This brass drum microscope has its' original fitted case, accessories and they are in "as found" condition. There are no cracks or chips to the brass ... morethat I can find and it has retained much of its' original lacquering, however, there are some losses in places, as well as the usual scratches, scuffs and use marks that you expect from a used item of this age. The drawertube moves up and down smoothly, but its is a little loose and requires a twist to keep it in place. There are no cracks or chips to the single sided mirror and it has retained its' much of its' silvering, but there is some foxing. There are sis lenses, these are numbered 1-6 and I can't see any crack to the glass elements of these.

J. Beck of London. The name of the microscope model. Name of the manufacturer and serial number ... moreare clearly identified in raised block letters engraved into the circular brass base as follows: “UNIVERSAL MICROSCOPE, R. J. BECK, LONDON, 4963.” The Serial Number “4963” dates this instrument to the year 1866. This superb antique brass microscope is in very good to excellent optical, mechanical and cosmetic condition. Its design is of special interest in that it features a unique fusee chain focus system that was first invented by the English optician, William Ladd, in the year 1851. Included with the instrument is a very nice dovetailed Mahogany wood cabinet with working lock and key. When the"Universal Achromatic Microscope" its full name) was introduced by the Beck firm in the early 1860s. It met with almost immediate enthusiastic acceptance. It proved to be an economical good working microscope for the medical student on a budget, as well as, a very practical instrument for the common man interested in botanical and natural history investigations. This instrument sold for just 5 Guineas in England in 1862 and for about $50 in the USA in 1873. In the year 1861. Richard Beck published a full description of this microscope model in the Transactions of the Microsco

Antique brass inclining Gould-type microscope, 1830-40s.
Due to some new priorities I clear now a section of my collection of antique field microscopes in favor of other models. Between June and August 2013 I will gradually list some high end single and compound microscopes. All dating to the 2 nd half of the 17 th. The 18 th. And the early 19 th centuries. If you are a serious collector. Please follow my lists. I will neither provide BIN prices nor sell outside of eBay, so please avoid addressing me with such requests. Please read carefully the following report. The figures are an integral part of this description. Offered for auction is an antique Gould type microscope. Dating to the first half of the 19 th century. The microscope is unsigned. It comes with two objectives. A Huygenian ocular, three French small slides(one broken) and a nice lacquered mahogany box lined with blue-purple velvet ... moreinside. The microscope is most likely English. Dating to the 1830-40s and it is unsigned. Made of polished lacquered brass and standing mounted in the top of the dovetailed fitted mahogany case, the body tube screws into an arm at the top of the heavy rectangular column. The column has a compass joint at the bottom to incline the microscope for use and a large threaded fitting to screw the column into a brass plate in the top of the box. The stage focuses by pinion drive on a rack cut into the back of the column. A one sided mirror is mounted on an adjustable bracket below the stage. The last photo. Of the head of a flea from one of the three slides, was taken under the highest magnification of this microscope using the original optics. The optical quality of this microscope is quite remarkable and it is much higher than that of the common Cary-Gould models. The microscope has three magnifications: the lower magnification objective is permanently attached to the bar(I did not attempt to"plier" it off) This way, the instrument can be used as a single microscope. With the addition of the tube, a mid-range magnification is achieved. When the second objective is attached t

The instrument comes in a very nicely fitted Mahogany case. This microscope is signed. Albeit quite faintly, on the right side of the horseshoe shaped foot, E. In fact, its provenance is from the laboratories of the University of California, USA(see below for details) However, fortunately, inside the door to the case is a card with a Table of Magnifications that contains the serial number of the instrument, “53154.” The card indicates that this instrument was manufactured on 26th day of March 1900(see close-up image of this card) Accompanying this listing is a cut of this microscope model

ANTIQUE BRASS J ZENTMAYER Monocular MICROSCOPE PAT DATED AUG 1876 HISTOLOGICAL
ANTIQUE BRASS J ZENTMAYER Monocular MICROSCOPE PAT DATED AUG 1876 HISTOLOGICAL DESCRIPTION Here is a beautiful antique brass J Zentmayer microscope with patent date Aug 1876. Everything is shown in the images. The base is marked with J Zentmayer and patent date see images. I do not know much about microscopes. So I will describe to the best of my ability. This is a beautiful antique microscope made by the well know Joseph Zentmayer. from the internet: He was born in Germany. In 1826, Zentmayer emigrated to the United States, as a young man, already trained in optics and instrument making. He went into business in 1853, in Philadelphia, making his first large stand, the Grand American) around 1858. Over several decades, Zentmayer turned out a great variety of stands, from the elaborate"American Centennial" to the smaller"American ... moreHistological" and, earlier, the"United States Army Hospital" stand. Zentmayer's business remained in Philadelphia until his death in 1888, and, was carried on by his sons into the mid-1890's. The microscope is monocular. I believe it is a histological scope and is missing the mirror assembly that attaches under the platform and lenses. The previous owner made this into a kaleidoscope of some sort, so when you look into it you see a kalaidoscope pattern, this fitting slips right out. The microscope makes a beautiful display and could be used for parts or possibly restore, so it is being sold as is. A beautiful microscope to add to your collection. See images and email any questions. Keep watching for more vintage and estate items being offered now and upcoming. Combined shipping is welcome. We continue to offer an interesting array of antiques and collectible items now and upcoming. Save us to your favorites. Keep watching. Our Promise: Accurate Description. Good Communication, Thorough Packing, Timely and Very Reasonable(No Profit) Shipping, and Money Back if Inadvertently Misrepresented. We do pack extremely well although it items are lost or broken d

Antique Early 1900's E. Leitz Wetzlar Polished Brass Microscope w/ Case + More
This is a Antique E. Leitz brass microscope. The microscope has many polished brass parts and it appears to me to be complete and original. But I am not familiar with microscopes so please view the pictures to judge for yourself. Included is some original accessories, including 2 brass cases for the lenses, and some sort of brass rod with a threaded end. The case included does fit the microscope, but I do not be-leave it to be original to the scope, it looks like a newer case used to keep the microscope safe. Still a great collector and conversation piece for any medical collector. All parts on the microscope move freely and smoothly, and nothing appears to be broken, bend, or repaired.

antique brass magnifier / linen tester or Simple Microscope. No Reserve
Brass adjustable focus magnifier which pivots on its base plate. Likely to be 19th century. The base plate is marked with numbers and letters designating the openings. The openings on the baseplate(from smallest to largest) read: 1/10 P 5 M/M(The opening is 5mm square. 1/4P EP(6.5mm square. MICROSCOPE. ELEGANT VICTORIAN BRASS BULLS-EYE CONDENSER
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE ELEGANT VICTORIAN BRASS BULLS-EYE CONDENSER I have the pleasure of offering an elegant Victorian brass bulls-eye condenser for the microscope. A stand-alone condenser was an indispensable accessory for working with the limited light sources available to Victorian microscopists. Some microscopes had a bulls-eye condenser attached to the microscope tube by means of an articulate arm; those that didn’t. Which were in the majority, depended on the help of condensers as the one offered here. This condenser consists of a base. A pillar, an arm, and an intermediate piece that connects the arm with the pillar. The weighted base is 8 cm wide, and shows decorative circles on its upper surface. The pillar is 20.4 cm tall; the arm is 13.7 cm long and holds the brass ring that encircles a lens 5 cm in diameter. ... moreThe horizontal intermediate piece is 5 cm long and has a milled-head knob at each end. The function of the intermediate piece is to hold the arm at the desired height, and to secure the lens at the desired angle(please, see pictures) The whole can be easily taken apart for storage or shipping. The condition of the brass is very good to excellent for an object more than 100 years old; noticing some light surface corrosion in a few small spots(see photographs) The lens is in perfect condition. This is a no return auction. Please see the photographs and ask questions before bidding. Thanks and good luck!

Antique brass single lens field microscope
Please read carefully the following report. The figures are an integral part of this description. Offered for auction is a unique and very interesting antique brass single lens microscope. Probably made in the mid-19th century. The microscope comes with a nice case. I don't know if it originally belonged to it(but this way I bought it) I add to it two contemporaneous small frame French-made slides mounted by the Bourgogne Brothers. The last photo is of a flea from one of these slides, as seen through this microscope. There are several similar microscopes in existing collections(like that of the Royal Microscopical Society) But none is identical. It seems that such field microscopes were made in small numbers and with great variability. SHIPPING(please read carefully! Shipping is made promptly(within a day) after receiving cleared payment ... moreby EMS(Express Mailing Service) PLEASE NOTE: sometimes items are held by the customs for longer periods of time. In the very unlikely case of a problem. Please do not open a case against me before contacting me first! You will be provided with the tracking number to follow the item and I will sort out any delay and refund you in full in case of any reasonable loss. I emphasize this issue. Although it happened to me only once(as compared with over 150 successful transactions as a seller) Please be patient, as it is beyond my powers to control the customs in your country. In my experience, usually there are no problems of this kind but here and there they may occur. Shipping charges: I DO NOT OVERCHARGE FOR SHIPPING! Nor do I charge for the often expensive packing materials and handling. Which I do with great care. Because eBay does not allow multiple shipping fees, I must specify a high fee. However I will refund you immediately for any excessive sum. Exactly to the true shipping fee.
