Brass ... moreMicroscope My clients husband found this microscope in the remains of an old building and cleaned it up very well. Most all the adjustable parts move. Though some are a little harder than others. It is missing 1 of the 3 magnifying lenses that can rotate to any one of the 3 positions. It may be missing other parts that I don't know about. The eye piece does not appear to be the proper one for this scope, but does fit in the chamber. The mirror at the base does have blemishes on both sides. It has many more options than some of the other scopes that I have found from this era. It has 2 patent dates that I can find, one from Feb 1897& one from Aug. 1897. The serial number is on the base#26739. It is 14 1/2" Tall x 6" Deep x 4 1/4" Wide I was unable to really see anything as I didn't have the knowledge or the material to test. I'm sure that it does need some restoration. Though it is a great looking decorative piece as it sits. This is the condition it has been in for many years and I did not attempt to polish or take apart to clean. It is an OLD 19thC FRENCH MICROSCOPE complete with ORIGINAL case. It is nicely engraved NACHET 17. Rue S t Severin Paris and N achet again on one of the tubes.The Company did not move to this address until 1862. I am not an exper t on microscopes but this does look ex tremely well made to me and of a very high quality. The condition is very good too retaining most of the original lacquer that is now a wonderful mellow gold colour. I would give the item 7/10. Even the box is well made although the key is missing( the lock has not been forced)it should be possible to replace this. There are marks and scra tches on this commensurate with age and it could do with a p olish. There are 2 other lens(inside the ... morebox numbered 1& 2 and 2 small caps inside the box. I think there is a small box missing from the covered compartment and also a lens that fits on a small bracket. The mirror s are as per the photos. One looks good but the other side looks to have crazed. It retains what ap ears to be the original green felt base. It adjusts up and down smoothly when the knob is rotated. I am not an expert on this type of thing and your comments would be welcomed and added to the listing. It is VERY heavy at around 4kg UNPACKED. You are bidding on a fine heavy vintage brass Bausch and Lomb microscope having a patent date of 1915. The company began in 1853 in Rochester. New York and became a leading manufacturer of high quality optical equipment. The microscope comes with the following: three objective lenses in 1.9 mm. 4 mm and 16 mm sizes revolving nosepiece two eyepieces: 5X and 10X blue glass disc dark ground stop metal cases for the three objectives 40-page Use and Care booklet by Edward Bausch. With diagrams and instructions original wooden case and case key The case has nice finger joint construction. A heavy duty metal handle, and two sliding removable drawers which hold additional equipment and parts. The microscope measures approximately 12.5 inches tall. 5.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches front to back. The brass knobs and other fittings have a nice patina. ... morePlease note that the reflecting mirror is missing. Replacement mirrors are available on ebay for a nominal amount(about $15.00) Except for the mirror. This microscope is in very nice condition and appears to be in good working order. The black exterior shows a few bumps and scuffs from previous use. The case is sturdy and locks securely. The case measures 15 inches tall by 7 and 1/8 inches wide by 8 inches deep. This instrument was made by R& J. Beck, Ltd. of London, UK. The name of the manufacturer is engraved on the top of the slide, BECK, LONDON. It dates from circa 1900. Accompanying this listing is a cut from the R&J Beck. Ltd. Scientific Instruments Catalogue from ... morethe year 1900 that shows this same instrument. It is their model No. 3422. Which is described as follows: Stage Forceps. A 3x1 plate carries a metal fitting holding a short revolving rod with a pair of spring forceps at one end and a tube with cork at the other. The slide base appears to be made of polished Bakelite and measures 75mm long by 25 mm wide. There is a central 12 mm diameter aperture in the base to permit the use of transmitted light from below the stage. If desired. The forceps unit itself appears to be made of Nickel-plated brass and measures 60mm long. It is supported on a short pillar at one end of the slide. The entire unit can be rotated 360 degrees on this pillar. The forceps end is designed to hold opaque objects, such as in insect for observation under incidental light on top of the stage of a microscope. The opposite end of the unit contains an encapsulated cork that can be used to hold a pin on which an insect or other opaque object is impaled. The microscope has three objective lenses, two eye pieces, original mahogany fitted box(with one drawer for additional lenses and one for objectives[with the three original brass objective cases] It has a double mirror(one flat and one convex) and has a swing out light and an elaborate concentration prism. Up for sale today is a 1923 folding bausch and lomb microscope. the year 1923 was determined by the the serial number of 169745 on one of the legs. comes with its original box. item spells of age. I did no cleaning what so ever to it. it has more potential to clean up. marked 8-16, rochester n.y. u.s.a. not sure if item is complete. looks as though it is missing a lense at the very top. sound like that is pretty easily unscrewed and replaced with almost any one of the same size. the mirror goes side to side, and up and down. mirror has some blemishes. something that could be cleaned up. personally don't understand the spacing for where a slide would go and the bottom of the scope. looks like it would have to sit on the slide. or with the scope at a unscrewed point. great piece. plenty of photos to see its beauty and imperfections. ... morehow will you look at 90 years old. any questions feel free to ask. free fast priority shipping.

We have available this one antique brass& metal Carl Zeiss Je na microscope. Serial number is 27161(circa 1890 if my research is correct) Stand style VIa. Comes with a 3x& 6x objective lens. Each has its original brass protective tube with lid. There is anot her wi der diameter objective lens with no mark ings(no tu be) Comes with a 10x& 4x eye piece lens. Comes with the original ca rry box in excellent condition with original key fully functional. It has the wood en holder fo r the eye pieces& lenses. It has an accessor y box with some o ld slides. I didn't see any marked ebola or bubonic plague so no worries there. There is one split on the back panel of the box but appears to have been there for some time and still fully intact. I tested the unit with the 10x eye piece and both objective lenses with a couple old slides. ... moreOptics seem to be excellent with no concerns. The 3x objective lens has lost most of it's brass finish. There is rust on the two screw heads on the slide platform. Antique/ vintage microscope. Has a decal under the stage" Chicago Lens& instrument Co. Tube is marked" Bausch& Lomb Optical Co, Rochester NY" Didn't find any info online for the Chicago Lens Company. Apparently the Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. name was used between 1876 to the mid 40's. Comparing the styles, I would place a guess ion the 1920's, but please use your own knowledge to help you determine the type and vintage of this. Has a two lens turret, lenses are Bausch& Lomb with one marked 4mm 0.85 and the other 16mm 0.25. Eyepiece lens is marked only with 10x. There is a diaphragm under the stage. It moves a bit, but is stiff to turn and the shutter looks to be a bit distorted. Adjuster moves the tube up and down as it should. The large brass knob at the top of the arm doesn't move easily. I didn't ... moretry to loosen it with any tools. My knowledge of microscopes it pretty limited and I didn't want to do any damage. The pivot between the base and tube appears to require a special tool to loosen, so I left it alone as well. Stands 13 3/4 tall extended. Base is 7 x 4. Has some wear, tarnish and accumulated dust. I imagine it will shine up pretty decent, but will let the new owner decide on the look desired. Kind of has the old unused dusty laboratory look as it sits. Base and parts are cast iron, the rest of the parts are brass. I think this will make a nice addition to a collection or look great as a decorating piece. Check out my! Up for sale is a rare antique Babcock milk tester. The tester centrifuge hold eight test bottles all of which are in good shape and included. One bottle has a small chip out of the lip but the rest are in great shape. This tester is contained within a lidded galvanized steel container. The tester is about 13" tall and 20" in diameter. The barrel has a cork(which I believe to be the original one) in the base which leads me to believe you would fill the barrel with water when testing but I am not certain. Up for auction is a Bausch + Lomb antique brass microscope. It has a sticker across the front of it that is marked B. M. Levoy Inc. New York City. It is marked Bausch + Lomb Rochester on the lenses and t is a coin plate on it marked with serial number 4465. This serial number dates from 1903. It appears to be in working order. Late 1800's Antique French Brass Unusual Microscope w/ Original Box Works Fine
Early Brass Microscope with box. Knob turns and easily goes up and down. Top part screws off. Has two arms. Side one is a magnifying glass and bottom one has a mirror on one side and a brass plate on the other. Bottom is a heavy horseshoe type base stand. Obviously some wear to brass and box. Box has hinges and two hooks closures. All need alittle cleanup. Height of magnifier is almost 7 inches. The item up for sale in this auction is a Bausch& Lomb Optical Company Microscope. There is a patent date of February 2nd. 1897 on the micro focus adjustment wheel. I tested all of the lenses using a piece of paper with writing on it, each lens was able to get a fairly clear picture. The mirror does have some blemishes on it and some appear to be permanent. The frame of the microscope is all brass and is in pretty good shape. There is definitely some wear and tarnish on it but nothing major. I can't find any missing pieces and everything appears to be in really good working condition. The microscope will be shipped out in a wooden case along with a box of about a dozen glass slides. antique mahogany Scientific/Chronometer box 19th century w Lock
A great antique Mahogany box with original hardware handle. Escheon, lock, and 2 latches. Dimensions are; 8 1/8" wide, 7 3/4" deep, 7" tall. Inside measures 7 1/4" wide, 6 3/4" deep. Top section height is 3" Bottom section is 3 1/4" high. The inside rails are down 3/8" from top. It has blind dovetails and is very well made. I original thought this was a marine chronometer clock case, but it has some shadow lines inside the bottom of the case that caused me to leave that up to the buyer. Please notice the chip missing on the bottom left hand side of the front of the box. There are two cracks on the top due to age. The age of this piece is about the second quarter of the 19th century, so look at the wear and markings on the box. It's a great piece. Our estate sale, so no returns. This is a very cool all copper and brass steam sterilizer/ sanitizer autoclave for surgical instruments from the turn of the 19th century. Very Steam punk. Marked"WOODWARD CLARKE& CO" Portland Oregon on tag at top of door. Each outlet on the top is marked as well. Two are labeled LEAVE OPEN. One labeled Fill HERE, One labeled THERMOSTAT amd one labeled THERMOMETER. The latch and hinges are solid. The right side has a spicket and a glass sight tub setup, the glass is missing but could be easy replaced. The left side has a sliding vent. The door is about one inch thick and has the original intact cloth or leather gasket. There is an electrial heater eliment that is not wired in located on the bottem of the box. Large Double Pillar Antique, Brass Microscope – Signed G. Potter

Potter) on the Scope* Stands about 19 inches high. And is fairly heavy(base appears to be iron) Please read the description in full. Review all photos and ask all questions prior to bidding. Happy to provide addition photos if requested. This is an antique. Likely over 100 years old(1800’s) so there is some minor wear commensurate with age. I have provided key conditional notes based on my review of the visuals and mechanics. Overall. A very nice presentation piece. It is solid with a really neat. Functioning two-way mechanical stage. When I purchased this a couple months ago. It was covered in very stubborn layers of dust, grime and dirt. I correctly assumed that there was a beautiful microscope ... moreunderneath. The two knobs allow the stage to move fairly smoothly from side-to-side. And up and down. Although the knob that would otherwise adjust the scope/ tube is missing(see hole shown in photos near the Potter signature) It can be fairly easily slid manually(i.e. might be better as a presentation piece than a fully functioning microscope) The optics are not perfect. But in the highest position of the scope, you can view slides(but with limited range of adjustment) There is a screw missing from the pole that holds the mirror. But everything still holds sturdy. I also fully disassembled and cleaned with premium quality polish. Which took about six hours. The decision to polish an antique is a challenge and personal preference. Ideally. I like to avoid polishing, but in this case the original patina was too far gone. My purpose for buying this item was curiosity of what was under all that grime. The real benefit and fun of polishing something like this is revealing the neat scope in close to what it would have looked like in its original state over 100 years ago. Antique Stereographic Microscope Ernst Leitz Wetzlar C1885
The scope is offered as found. It is 9 inches tall as shown. The serial number is 7289. There are three vertical adjustments. Two manual with little locking levers and one by rack and pinion. There is no case. Marked on the shoulder of the prism housing is:a5-10x” a10-20x” and“a15-30x” which is the power of the oculars but only the pair marked“a15-30x” is present on this unit. The glass stage dovetails into the brass base and is a bit chippy due, no doubt, to careless re-insertion or dropping after being removed for cleaning. The surface of the stage is scratched with what looks like scalpel or knife marks so it would appear that the scope was used for dissection. The optics are good. It has been sitting on the shelf for a good many years and needs a good cleaning but there is no damage or deterioration except as noted. Please email for further ... moreinformation or pictures. I like vintage antique scientific instruments. It is an early barograph; for measuring and recording barometric pressure and other meteorological work. This is an exceptional barograph in its original oak glass case. Mechanism signed by Negretti& Zambra of London. Also in the case is a Fahrenheit/centigrade thermometer in working condition. Footed case has a lower center drawer and all glass is original. Top of case is hinged on the left side for opening. I am not an expert on scientific instruments but I believe this piece is complete. The part on the top is the only piece that is marked Ross London#263 The lense down by the platform is marked Bausch& Lomb and the extra lense in the case is marked Spencer. So.I truly have no idea which one of these people made this microscope because I cannot find a mark on the scope itself. All of the parts that are marked are removable. This is how I purchased it. So this is how I'm selling it. Microscope stands about 13" tall at the shortest level. And extends to about 17" tall. There is a screw missing from the brass plate in the front of the platform.
