracted, it stands 11 1/2" tall and stands on a sturdy 3 1/4" W x 5 1/4"L, base. The stage that the specimen slide rests on is 3" x 2 1/2" It is focused in 3 ways. The general focus is attained by pulling out the upper tube to get in the general focusing range. Once you have the range, you attain a finer focus with the vertically mounted brass knobs on either side of the ocular tube. On the lower powered lenses, this is generally all that is needed to bring ... morethe specimen into crystal clarity. On the higher powered lenses, a yet finer focus can be attained by turning the horizontally mounted brass knob on the backside of the microscope. The microscope and its' accessories comes in a beautiful wooden box measuring 12 1/4"H x 6 1/2"W x 3 3/4" D, with storage for the(4) black eyepieces numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 and(3) brass lenses numbered 1, 2& 3. There is also a beautiful light magnifier mounted on a beautiful brass stand, which has a compound hinge that enables you to set it up at any angle, in any position around the microscope to magnify light into the mirror so as to sufficiently light the prepared slide. There is also a pair of tweezers, a scalpel and a pointed probe for dissecting and preparing specimens for viewing. Underneath the stage(which is the platform that the slide sits on) is an adjustable shutter that closes and opens to enable you to let in the amount of light necessary to see the specimen at its' maximum advantage.
