It is made of steel in the lower part including the stage ... moreand brass from there on up. The eyepiece section telescopes out over 2" from what you see for zooming purposes and is marked in millimeters. This design allows for a multitude of powers to suit the light and viewer's needs. The body says. Bausch and Lomb Optical Co. Rochester, New York, U.S.A. The zooming eyepiece tube has the serial number of 114094 etched in the brass to help one date the instrument. The objectives are marked B and L Optical Co with 4mm and 16mm. The eyepiece is numbered 4 and says Carl Zeiss Jena on top with the side is etched B&L O.C. One might assume B and L sold Zeiss products at one time. At 9 pounds this is no lightweight. Views are clear and bright aided by a two-sided(plano and concave) mirror in excellent condition. Under the stage is an aperture wheel to control the light from the mirror. Fine focusing is done with the wheel on the back.

In the box are also a pair of brass tweezers and a decorated sample glass with (presumably) a insect's leg. It is real fun to observe it with this antique scope. The wooden box is in good condition, fully working, though in some parts has some blue stains, presumably from methyl-blue, a dye, widely used in microscopy. The photos are actual so you can easily evaluate this nice piece by yourself.

Free Shipping Location: Cedar Falls, United States Offered for auction is a fine Bausch& Lomb portable microscope Model BHP S.N. 74484. Dating to 1908. This full research microscope is housed compactly ... morein a 29 x 19 x 8 cm mahogany carrying case. It sets up by simply spreading the hinged base. Then swinging the stage 90 0 and locking it into place. The profile of this instrument features an integrated"jug handle" cut into the squared off limb. A design that became popular among some producers between ca. 1900 and 1920. This B&L"Portable Microscope Model BHP" has all the features and rigidity of their research stands. But in a convenient traveling form. Not many of these microscopes were produced, because their price was over two times the price of a regular B&L Model BH desk-top microscope. Reference: The Billings Collection catalogue: P. 127 No. AFIP 49447; p. 118. Fig. 223. The original optics that come with this microscope are all signed by Carl Zeiss. The set even has the original Eder immesion oil in an original bottle fitting a special slot inside the case. The case is complete. The inner and outer condition is very good. The original brass lock is completely functional but the original key was missing when I bought the set. However, the microscope will be supplied with a modern fitted key that enables safe locking and unlocking of the case. This is an extremely well-preserved set of an early scientific instrument. Produced by one of the most respected American maker with optic made by the best German maker of the time. During the early 20th century, B&L and Carl Zeiss formed a partnership hence the combined features of this microscope. This is a rare item in excellent condition that will suit every serious collection. I list it with low starting bid and no reserve. Please note: This is a private listing. I will not sell it outside eBay. Please don't address me with such requests. Please note: The accompanying array of images of the microscope and its Mahogany case taken from various angles are a part of this statement

*GERMAN Antique BRASS & Iron ARGUS 606 MICROSCOPE in Original WOOD BOX Germany
An antique"Argus Nr. 606" Brass Microscope. 6 3/4" high, made in Germany and housed in its original wood box, 2 3/4" x 8 9/16" x 2 1/2" high, with original hook closures. There's a paper label inside the box with some information but I don't see any maker's mark on the Microscope. GERMANY" is impressed into the 2" diameter iron base. The top section can be adjusted up and down and can also be removed from the bottom section. Condition. In good condition overall. I didn't polish the brass but left it as found. The surface of the adjustable mirror is in good condition with some oxidation across the middle section that doesn't seem to interfere with reflecting light into the Microscope. The top and bottom glass lenses are in good condition with no scratches. There is an old short closed ... morecrack in the bottom section of the brass band above the section that holds the slide that can be seen in one of the side view photos of the Microscope(as the Microscope front faces to the right) This part doesn't hold the top section in place so it doesn't affect the use of the Microscope in any way. There are NO slides with this Microscope although there is space for 4 slides in the box. Shipping weight of carefully wrapped package. 3 pounds Buyer pays shipping. I usually ship the day after I receive the email from PayPal confirming your payment to PayPal. If I receive the confirmation email from PayPal on a Friday or a weekend I ship the following Monday. Happy to provide addition photos if requested. This is an antique. Likely around 140 years old, so there is some wear commensurate with age. I have provided key conditional ... morenotes based on my review of the visuals and mechanics. I am very pleased to offer this attractive antique binocular microscope by Charles Baker of London. A handsome. Stately presentation piece! This appears to be an early example of the bar-limb design first pioneered by Andrew Ross. As might be expected with a mechanical antique of this age. It is not in perfect, complete condition. Descriptions can sometimes be subjective. And details/ condition of mechanical antiques difficult to capture in photos. While I am passionate about antique microscopes and enjoy hanging onto them briefly as a hobby/ admirer. I am not able to yet call myself an expert so please review as well, and do not hesitate to ask questions/ request more photos. I have tried my best to thoroughly identify any issues/ notes based on a top-to-bottom visual review. 1. No box or other accessories included beyond shown in the photos(as is) 2. The adjustment knob controlling the vertical position of the scope works reasonably nicely between the highest and lowest position. Moves fairly smoothly and there appear to be no kinks in the treads(see photos) 3. The microsc

Antique Brass Microscope (ca. 1875?) - Dual Power, Original Wood Case
Antique Brass Microscope Double Pillar Design Dual Power Magnification This microscope was likely made in France around the year 1875. This is based on information and photos posted on the internet. I am not an expert in this field and cannot guarantee the age or country of manufacture of this piece. Two powers of magnification are available. Unscrewing the outer objective lens provides lower power viewing. It is in very good working order. Although lenses might benefit from some cleaning. I have not detected any damage to the optics. It has a double sided mirror illuminator with the concave side being damaged(see photos) The flat mirror is excellent. The multiple aperture diaphragm under the stage is in very good condition. Other than some blemishes on the finish, I am not aware of any significant defects. Please examine photos. Height is ... moreapprox 10 inches. Beautiful brass construction. Base is cast iron with green/brass lacquered finish. 40" is stamped into the yoke holding the main tube(see photo) 11" is stamped in the corner of the bottom of the stage(see photo) Unique extension arm for magnifier. Case appears original. The top and bottom boards have some splits from drying out and there are some small paint splotches on the finish. Please refer to photos of the case. The piece inside the case that supports the neck of the microscope is loose. But is present. All latches and hinges are in good order. This piece is offered as you see it and as I have described to the best of my limited ability. Please examine the photos carefully. Contact me through eBay with any questions that you may have. I will be very happy to respond. Satisfaction is guaranteed

Swift & Son London - Antique Microscope Oil Lamp - Brass / Iron
Swift& Son London Antique Microscope Lamp* A heavy. Antique lamp with glass oil container and wick used to illuminate microscopy. It appears to be brass, but may be brass on iron. Swift& Son London is marked on the base. Components unscrew as shown in the third picture(will be posted disassembled with each component individually wrapped in a solid box to avoid any damage) As shown there is significant aging/ spotting/ scuffing to the brass/ metal– in my opinion. This gives it an interesting antique look(but that depends on your preference) Not sure if it is complete. Only includes items shown. Makes for a very neat presentation piece. Happy to ship outside the UK. Canada, and US, but please contact me beforehand to obtain a quote and confirm I can ship to your location. Antique Brass French Microscope c. 1880 C. Verick #3434, for Display, Home Decor
This is a nice. Yet incomplete example of one of Constant Verick’s microscopes from the late 1800’s, serial number 3434. C. Verick advertised himself as a élève spécial de E. Hartnack(special pupil of E. Hartnack) both in the signatures he used for some of his instruments and in his catalogs. By the mid 1870's he established his own firm where a number of different microscope models were produced, among which is the continental style model presented herein. In 1882, he was succeeded by his son-in-law Maurice Stiassnie. The base of this microscope is inscribed with“ C. Verick. Élève spécial de E. Hartnack rue de la Parcheminerie. 2, Paris” It comes with a box of lenses, but unfortunately, this microscope lacks the sub-stage aperture stop holder and more importantly its mirror. Without which it can't function. ... moreBut. It would still make a nice accent piece as home décor, or perhaps for an enthusiast that wishes to repair it. Please feel free to contact me with any questions prior to bidding. Please check out my other listings. As I have a lot of other nifty items for sale.some unusual, some vintage, ALL of them interesting! Happy Bidding! xx

ANTIQUE REICHERT WIEN BRASS SCIENTIFIC MICROSCOPE #104355 - 1900s
Up for sale is a very nice antique Reichert Austria microscope. Carl Reichert married into the Leitz family in 1874 and began manufacturing microscopes in Vienna(Austria) two years later. This and the fact that he had some of the Leitz technicians working for him explains why his instruments are so similar in design to those of Leitz. The firm was known for high quality instruments well into the 20th century when it was eventually bought out by American Optical in 1962* Background history from NJhouseholdgoods Auctions) This antique Reichert Microscope is numbered 104355 and dates approx. 1900. It has a black lacquered iron horseshoe base and. The Tube is also black lacquered and has only a single occular lens numbered 1. It has no makers identification label(not uncommon in early microscope parts at this time) The objective lens turret supports ... moreonly 2 objective lenses The one brass colored objective lens is of the the same time period as the microscope and is marked(12) 3920, Its components unscrew and can perhaps serve as a lower powered objective lens. It also has no makers identification. The second objective lens(plated brass) is a newer Reichert lens labeled- A=0.25; Ph 15:1 250 Reichert Wien. The condenser function normally with full range of iris closure. The miorror is in excellent condition on both sides. All the adjustments move freely and the microscope is in reasonably good shape for something that is over 100 years old. Sold As Is- no returns. Fast shipping- all questions answered. Thanks for looking.

You are looking a at an antique compressorium for a microscope. It is most like English from the late 19th century. It is in excellent shape. And the glass on the bottom end is nice; the cover glass is missing, and has been lost under my watch probably due to children.

This auction is for an amazing early Bausch& Lomb Universal brass microscope with original mahogany case. Additional lenses and accessories. This has the earlier one line patent on the side. There is an original B& L cardboard card for magnifying combinations that identify this as microscope number 3316. The scope is in great condition with no dents or scratches. It has four Carl Zeiss Jena eyepieces(1. 2, 3, and 6(Compens Ocular) and an adapter for them. The six needs to have the bottom lens reinserted. It looks like the retaining ring was bent. ANTIQUE REICHERT BRASS SCIENTIFIC MICROSCOPE 1900's Original Box!
Up for auction is this awesome Reichert Microscope from Austria. This is in working condition and great for its age. Comes with original box. Any question please feel free to ask. This is a awesome Antique Piece! Here is some more information about how Reichert microscopes came about! The Reichert company was founded by Carl Reichert in 1876 in Vienna. Carl Reichert was a son in law of Ernst Leitz. He learned microscopy business from Leitz in Wetzlar(Germany) and then moved to Vienna to establish his own company. His company was successful and by 1930 the 100000th microscope was produced. However in 1962. The family Reichert sold the business to the company American Optical(AO) American Optical, in turn, was taken over in 1968 by the worldwide pharmaceutical company Warner Lambert. Later. Within Warner Lambert, Reichert company was merged ... morewith Jung, another microscopy company established by Rudolf Jung in Heidelberg in 1872. In 1986 Warner Lambert sold all non-pharmaceutical companies to Cambridge Instruments(the optical company established in 1881 by the son of Charles Darwin, Horace) And finally, in 1990 Cambridge Instruments merged with the Wild Leitz to form Leica group. In 1999 Reichert stopped microscope production, concentrating to instruments for sample preparations for transmission electron microscopy. Thank you for viewing our product. Antique Leitz Wetzlar Brass Microscope with Parallel linkage No 5349
This microscope belonged to my father. What he did with it. I couldn't say. He wasn't a doctor, and actually, it was just stored away. I never saw him use it. It is in very nice condition. The brass table for slides has one place on the right side where the paint is off it in about a 1/8" area. The back of the base has some marks, something sticky that is on the paint. I didn't want to chance trying to clean them with a solvent. The lenses are all good. The fine adjustment mechanism works smoothly and has no play. The rotating disc under the table clicks in solidly to it's detents, and the mirror moves smoothly. It is certainly a nicely made instrument. I believe this style would have been considered a traveling microscope, if I am reading their history correctly. Another one like this on EBay listed it as 1908. I couldn't ... moresay for sure what year this one is. The number on the table is 5349.

Antique Brass Microscope w/ Lab. Acc.. E. Hartnack, Paris
This is one beautiful in excellent condition very old micriscope. All lenses are clean and clear. Including the mirror. No signs of damage, misuse or abuse. All functions work as brand new. This must be from the 18 hundreds. I know very little about antique microscopes as I am a machinist and can tell you this is a machinist's work of art. There is a removable compartment under the table that seems to facilitate some kind of reservoir for lab specimen viewing. It slides in and out on a dovetail. Hopefully the pictures can tell you more than I can. The barrel is engraved in script, E. Hartnack, Place Dauphine,21, Paris. I would love to keep it myself but it is on consignment and so it has to go to a real Scientist, Doctor or some medical instrument collector. Anyhow, thanks for looking and maybe even buying.

Antique Brass Optical Device w Lens Williams Brown & Earle Philadelphia 1890s
This interesting antique brass and cast iron optical device is about 5 1/2" to 6" tall(or long) and it is attached to a 6" x 4 1/4" x 3/4" thick cast iron mounting base. It has metal clips to hold a slide and it can serve as a microscope when viewed vertically. The iron base has 2 channels through it that permit the scope to be mounted horizontally in front of a light source(magic lantern)and used as a lens to project the enlarged image onto a screen. The device is heavy(approx. 3 1/2 pounds)and well made and it is marked"Williams. Brown, and Earle- Philadelphia" on the side. There is some rust on the iron base and it has a patina of age but over all the piece is in good original condition and it still functions well the way it is supposed to. My best guess as to age is 1880s-1910s. Very unusual! Payment ... morePa. residents please add an additional 6% sales tax or provide a tax exempt number. Antique FIELD MICROSCOPE Flea Glass Botanical Entomologist BRASS Magnifier 1800
Antique FIELD MICROSCOPE Flea Glass Botanical Entomologist BRASS Magnifier 1800 Greetings. Tonight we have a RARE and ANTIQUE Circa 1800 Brass Folding Microscope/ Magnifier that would have been used by a Botanist or some one in the Entomology Field a couple Cenuries ago. The Single Lens Scope comes complete in it's ORIGINAL CASE, along with the pick/ spike that would hold the leaf or insect that was being studied. I can find no name on the scope to signify a maker; but the construction is excellent and the condition is the same- the Tea Stained handle is also great and free of any chips or cracks- It is also worth mentioning that it has a nice finial on the end of the handle. I have not tried to clean or polish the brass portion; keeping the wonderful patina it has attained over the years. The case is also in good solid condition; with ... morewear spots and a few chips to the outer portion as you would expect from a piece of scientific equipment that was used outdoors in the field. Don't miss out; these do not come along very often-especially when they are complete with the case and in this condition! Please look at all the pictures(SUPERSIZE) as they are an intricate part of this description; and email me with anything that you may need clarification on. I am by no means an expert; and I want to represent all items to the best of my abilities. If you have questions. Please cast them my way. ALL OF MY ITEMS ARE GUARANTEED TO BE OLD AND ORIGINAL UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN THE AUCTION. Thanks for looking at this auction and look for more great items to be coming in the very near future! I will always combine shipping whenever possible in order to save you money. GOOD LUCK!

this is an amazing piece. From germany, circa 1840 the little drawer is hand done with very fine dovetails, its 99% complete from what I can see however I could be wrong as I am not an expert but this in looking at it makes it fantastic, very rare to see a set like this with all the pieces it includes, the box itseld is fantastic hardwodd, and old paper label on top needs removed original surface, paint loss on the scope itself, it appears mostly brass with black paint over, many little extra parts that I am not sure what they even are, fantastic Powered by The free listing tool. ANTIQUE E. LEITZ (WEZLAR) BRASS MICROSCOPE - #3
ANTIQUE E. LEITZ(WEZLAR) MICROSCOPE#3 THIS IS FROM AN ESTATE. I'M NOT SURE IF IT IS A SCIENCE OR MEDICAL MICROSCOPE( THE LENSES APPEAR TO BE BAUSCH& LOMB. I BELIEVE IT IS FROM THE 1920'S ERA( POSSIBLY EARLIER(DUE TO THE FACT THAT I DON'T SEE A BEND IN THE STEEL WHERE IT TILTS ON THE BACK SHAFT WHERE THE LENSE GOES UP AND DOWN. THE MISCROSCOPES THAT I HAVE SEEN FROM 1929"DO" HAVE THE BEND IN THE STEEL. POSSIBLY THIS IS HOW THEY MAKE THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN MEDICAL SCOPE& ONE USED FOR SCIENCE LABS? THE MICROSCOPES THAT I HAVE RE-SEARCHED BY THIS MAN ARE VERY COLLECTIBLE& RARE! THERE ARE EXTRA LENSES; BUT NO BOX OR SLIDES. THERE IS SOME WEAR TO THE BRASS ON THE SHAFT OF THE MICROSCOPE. HOWEVER OVER-ALL, IT IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. I WOULD ALSO LIKE FOR YOU TO TAKE"NOTE" OF HOW THE MICROSCOPE MEASURES: ... moreANY ONE OUT THERE WITH KNOWLEDGE& FAMILIARITY WITH E. LEITZ'S MICROSCOPES AND CAN ENLIGHTEN ME; I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE HEARING FROM YOU. YOU MAY EMAIL ME THRU EBAY MESSAGES. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO LOOK AT MY OTHER ITEMS.
