ANTIQUE Wimshurst Electricty Electro Generator Machine Experiment high voltages
LOOK THE OTHER RARE ITEMS I HAVE ON E-BAY* MUSEUM ITEM ANTIQUE MAGNIFICENT& RARE LATE 19TH CENTURY Enamel James Wimshurst Machine Electro Induction Machine The Wimshurst influence machine is an electrostatic generator. A machine for generating high voltages developed between 1880 and 1883 by British inventor James Wimshurst(1832–1903) very good condition for the age Measurements: approx 11.02 inch Height. 9.65 inch Length and 5.31inchWidth 28 cm Height. 24.5 cm Length and 13.5 cm Width These machines belong to a class of electrostatic generators called influence machines. Which separate electric charges through electrostatic induction, or influence, not depending on friction for their operation. Earlier machines in this class were developed by Wilhelm Holtz(1865 and 1867) August Toepler(1865) J. Robert Voss(1880) and others. The older ... moremachines were less efficient and exhibited an unpredictable tendency to switch their polarity. The Wimshurst did not have this defect. In a Wimshurst machine. The two insulated discs and their metal sectors rotate in opposite directions passing the crossed metal neutralizer bars and their brushes. An imbalance of charges is induced, amplified, and collected by two pairs of metal combs with points placed near the surfaces of each disk. These collectors are mounted on insulating supports and connected to the output terminals. The positive feedback increases the accumulating charges exponentially until the dielectric breakdown voltage of the air is reached and an electric spark jumps across the gap. The machine is theoretically not self-starting. Meaning that if none of the sectors on the discs has any electrical charge there is nothing to induce charges on other sectors. In practice, even a small residual charge on any sector is enough to start the process going once the discs start to rotate. The machine will only work satisfactorily in a dry atmosphere. It does require mechanical power to turn the disks against the electric

Antique brass early achromatic microscope by Chevalier in pristine condition
Please read carefully the following report. The figures are an integral part of this description. Offered for auction is an antique early achromatic Pritchard-form"transitional" brass microscope in pristine condition. Made in ~1840 by the renowned Parisian workshop of Charles Chevalier(1804-1859) The microscope comes with the original mahogany case. Bull's eye condenser, tweezers and a set of early French-made slides mounted by the Bourgogne Brothers. History: This early achromatic microscope is mounted on a brass pillar with a compass joint that directly connects the support pillar to the limb of the microscope. This design is one known as the"Pritchard form" Which developed directly from the"Jones Most Improved" type of the late 18th century. During the period around 1830-1840 the English microscope was ... moreundergoing a rapid evolution from the non-achromatic instruments to the achromatic microscopes that became more common within the second quarter of the 19th century. During this evolutionary period, some of the microscopes that were produced are often now referred to as"transitional" that is, they represent a design that is midway between the older and newer forms. The microscope shown here is clearly one of these. Several early microscope manufacturers used this mounting method, including Andrew Ross, Andrew Prichard, and James Parkes& Son in England and Vincent and Charles Chevalier in France. In Andrew Prichard's Catalogue of Microscopes and the Jewel and Doublet Microscope extracted from his publication entitled, The Microscopic Cabinet of Selected Animated Objects" Similar mounting to that of the instrument featured here appears. The microscope is entirely mobile. It collapses into the compact mahogany case together with the usual accessories and can be carried easily. Although microscopes of this type are invariably unsigned. They are commonly attributed to the workshop of Charles Chevalier(1804-1859) The last photo presents a page from the sales cat
Antique 1895 Bausch Lomb Microscope, #18563
I believe the serial number of this microscope places the date at approximately 1895. The scope functions well and seems to work fine. The pictures with both objectives viewing slides are very clear and in focus. The focus knob works smoothly. I think the box is the original one and is in good shape. With the exception of a crack on top and on one side. There is no key to the lock. There are a few nicks in the paint on the base, as you can see in the pictures. Very nice aged lacquer. Ship only within U.S.

Antique brass single to triple lens 18th century compass microscope
Due to some new priorities that I set. I clear now a section of my collection of antique field microscopes in favor of other models. Between June and August 2013 I will gradually list some high end single and compound microscopes, ranging between the 2 nd half of the 17 th. The 18 th. And the early 19 th centuries. If you are a serious collector. Please follow my lists. I will neither provide BIN prices nor sell outside of eBay, so please avoid addressing me with such requests. Please read carefully the following report. The figures are an integral part of this description. Offered for auction is an antique"compass microscope" Probably dating to the late 18 th century. The microscope is unsigned. It comes with one integral lens and two additional stacking button lenses. Providing altogether relatively very high magnification estimated ... moreat ~100X. The special specimen holder having the three prongs is paralleled by item R.M.S. No. 21 reviewed in Gerard Turner's book The Great Age of the Microscope. However. The model depicted there is different. The microscope has a nice ebony lacquered handle. But otherwise the finishing seems to be somewhat cruder than the usual for these. The case or etui that presumably accompanied it is missing. SHIPPING(please read carefully! Shipping is made promptly(within a day) after receiving cleared payment. By EMS(Express Mailing Service) PLEASE NOTE: sometimes items are held by the customs for longer periods of time. In the very unlikely case of a problem. Vintage/Antique Early 1900s Leitz Wetzlar Microscope w/Wooden Case
You are bidding on one lot of one old microscope by Leitz Wetzlar. This has a serial number of 110262 probably dating it to the early 1900s. I do not know much about microscopes personally. But everything seems to move smoothly, including the focus and fine focus, The turret, and the mirror assembly. It tilts back fine as well. There is a lens up top marked 3. And then another lens top without the barrel marked 4. It has a three lens turret but only two are in use. One is a Leitz Wetzlar 3 and the other is a Spencer 4MM 44X. There is an extra Bausch& Lomb 16MM 10X lens but it does not fit. There is a double sided mirror, the looks in good condition, and another assembly with an aperture that swings back and forth under the slide table. There is also another aperture under the slide table that opens and closes with a lever. Has a heavy ... morecast iron base and looks like brass knobs and a brass finish to the main barrel. This item seems well used and has its fair share of scuffs and scratches. Along with finish wear in a number of places. Also comes with a custom E. Leitz Wetzlar wooden case. It has a lock but no key. It is in very good sturdy condition but has scuffs and scratches from use. Overall a neat old microscope that needs a detailed cleaning and maybe a bit or restoration to look its best. Please email me with any questions prior to bidding. The accompanying photo is of the actual lot you are bidding on. I accept PayPal only at this time. Goods usually shipped the next postal day after payment received(except Saturdays. Mondays, and the day after a postal holiday) Shipping and handling charge is $22.50 in continental USA.
