Antique Jug Handle Bausch and Lomb Brass Microscope circa 1907 This microscope is sold"as is" for I know nothing about microscopes. I am able to look through both lens. So they must work. A characterful antique pillar back brass microscope with one fitted lens
A nice neat example of a pillar back microscope dating from the late Victorian or Edwardian era. This is an unusual and attractive microscope with a back pillar and black painted stage. Brass Culpeper-Type Original Microscope with Accessories and Wooden Case
BRASS 1800 PERIOD CULPEPER-TYPE MICROSCOPE WITH CASE AND ACCESSORIES Traditional"tripod" microscopes were popular during the 18th century. This Culpeper style is an all brass instrument during the middle of the 18th century. The physical design of this Culpeper is dominated by 2 sets of ornate"S-curved" legs. The lower set is mounted onto a wooden base( with a drawer for the accessories) rise to support the platform stage. There is another set of the"S-curved" legs that rise to support the platform stage and extend to the mounting tube. A single concave mirror reflects and condenses light into the optical axis from the mounting post and gimbal centered in the substage wooden base. The circular microscope stage has a 7/8" central aperture slightly recessed to receive accessories and also to transmit light. ... moreA 1/8" side aperture is available to mount accessory posts. A key hole opening to accept the fish plate and two substage clips attached below the stage to hold a glass tube- all complete to accommodate almost any specimen for microscopic evaluation. The all brass body consists of two main parts: the 3 1/8" tall outer fixed tube receives the inner sliding body tube. The eyepiece is located above the sliding tube and the long nosepiece with an objective screwed to it to complete the microscope. Complete removal of the inner body tube from the fixed outer tube facilitates further examination of the parts associated with the draw tube. The long narrow nosepiece extending below the inner sliding body tube is threaded to accept a variety of 5 objectives supplied with the instrument, all engraved with the identifying number, 1-5 in declining order of magnification. The eyepiece unscrews from the draw tube to disclose a doublet eye lens. All three lens are biconvex. Several accessories are provided with this Culpeper-type microscope: fish plate, brass live box, cork sealed glass tube, stage forceps, specimen disc, magnifier, white plate, Bonanni spring stage, 6 bone sliders a

A Victorian Brass Microscope c1850/60
This Victorian brass microscope I think dates to around 1850/60. It has nice patina with age and is in working order although the examination tray is missing but could be replaced, the microscope has a ball socket on the base to adjust the tilt and is also adjusted to the height required at the top, the microscope measures around 10.5 inches high, it is a bit grubby with age but generally in good condition just needs the examination table replaced

Antique Brass Field Pocket Microscope Eyepiece Magnifying Glass Etc
Here is a lot of antique scientific field instruments. I'm not exactly sure what they were all used for. There is one that is a pocket brass microscope for looking at slides. The other brass piece looks to be for the eyepiece of an early field microscope. Then there is another metal piece with tripod legs that I think was for using a magnifying lens. But the lens is not there. Then there is a little magnifying glass with clip for attaching to table and last is a little glass cup that has some a little magnifying lens on the end of it. Interesting lot, brass pieces measure approx. 1 13/16" in length.

Antique Handheld Pocket Sized Microscope With Wooden Box Brass 1900s 6 x 1 inch
Antique Handheld Pocket Sized Microscope With Wooden Box Brass 1900s 6 x 1 inch There are signs of wear on this microscope but given the age. It looks great. The brass is still shiny and the overall physical condition is good with no signs of damage or misuse. There are marks and scratches/scuffs around the outside of the microscope that are shown in the pictures, but nothing that renders the item useless. These marks are either from wear or from tarnishing or both. This includes the box as well, to store and carry the microscope when not in use. It is wooden and is closable by means of hinges. W and S Jones Brass Solar Microscope, Circa 1792 - 1800
W AND S JONES BRASS SOLAR MICROSCOPE. CIRCA 1792- 1800 Williams and Samuel Jones brass solar projection microscope. A projection microscope was often used for entertainment to project an image onto a wall for a large group. Often a group would gather on a Sunday afternoon for a"slide" show. The projection system- usually a"Solar Microscope" This instrument was usually mounted in a hole in a window shutter of a house or building to capture the sunlight of the sun. When in use the specimen is placed beyond the focus of the lens. Since the object cannot emit light itself it is illuminated from behind. Outside the building the mirror reflects sunlight to a condenser; the light rays pass through the condenser and specimen. Enter the lens and are refracted forming an image in the plane of the lens. The image is real, enlarged, ... morelaterally reversed and inverted. Since the image is projected across a room, a lens of longer focal length is used. The use of the solar microscope depended upon the sun, the light source. The inventor of the solar microscope is not really known exactly but credit probably goes to Fahrenheit probably before 1736. Lieberkuhn is responsible for bringing the innovation to England in 1740, demonstrating his reflecting mirror and solar microscope to the Royal Society Members. He did not claim to be the inventor. The origin of the solar microscope dates back to the camera obscura of the 16th century. It used a lens in a shutter or other aperture of a darkened room to project a greatly magnified outdoor image on an opposite wall inside the building. Later Cuff and Martin made their own versions of the solar microscope were used to project opaque objects. This solar microscope is lacquered brass, rackworth focus on the tube, a square brass plate with two(2) drilled holes for mounting onto a wall. A long mirror, measuring 6 3/4" x 2 1/2" with no cracks and in great shape. The mirror is adjusted by a rack and pinion system and can be rotated. The microscope is identified with

A characterful antique brass microscope with box, lenses and two small slides
A nice neat example of a drum type microscope dating from the late Victorian or Edwardian era. This comes with two small paper covered glass slides. And its original wooden box. The brass of this microscope is a nice smooth type of slightly heavier weight than many of the similar drum type microscopes and it has a weighted base. The box has an unusual velvet lined inner top, which I haven't seen before. The microscope is made from brass with a lacquered gilt finish which has some slight wear in places. Giving a characterful appearance. The stage has a slightly worn black painted finish. It has three objective lenses attached. One on top of the other. It is in original uncleaned condition with a nice patina and seems to be in working order. The mirror has some very slight scattered spotting. But still works well. The microscope is in very ... moregood condition with just some slight wear to the mirror and a little to the lacquered finish on the brass. The box is also in good condition with some wear on the lid. There is no makers mark. All in all it's a great little microscope. Which forms an interesting display piece, or addition to a collection. The microscope stands 6.2 inches(16.2 cm) high. Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 PLEASE NOTE: I do not take offers for listed items.
