While I am passionate about antique microscopes and enjoy hanging onto them briefly as a hobby/ admirer. This instrument is unsigned and does not have a serial number. The instrument features a dual trunnion plate support for the stage and the rest of the instrument along with the classic bar limb design that was pioneered in England by Andrew Ross. The microscope most likely dates from circa 1870 or later. It has a revolving turret for 3 lenses and comes with four different B+L objective lenses, each one in its matching brass container. They are marked: 1/12, 1/6, 2/3, ... moreand 8mm. There also are 3 eyepiece lenses, one marked B+L 12.5, the other faintly on the side B+L 1 in. the other has marks but they are too faint to make out, perhaps B+L 2 in. Also there is a copper? metal container with an old glass bottle for immersion oil inside. The wooden case comes with a key and the lock works. A small drawer is located at the top of the case. This E. Leitz Weizlar Microscope circa 1930 is# 129854 It comes in the original wooden box with all the accessories included. As indicated by all the slots filled in the box. Box is lined with purple velvet in good condition. Original leather covering on wooden box has deteriorated and is flaking off. Wood and metal corners are in tact. Could have leather replaced. Appears to lock, but no key is included. Original brass Shows signs of age with some rust 1/12. 3 and 6 engraved on the cases for the lenses 2 eye pieces included Mirror appears to be in good condition without scratches. I believe this was used by my father-in-law at Medical School at the University of Nebraska. It's been stored all these years. Needs some airing out.

Bausch and Lomb continental microscope circa 1903. This has a fully adjustable slide manipulator. There is wear to the plating on the manipulator. There is an adjustment knob broken off the the side on the manipulator. It is present though. The large dial on top of the main shaft is loose and not connected to anything. It currently does not adjust anything. The lever to tilt the microscope is stuck. I did not want to force it and risk breaking the handle. All other knobs and adjustments appear to be working. This has three eye pieces; 7.5. 1 and 2. There are three objectives; 2/3. 1/6 and 1/12. All three have brass storage containers. The mirror is plano and concave. The box is locked and the latch has been pulled out of the door. The only damage is the screw holes are stripped. There are many photos. This auction is for a well preserved Bausch& Lomb brass and black painted iron microscope. It has a few small marks and imperfections. But it is in generally shiny and new condition. It has the choice of two objectives and two different eyepieces. There is a blue glass piece and an extra set of slide holders. They come in a fitted box with a small plastic cover for the microscope. The wood box is 6 3/4 inches long x 2 7/8 inches wide x 2 1/2 inches tall. It has brass latches. The number 84 is written on inside of lid. The microscope has an adjustable mirror to focus the light. It is 6 1/4 inches unextended and fully extended is close to 8 inches. There are no slides with the microscope. So we can't tell if it actually works properly. We can see light through the opening when the mirror is adjusted and magnification seems to increase as it extends. It marked Made in France on the side. 1. I bought this at a Radio Swap in Michigan about 6 years ago, because of its excellent condition and impressive look. I can tell you what I know. Engraved on one of the feet is Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester, N.Y. On the base at the top rear is stamped 36832. The base appears to be Solid Brass with some kind of Bone or Ivory Locking Adjustment Arm/Handle. It has 3 Objective Lens, which are marked(1) 1mm, 1/12, 1.32 N.A. 160.0mm Tube Length, 2) 2/3, 0.24 N.A. 160.0mm Tube Length, and(3) 4mm, 0.65, 43x, 2/3. The Microscope is stamped Pat. Feb. 16. 1897. It once held a piece of engineering or scientific equipment. The heavy brass cradle is still mounted in the box. And it all unfolds out. The mahogany box measures 9 3/8” x 8 5/8” x 6 3/4” and weighs 11 lbs. 4 oz, unpacked. The box has some dovetails and has very heavy brass fittings, including a folding handle. The lock is still there, but the key isn’t. The condition is Good. Used, with some corner wear, some cuts in the wood on the side with the hinges. All of the construction remains solid. I believe this is from the 1800s and wonder how it was used. It is awkward to use and is more a curio then a useful tool. Here is an interesting and unusual old brass scientific instrument or some sort of steam whistle perhaps. Originally from the estate of a collector of train. Ship and military items, I've had it for years and never had any idea what it was used for. It appears to be some sort of gauge to measure pressure possibly. The only markings I can find are the letters"sp.gr" on the ruler which I think is for Specific Gravity. There may be some missing components. Stands 18" high and has a few shallow dings. The box closes with two brass catches on the front. The microscope measures 6 inches high and 1.9 inches wide. The brass surface and mirror have some corrosion. I have not tried to clean it. The mirror is missing one of it's screws. The inside box pieces need to be glued. The lenses look good. Could use some tender loving care. A great restoration project! This is an Antique 1800s R& J Beck Brass Microscope with its original Case& Accessories. This microscope has never been shined up so there is a lot of surface wear that has not been altered. There is also a part that goes where you look at your speciman that has a circular glass lens that is cracked. The case is very well constructed and has the original key. Even the tweezers have somehow stayed with this scope. The number 8918 is on the edge of one of the feet. ANTIQUE A.S. ALOE BRASS MICROSCOPE WITH 3 LENSES AND OTHER ACCESSORIES IN ORIGINAL WOODEN BOX This extraordinary microscope was made by the A. S. Aloe Company of St. Louis Missouri. The company started using the name A. S. Aloe& Company in 1885 but I have no way of knowing when the microscope was actually made. It appears to be turn of the century and all brass as far as I can tell. The microscope and two of the lens cases are imprinted A. S. ALOE- CO ST. LOUIS. But there is no serial number. Hopefully the photographs will help to date this item. The wooden case was made to house three lens cases but along the way someone crafted a second housing that holds two additional lens cases. see photo#7) The rest of the case pieces appear to be all original. There are two eyepieces- a one-inch and a two-inch. There are five brass lens cases as ... morefollows: 1) One brass case imprinted A. S. ALOE- CO ST. TUBE LENGTH 160.0 MM. 5) One brass case imprinted BAUSCH& LOMB OPTICAL CO ROCHESTER N.Y. NEW YORK CITY and the designation IMMERSION OIL. The bottle is still about 1/3 full of the oil! I believe that the handcrafted two-lens housing was made to house the oil immersion lens case and the immersion oil case. Lenses are marked as follows Lens 1. 1/12" Carl Zeiss Jena 43691 HI 90 1.25" and Lens 2. D Carl Zeiss Jena 49254 40 0.65 0.17" and Lens 3. A Carl Zeiss Jena 54994* 0.2" Eyepiece is marked"Carl Zeiss Jena 10x" Condition: A used scope. But NOT as it appears to me to ever have been used as a"School, Scope. This one has far less wear& tear on it than those typically do. That said, It does have some signs of normal use, including some finish discoloration and loss, this is partially due ... moreto the fact that this Great Scope's Factory Finish is- in part- clear lacquer over an Unusually Heavy SOLID Brass/Bronze Stand or Frame. The lacquer over-coat often get's discoloration over time in spots and patches from human handling. But these areas can be buffed out to an absolutely fantastic- incredible"Golden, shine or even a mirror polish if you want to take the time to do that. Scope works. Focus and Fine Focus work, Mirror spins and revolves, Diaphragm blades open and close easily and look very good, lower stage goes up and down smoothly, tilt works fine, turret revolves just fine. M issing are the 2 hold down pins. To hold a glass slide in place, but these are usually long gone from these Antique Scopes. Side screws for adjustments on either side of the table maybe bent from falling over, or may have come that way, as they match pretty well( I am not sure how perfect any of the lenses are. But at this point in it's life, this Lovely Scope is pretty much definitely going to a Collector/Buyer for Display Only anyway, which brings me to a Main $$$$ Selling Point.
