1880's Important Large English Brass Microscope 1880. Original Case
Important English Brass Microscope Made in 1880. Complete. In Working Order and in Original Case Big English brass microscope made in England in the late 19th century(year 1880) This beautiful antique instrument is in perfect condition and has been carefully restored. It is a very remarkable piece because of its fine design. And is complete and preserves all its original components. The microscope comes in its original wooden case and is accompanied by some spare pieces and samples on glass plates, prepared just when the microscope was first used. In essence, this wonderful vintage microscope and the pieces that come with it make up a highly interesting item. The microscope looks shiny. Neat and polished thanks to the careful restoration it has undergone. As well as the typical parts that usually conform these instruments, this one has also ... morea micrometrical adjustment system to move the samples: by turning the wheel to the right of the user he or she can move the samples from left to right, forwards and backwards so it does not have to be touched with the fingers. Like the rest of the microscope, this system is greatly preserved and works like new. The eyepieces. Objectives and the mirror located under the sample plate are original and have survived to our days in perfect conditions. The box designed to store the microscope is made of solid mahogany wood; it has been conveniently restored and boasts a beautiful satin finish, but the signs of the use and the trace of time have been preserved as a testimony of the instrument’s life and history. The upper brass handle is also the original one. Inside the box we can see a small wooden drawer designed to store some labeled glass plates with handwritten inscriptions in different colors. There are also some brass spare pieces. This striking vintage microscope is a museum piece because of its beauty and big size. Joining beauty in equal measure. Measurements: Width: 180 mm. Height: 470 mm. I think I left nothing in the description but if I forgot something. I'll be gl

Antique naturalists' brass compass microscope
Please read carefully the following report. The figures are an integral part of this description. Offered for auction is a naturalists' compass microscope in the style of the mid-18 th century. Description: Shaped like a true compass. The body, object forceps and lens holder are made of brass but the lens is equipped with silver Lieberkühn(now having black patina but it can be easily cleaned) Focusing is done by moving the object arm. Which has an inner joint in the middle to enable parallel viewing of the examined object. The lens is clear and the magnification is quite impressive. Dating and origin: Although acquired in London. It is almost undoubtedly not English by origin. Compass microscopes in the true sense of having compass-like joints and arms, were apparently more common in present-day Germany. Stylistically, it can be ... moreloosely dated to the mid-18 th century. Like most of the instruments of this era. It is unsigned and one really can't tell more about it. Yet a general parallel can be seen in the last figure(not included in this listing but brought only for demonstration) is taken from the sales catalogue of scientific instruments by Joachim Friedrich Meyen of Leipzig(1747) entitled: Kurzer Unterricht von der Beschaffenheit und dem Gebrauch der Vergrösserungsgläser und Teleskopien. It depicts a rather similar compass microscope. Yet I really can't tell if this is an instrument of the same era or maker. SHIPPING(please read carefully! Shipping is made promptly(within a day) after receiving cleared payment by express mailing service(EMS) Fully insured and with tracking number. PLEASE NOTE: Although EMS is committed in theory to supply every item within five working days. In reality this hardly ever happens as items are often held by the customs for longer periods of time. You will be provided with the tracking number to follow the item and I will sort out any delay and refund you in full in case of any reasonable loss. In my experience, usually there are no problems of this kind

Antique Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Solid Brass Microscope SN#26739 ~ Pat. 8-1897 Up for auction(sale) is a Vintage Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Brass Microscope My clients husband found this microscope in the remains of an old building and cleaned it up very well. Most all the adjustable parts move. Though some are a little harder than others. It is missing 1 of the 3 magnifying lenses that can rotate to any one of the 3 positions. It may be missing other parts that I don't know about. The eye piece does not appear to be the proper one for this scope, but does fit in the chamber. The mirror at the base does have blemishes on both sides. It has many more options than some of the other scopes that I have found from this era. It has 2 patent dates that I can find, one from Feb 1897& one from Aug. 1897. The serial number is on the base#26739. ... moreIt is 14 1/2" Tall x 6" Deep x 4 1/4" Wide I was unable to really see anything as I didn't have the knowledge or the material to test. I'm sure that it does need some restoration. Though it is a great looking decorative piece as it sits. H. Seibert in Wetzlar. This instrument is built upon their Stativ III or Stand III. The brothers Seibert produced two versions of this stand. One that inclined and one that did not. The instrument featured here is the non-inclining variant of that model. Accompanying the microscope is a very nice Mahogany wood cabinet that houses the instrument. This instrument is signed on the face of the body tube. “SEIBERT.” Also engraved on the face of the body tube is “Botan. Museum, Greifswald, 62.” This inscription refers to the Botanical Museum in Greifswald, Germany. The inscription indicates that this instrument was once used at this institution most likely for the microscopic examination of botanical specimens. The number 62 most likely indicates that this institution had several microscopes to be used for this purpose, this one being number 62 in their inventory. SUPERB BAUSCH& LOMB ANTIQUE BRASS"UNIVERSAL" MODEL MICROSCOPE – Circa 1884 You are invited to purchase an outstandingly beautiful and very large Bausch& Lomb Optical Company antique lacquered brass"Universal" Model Microscope. The Bausch& Lomb Optical Company produced this model microscope from ... more1884 to 1896. It is one of the largest microscopes produced by the firm during that late 19th Century time frame – second only in size and complexity to their “Professional” Model(NOTE: Please see the accompanying image comparing the size of the instrument with a standard bottle of wine – this microscope is almost 2x as tall! Antique microscope collectors will note that the"Universal" Model is very similar to the"Investigator" model also offered by B&L. However. The “Universal” model is a much larger instrument with a more elaborate substage assembly, a wider diameter body tube and a double drawtube. This microscope bears the name of the manufacturer on the rear of the brass stage of the instrument. “Bausch& Lomb Optical Co”(see close-up images) However, the instrument does not bear a typical serial number. For some odd reason, Bausch& Lomb did not engrave serial numbers on their earlier microscopes. Instead, they would place the serial number on the front lip of the floor of the wood case that normally accompanied the microscope. In this particular situation, we do not have the wood case that normally came with the instrument to provide us with t

ANTIQUE BAUSCH & LOMB OPTICAL CO. SOLID BRASS MICROSCOPE - Pat. Date 2/16/1897
The item up for sale in this auction is a Bausch& Lomb Optical Company Microscope. There is a patent date of February 2nd. 1897 on the micro focus adjustment wheel. I tested all of the lenses using a piece of paper with writing on it, each lens was able to get a fairly clear picture. The mirror does have some blemishes on it and some appear to be permanent. The frame of the microscope is all brass and is in pretty good shape. There is definitely some wear and tarnish on it but nothing major. I can't find any missing pieces and everything appears to be in really good working condition. The microscope will be shipped out in a wooden case along with a box of about a dozen glass slides. I don't think the case is original, but somebody obviously made it specifically for the microscope, so it should go with it. If you have any questions, ... moreI'll be happy to answer them. Antique Brass Microscope Objective Lens 4" - 6" R.G Mason of 69 Clapham Park Rd
Antique brass adjustable microscope objective lens made by Robert George Mason of 69 Clapham Park Road. Clapham,S.W. London in the late 19th century. The objective is adjustable and by rotating the double ribbed band it can be altered from 4 to 6IN. Cosmetically the objective and case are in outstanding condition with no wear to the brass. Optically there a couple of tiny bubbles visible in the front element, they are hardly noticeable, nonetheless it would be remiss of me not to mention this. Mason was well known for his slides but his microscopes aren't seen as often. Here is an article about him: RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B%3Dd70f%2Bf%60%60%3E-13eae192b19-0x108-

ANTIQUE CASED JOHN BROWNING BRASS POCKET MICROSCOPE #401 FOR RESTORATION c.1875
ANTIQUE CASED JOHN BROWNING POCKET MICROSOPE* PLEASE SCROLL DOWN AFTER THE DESCRIPTION TO SEE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THIS ITEM. IF YOU WANT TO SEE ANY FURTHER IMAGES PLEASE JUST ASK. The microscope is mostly constructed from laquered brass and is engraved'John Browning London 401' The case is original and is stamped on the silk lining inside the lid with the maker's crest and address. There are also two glass slides present in the box. We believe the microscope to date from c.1875. Condition: The microscope is in need of some repair. The reflecting mirror is broken and requires replacement. The fixing for the reflecting mirror is also broken. And the reflecting mirror is detached. This has been repaired with solder in the past, and there are the ... moreremains of the solder on both the mirror and on the microscope itself. This repair is also broken. The lacquer has come off in places and there is some surface pitting and corrosion to the brasswork. The lenses are dirty, and the whole microscope would benefit from being cleaned and polished. The extension mechanisms do work, but are stiff. The case is grubby and quite badly scuffed and the silk lining inside the lid has some holing and fraying. The case catch is broken, and the release button is missing. The top catch has broken off with some wood loss, but the catch itself is present loose in the box. Please refer to photographs below. Large Double Pillar Antique, Brass Microscope – Signed G. Potter
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Beautiful Double Pillar Antique. Brass Microscope* With Engraved Signature(G. Potter) on the Scope* Stands about 19 inches high. And is fairly heavy(base appears to be iron) Please read the description in full. Review all photos and ask all questions prior to bidding. Happy to provide addition photos if requested. This is an antique. Likely over 100 years old(1800’s) so there is some minor wear commensurate with age. I have provided key conditional notes based on my review of the visuals and mechanics. Overall. A very nice presentation piece. It is solid with a really neat. Functioning two-way mechanical stage. When I purchased this a couple months ago. It was covered in very stubborn layers of dust, grime and dirt. I correctly assumed that there was a beautiful microscope ... moreunderneath. The two knobs allow the stage to move fairly smoothly from side-to-side. And up and down. Although the knob that would otherwise adjust the scope/ tube is missing(see hole shown in photos near the Potter signature) It can be fairly easily slid manually(i.e. might be better as a presentation piece than a fully functioning microscope) The optics are not perfect. But in the highest position of the scope, you can view slides(but with limited range of adjustment) There is a screw missing from the pole that holds the mirror. But everything still holds sturdy. I also fully disassembled and cleaned with premium quality polish. Which took about six hours. The decision to polish an antique is a challenge and personal preference. Ideally. I like to avoid polishing, but in this case the original patina was too far gone. My purpose for buying this item was curiosity of what was under all that grime. The real benefit and fun of polishing something like this is revealing the neat scope in close to what it would have looked like in its original state over 100 years ago. As I have now satisfied this curiosity(and have very limited space) I am

Vérick brass continental microscope– circa 1870's Constant Vérick advertised himself as a élève spécial de E. Hartnack(special pupil of E. Antique 19C Ross London #263 Brass/Black Microscope Objective/Lenses/Case
19th Century Ross of London#263 Microscope This piece is SO strange. The part on the top is the only piece that is marked Ross London#263 The lense down by the platform is marked Bausch& Lomb and the extra lense in the case is marked Spencer. So.I truly have no idea which one of these people made this microscope because I cannot find a mark on the scope itself. All of the parts that are marked are removable. This is how I purchased it. So this is how I'm selling it. Microscope stands about 13" tall at the shortest level. And extends to about 17" tall. There is a screw missing from the brass plate in the front of the platform.
