Spencer Lens Company Brass Antique Microscope, Buffalo NY, serial number 9538
Spencer Lens Company Brass Antique Microscope. Buffalo NY, serial number 9538. I am out of my area of expertise but I did a little research and found that Spencer Lens Company microscopes with serial numbers up to 10.000 had an approximate date of shipment of June of 1909. That would make this microscope 105 years old or older. The microscope has two objective lenses. One is marked 4mm NA066. The other is marked 16mm NAP.0.25. Both are marked Spencer Lens Co. The microscope seems to work and be in good condition for its age. When you look through the microscope you can see a couple small crooked lines. I don't know if these are cracks or dirt. The finish is worn. I do not understand why Brass has a brass finish. There are no case or other attachments. If you have any questions I will try to answer them. RARE Antique Brass Pasteur-Chamberland Filter Company No. 56618-Dayton, Ohio
What a piece of history! I found this while rummaging through an old antique warehouse that just went out of business after its owner retired. This filter appears to be made of brass which is heavily tarnished and green in places. It measures about 12 ½” long and about 3 ¾” in diameter. The bottom does come off(unscrews) and I’ve pictured what was inside. It has 3 long cylinders that appear to be made of a porous material– I’m guessing possibly porcelain from what I’ve read. Two of the cylinders are unfortunately broken. But luckily one remains intact. I have no idea what else might be missing, if anything. The brass label on the front of the tank reads the following: Filtre Chamberland Systeme Pasteur Brevete SGDG No. 56618 58 Rue ND de Lorette Paris Manufactured by Pasteur-Chamberland Filter Company Dayton. OH. USA Sole Licensee ... morefor the United States Canada& Mexico Patented Although I can’t find a date on this piece– I’m guessing it’s from the late 1880s or thereabouts from what I’ve read and researched. I just had to rescue this once I saw what it was and am hopeful it will find a good home. I did see that a somewhat similar item(a blowtorch) manufactured by the same company recently sold on eBay. So maybe some of those same folks will also be interested in this piece. It seems like it certainly belongs in a museum or with a mad scientist! Vintage Old Antique Spencer Lens Co Microscope Buffalo, NY U.S.A. Brass and Cast
Up for auction. Is a great example of a Vintage Antique early 1900s microscope by Spencer of Buffalo, NY, U.S.A. that I recently picked up. It has a wonderful patina, aged look to it. The serial number on this microscope is 67927. According to my research. That serial number places the Manufacturing date sometime between June 23, 1920 and May 23, 1921. This microscope is even OLDER than one that just recently sold for about $400. Both of the brass knobs turn and the mirror is intact. With"no cracks" It could use a cleaning if you prefer the polished look, but I know some collectors prefer the aged natural look, so it has been left untouched. I am no expert in microscopes. So if you have any questions or would like to request any pictures of specific areas on the microscope that are important to you before buying this piece, please ... morefeel free to message me and ask whatever you like and I will do my best to answer any questions you have, but odds are you probably know more about it than I do. ANTIQUE VERY RARE BRASS AQUARIUM MICROSCOPE, 1860's
I bought this antique aquarium microscope about 18 months ago from Professor Yuval Goren of the Tel Aviv University who is a collector of antique microscopes. I bought this to go along with my antique aquarium collection but since I have sold nearly all of them I no longer need/want this microscope to go along with the collection. Prof. Goren is a well respected professor of archaeology in Israel and sells some of the antique microscopes from his collection from time to time. Here is your chance to own one of these rare aquarium microscopes. It was also available with a sucker joint which I've included an illustration. I will also include the original description by Prof. Goren of the microscope: Offered for auction is an extremely rare brass. Iron and wood aquarium microscope, made by Collins of London, dating to the second half of the ... more19 th century. The microscope is attached to an attractive stand made of cast iron with a wooden handle and an attractive Y-shaped base in the form of dog's legs. The microscope is connected by a compass joint to a brass pole that slides into a holder attached to the stand. However. This micoscope is known to be connected also to a sucker joint that can be connected to the glass of an aquarium, as seen in the engraving(not included in this listing) copied from the Journal of the Royal Microscopic Society of 1882. Though the microscope is unsigned, according to this reference it was made by C. Collins of 77 Great Titchfield Street, London(1860s) The company moved in 1875 to 157 Great Portland Street in London. The company was closed in ca. 1890. Aquarium microscopes were used to observe aquatic organisms in an aquarium. Magnifications can be changed by a draw tube. Untypically connected to the objective(rather than the eyepiece) side of the tube. The microscope is in very good optical and cosmetic condition for the age. The brass is only lightly stained. The optics are in excellent condition and the microscope provides surprisingly high quality images. In all, this is a ver

Probably c.Late-1890's vintage. The microscope has a Patent Date of Feb. 16. 1897 on it. The microscope is in working condition. The 2 lower magnification lenses seem to magnify and focus objects fine, but I couldn't get the highest power lens to focus. Not sure why- maybe I just don't know how to properly operate machine. I know little about microscopes in general myself. Microscope looks to have it's original finish on surface. Bottom double-sided reflective mirror in good condition. The iris mechanism in the assembly above mirror opens and closes fine. The three objective lenses on microscope are Bausch& Lomb lenses. antique JOHN BROWNING London BRASS Prism SPECTROSCOPE Microscope ca. 1900
An antique Brass Prism Spectroscope by John Browning of London. I must say that I am a bit out of my league and am not exactly sure what type of Spectroscope this is. The cosmetic condition is very nice and all original. There is no evidence of wear to the varnish and the brass has a nice goldish warm tone to it. When looking tru the lens I can see the prism rainbow and an etched number scale. The view is clear and crisp. It is signed: JOHN BROWNING. 146 STRAND, LONDON. There are two caps included but the larger one has two cracks on the sides and therefore does not fit tightly enough to stay in place and the smaller cap seems to be a tad to small to fit. But they came with the Spectroscope, so they are included in the listing. The leather case shows wear and the closure is damaged. Spectroscope measures 3 1/2" x 2 1/8" Thank you ... morefor considering this listing. Shipping to PAYPAL CONFIRMED address ONLY. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING via USPS PRIORITY mail OR EXPRESS only. BAUSCH & LOMB 1899 ANTIQUE BRASS MICROSCOPE # 31580 AUGUST WAELDIN NY MCV
Welcome to TIMEPATINA! No Reserve Auction Bausch& Lomb traces its roots to 1853. When John Jacob Bausch, a German immigrant, set up a tiny optical goods shop in Rochester, New York. When he needed more money to keep the business going, Bausch borrowed $60 from his good friend, Henry Lomb. Bausch promised that if the business grew, Lomb would be made a full partner. The business did grow and the partnership was formed. In the early years, Bausch + Lomb manufactured revolutionary rubber eyeglass frames as well as a variety of optical products that required a high degree of manufacturing precision. By 1903, the firm had been issued patents for microscopes, binoculars, and even a camera shutter based on the eye’s reaction to light. In the 1900’s, Bausch + Lomb continued to demonstrate its place at the forefront of technological innovation ... morefor optical products. Bausch + Lomb produced the first optical quality glass made in America, developed ground-breaking sunglasses for the military in World War I, and created the lenses used on the cameras that took the first satellite pictures of the moon. RARE MINIATURE ANTIQUE BRASS BERTRAND MICROSCOPE CIRCA 1840
Bertrand"Furnace-Style" Microscope Pocket Field Microscope. Often referred to as a furnace type microscope. This finely detailed miniature was designed by Bertrand and stands a mere 3.0 inches tall. There is a similar model measuring 4 1/2 inches tall and is part of the Billings microscope collection at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington DC. Manufactured in France, circa 1839, the compound monocular microscope is comprised of only the most basic features. Specimens were placed atop a fixed circular stage positioned beneath the objective. Slides were held in position by sliding the movable shield down onto the slide and securing it with the milled screws on either side, I have added photos showing the shield in both positions) A pivotal mirror is housed in the lower cut-away portion of the stand and is perhaps the reason that ... morethis model is also known as a furnace type microscope. Angle of reflection for the illumination was manipulated by turning the milled-head screw that is attached to the 5/8-inch mirror. I have included a photo of the standard size microscope along side the miniature for comparison. This would make a great additon to any microscope collection, don't miss this opportunity!

Unique Antique Mahogany & Brass Microscope-Fashoned Kaleidoscope Optical Oddity
Unique Antique Mahogany& Brass Microscope-Style Kaleidoscope Optical Oddity– Est. 1800’s* Likely one-of-a-kind! You are bidding on an extremely rare antique mahogany kaleidoscope/ optical device constructed likely by hand in the fashion of a microscope. This is probably one-of-a-kind; never seen anything like this before. The chosen image is placed on the platform and rotated by hand. Further lateral adjustments can be made by adjusting the nut at the rear(some kind of metal. Appears to be brass) The viewable image is created by two angled mirrors and illuminated by an external light source such as a candle or daylight. Although I cannot find any markings. The materials used in this piece suggest it was constructed over 100 to 200 years ago. It is not obvious whether it was made as an amusement or for use as a basic scientific demonstration ... moreapparatus. Shown in the photos is a random piece of paper(not included) Inserted on the stage and reflected in mirrors positioned along the tube; a very early format of the kaleidoscope(much different from modern day) This was a very pleasant surprise when I purchased it. And a must have as soon as I saw it. The uniqueness of it has a wow-factor for me. Although not a microscope. It combines two really cool Victorian curiosities; the microscope form with the kaleidoscope function. The kaleidoscope was patented by Sir David Brewster in 1817. Although not sure the origins as there are no markings. I suspect this could be one of the first Victorian kaleidoscopes either from, inspired by or independent of Brewster. Perhaps something a handy craftsman made for their child a very long time ago? The design certainly seems unique for that era. Which leads me to suspect that it is from the early 1800’s(although cannot know year for certain) before the more common Victorian design was more commonplace. Reflective symmetry has been observed since ancient times. Legend claims that early Egyptians would place two or three slabs of highly polished limestone together at di

JONES LONDON - Antique Brass Microscope / Telescope / Field / Accessory? Signed
Beautifully Signed: Jones London Day or Night in Antique Brass* I am a bit stumped with this one. I believe it to be a small antique brass microscope for use in the field. It has a lens on each end. Nothing inside. If you put a specimen inside it, it does have a bit of magnification when held to the light. although I am not sure if this is its intended purpose? Your guess is as good as mine. or perhaps better on this one. Could also be a part/ accessory, although I am not sure how it would attach to anything else. Given the markings. It is likely by William and Samuel Jones, who are also famous for pioneering the Jones Brothers Most Improved Microscope in the late eighteenth century. I do not think this has any relation to that particular microscope design though. There are some dents. Smudges and scratches, as shown in the photos. Appears ... moreto have been polished. Certainly a neat display item. I am a big fan of these lovely old antique signatures on brass. Please do not hesitate to ask questions. Happy to ship outside the UK. Canada, and US, but please contact me beforehand to obtain a quote and confirm I can ship to your location. I reserve the right to refuse sale to any bidder that has poor or limited feedback so please check if such is the case prior to bidding. Shipping is an estimate based on conservative dimensions. I only charge the actual shipping cost. Any notable difference when dropped off at the post is refunded. Thanks for looking and kind regards!
Fine Cased Antique Brass Microscope by F & J Beck, London
The dovetailed case for this antique Beck microscope has done a good job of keeping it in excellent shape. Still a bit dusty around the edges. It could use a thorough cleaning. Pictures tell the story. Several accessories for oil, etc. Made circa 1900 by my estimate. 19246 appears to be a serial number under the Beck name. Please write with any questions. This will ship for $25.00 or less in USA by Fedex Home delivery. I accept all forms of payment.

★Antique Vintage Leitz Continental Brass Microscope w/Case Darkfield Condenser★
You are looking at an old Leitz microscope. It works fine. But one of the lenses is missing a part, and the condenser bracket no longer moves up and down freely[oil or repair? The stage is in like new condition, but missing the clips, and most of the brass and paint is in excellent condition. I bought it used for a deal because I needed a number three lens for a folding scope of similar vintage, which I swapped for a B& L lens of low power. I have what I need for homeschooling now, so I thought I would pass it on to the next person. I will listing some more microscope parts and accessories I am not going to use very shortly. The case was repaired by the previous owner and has a key; he inside is nice, but he outside is ugly; apparently, the scope was kept inside in climate control on a bookshelf and the case was stored in an attic for ... moremany years.
Antique Brass Henry Crouch Microscope Objective (Lens) & Brass Lens Cannister
This is an antique brass Henry Crouch microscope lens(objective) in a lovely brass cannister with old-style script writing on the top and numerals on the bottom. The lens fits perfectly inside the brass case and I am told it dates to possibly the 1860's. Comparative samples of Henry Crouch microscopes are here: Antique microscopes- Henry Crouch"1in- H. Crouch London" is engraved on the lid of the cylindrical case. On the bottom of the case is engraved a number 1 over number 5. The lens is approximately 3/4" in diameter at the threads. Length is approximately 1 11/16" from end to end. The case is approximately 1 9/16" high and the diameter is 1 1/8" The brass cap is threaded and fits perfectly. I ship promptly and pack carefully. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
Antique Brass Microscope. Mid-1800's. Drum / Martin Type. Bone Slides.
From the estate of a university professor: FABULOUS ANTIQUE BRASS MICROSCOPE. DRUM/ MARTIN-TYPE. 10 to 11.5 inches tall. Depending on the position of the scope. Estimated to be from the mid-1800’s. And what appears to be the number one lens in the series is not numbered. Six Bone Slides One Small Brass Canister Magnifying Glass Box And. Some items that I cannot identify! Note that the top lens appears as if it should screw in but the threads on the lens do not meet those in the top of the microscope. Please also note that the mirror shows considerable tarnish. The brass has a beautiful antique patina. Scope adjusts via knob and moves very smoothly between the highest and lowest positions. Box and ... morevelvet lining show some wear. Lid closes completely. However, it does not latch and there is no key. It appears that some sort of a brass plate is missing from the top of the box. As I have no knowledge of microscopes. Please review photos carefully! Antique Brass Microscope in Dove Tail Wood Case with Slides & Extras cir. 1900's
Photo gallery. Click to enlarge. DETAILS Antique Microscope Brass& Cast Iron in Dove Tail Wood Case with Slides& Extras This listing is for an antique microscope in a beautiful wooden case. This piece is not marked anywhere. So we're not certain who made it or when, but based on the materials used and the style, we're guessing this dates back to the early 1900's. This microscope features a cast iron base, brass upper and a cast aluminum center section. The microscope has one adjustable eye piece, a rotating dial that lets in differing amounts of light and and adjustable magnifying glass on the bottom. It comes in a beautiful wooden case(possibly mahogany) that has dovetail joint construction and is really nicely built. The case has two drawers that are packed with glass slides, an extra eye piece, glycerin for setting ... morethe slides and some tools. This is a great set that would look amazing as a piece of decor, or would be a great addition to any vintage medical instrument collection! Condition: This piece is antique and used with some wear. The microscope is hard to focus. But appears to be working as intended. It may need some slight adjustments to work perfectly, but we see magnified, lighted images when we can get it to focus a little. There is light wear to the housing with some light tarnishing on the brass. The case is in good condition, but the two drawers in the case appear to be replacements and not original. Please look closely at the photos for condition details and ask us any questions before bidding. Dimensions: The microscope itself measures 4-1/4" x 10-1/2" x 5" and the case measures 5-1/2" x 11-1/2" x 5" PLEASE NOTE- WE SHIP FEDEX WED-FRI. Antique Rare Jug Handle Bausch & Lomb Brass Microscope in box
Antique Jug Handle Bausch and Lomb Brass Microscope circa 1907 This microscope is sold"as is" for I know nothing about microscopes. I am able to look through both lens. So they must work. Serial number is faint but seems to read 66734 which I believe places the date of this scope to about 1907. Antique Brass Field Pocket Microscope Eyepiece Magnifying Glass Etc
Here is a lot of antique scientific field instruments. I'm not exactly sure what they were all used for. There is one that is a pocket brass microscope for looking at slides. The other brass piece looks to be for the eyepiece of an early field microscope. Then there is another metal piece with tripod legs that I think was for using a magnifying lens. But the lens is not there. Then there is a little magnifying glass with clip for attaching to table and last is a little glass cup that has some a little magnifying lens on the end of it. Interesting lot, brass pieces measure approx. 1 13/16" in length.
