Brass ... moreMicroscope My clients husband found this microscope in the remains of an old building and cleaned it up very well. Most all the adjustable parts move. Though some are a little harder than others. It is missing 1 of the 3 magnifying lenses that can rotate to any one of the 3 positions. It may be missing other parts that I don't know about. The eye piece does not appear to be the proper one for this scope, but does fit in the chamber. The mirror at the base does have blemishes on both sides. It has many more options than some of the other scopes that I have found from this era. It has 2 patent dates that I can find, one from Feb 1897& one from Aug. 1897. The serial number is on the base#26739. It is 14 1/2" Tall x 6" Deep x 4 1/4" Wide I was unable to really see anything as I didn't have the knowledge or the material to test. I'm sure that it does need some restoration. Though it is a great looking decorative piece as it sits. This is the condition it has been in for many years and I did not attempt to polish or take apart to clean. I am going to do my best to describe this antique ... morebrass microscope. But as I am not an expert by any means in this area please forgive any incorrect terminolgy. Any questions or information is all welcomed and appreciated. This microscope is made of brass and black metal. All we have done is to dust this piece. So the brass. Although warm appears scratched. It looks really retro as it is. But I would think if you wanted to use it you would need to shine it up. I leave the cleaning of these valuable older treasures to the experts. The base is black and measures 5 1/2" longest) 3 3/4" widest) Base does have minimal surface rust(photo 7) and a screw that does turn. I think this screw may tighten the base into place. Back of base has a round metal plate that I think is brass. It reads: Bausch& Lomb Optical Rochester N.Y. New York City. The Bausch is a little hard to read. The mirror rotates and swings freely. The mirror measures 1 3/4" across. The metal around one side of the the mirror has some age rust(photo 7) One side of the mirror magnifies the other is just regular mirror. The mirror side that does not magnify has some silver loss around the edge(see photo 7) this does not seem to effect the visiblity. The mirror will be removed for shipping as to decrease the risk of breakage. The area that holds the slides is black, the two slide holders are intact with good movement and I think they are brass. The opening in slide stage is 1/2" The underside of the slide plate has a circular dial I believe brass piece. This circular dial has 4 holes, I think they are used to regulate the light that reaches the mirror. This dial moves freely and the largest opening measures 1/2" across. The microscope raises up and down without problems but may need to be lubricated. At the tallest it is 14" retracted 11" The piece closest to the slide stage is marked: Bausch& Lomb 16 mm 0.25 N.A. T

Antique Bausch & Lomb Optical Triple Head Microscope & Case. Aug.1897 Very Nice!
Up for Auction is a Very Rare Antique Bausch& Lomb Optical Triple Head Microscope& Case. Aug.1897 Very Nice! They are in great shape but some of the black paint is missing and the brass is tarnished. The Case has a hole in the front(from what I do not know) and also there is no key for the lock. There is some other marks in the wood on the case. It also has some glass slides and a empty cover glasses box. See Pictures) It has Bausch Lomb Optical Pat Aug 24. 97 stamped on the microscope. Has a serial# 81547 and was made in Rochester New York. This would make a great addition to your collection or to use. It has 3 containers for the lens and a additional eye piece. I have not tried to clean or repair this in any way. This is a very rare 1897 beautiful brass optical microscope(serial#54261) by Bausch and Lomb Optical Co. and Arthur H. Thomas Co. All parts appear to be working great. However. Everything needs a good cleaning. It includes all lenses in a wooden display box. Comes with a glass diplay dome as well. The dome has a few scratches on it, and needs a good cleaning, but what a beautiful way to display this microscope! Microscope stands 15.25" tall when fully extended. This beautiful Bausch& Lomb continental style microscope has a serial# 17957 which means it was made in the mid to late 1890's. The brass has a beautiful aged patina and the observation draw tube has the original nickel plating. This collectable microscope is still functional! It features two original Bausch& lomb working objective lenses. An original eyepiece lens and a substage condenser with adjustable iris opening to control lighting. Early Antique Bausch & Lomb Universal Brass Microscope W/ Case and Accessories
This auction is for an amazing early Bausch& Lomb Universal brass microscope with original mahogany case. Additional lenses and accessories. This has the earlier one line patent on the side. There is an original B& L cardboard card for magnifying combinations that identify this as microscope number 3316. The scope is in great condition with no dents or scratches. The varnish is crazed in some areas. There are spots of tarnish as well. I will not clean the microscope. I will let the winning bidder decide on the finish. Everything moves easily with precision. It has four Carl Zeiss Jena eyepieces(1. 2, 3, and 6(Compens Ocular) and an adapter for them. The six needs to have the bottom lens reinserted. It looks like the retaining ring was bent. The lens has no issues. It also has five B& L eyepieces(two bases are labeled A and two ... moreare labeled C, and one labeled D but the lenses are etched A, 1, D, and unetched) There is a C base with no upper that is different from the other four. There are four objective lenses(3/4, 1/5, 1/6, and 4/10) with brass cases. There is a B& L rotating"shutter" piece(pic. 8) that when rotated closed metal shutter in the small hole. A brass adapter for an eyepiece? A dual stage adapter for the objectives. Also included is a rare example of a James L. Antique jug handle 1917 Bausch & Lomb Microscope
1917 Jug handle Bausch& Lomb microscope. Serial number on eyepiece tube is 125673. Which would correspond to a 1917 manufacture date. Course and fine focus mechanisms move smoothly and focus to a crystal-clear view. Optics are clear and sharp with great color and contrast. The plano-concave mirror is excellent on both sides. The instrument is finished in lacquered brass and painted black brass. The two objectives are engraved with Bausch& Lomb and the following: 4 mm 0.85 and 16 mm 0.25 N.A. Two metal objective containers painted black and labeled with 4 mm and 16 mm(corresponding to objectives) The eyepiece is 10X. Dovetailed, wooden case without lock, but with clasp. Box interior has had repairs. This microscope is a functional, very beautiful piece of scientific history.

You are bidding on this Antique Brass Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Microscope with 2 lenses. It measures about 11 1/2 inches high when adjusted all the way down. Marked on the back knob is Pat. Feb 16 1897. On the eyepiece lens top is 7.5& in a triangle B-L Z S. The eyepiece is in very good condition. Both sides of the bottom mirror look fine. There are some marks and scratches on the brass throughout but it looks pretty good. The part that turns and the lenses screw into has a black paint coating on top of the brass. The black is flaking off in spots. The one lens is marked 1/6 and that's it. The other brass lens has"Bausch& Lomb Optical Co Rochester N.Y. 16mm 0.25 N.A. The lenses need lightly cleaned. Beautiful brass antique microscope Bausch Lomb with case lenses
Up for bids is a wonderful brass and enamel microscope from a local estate. It come in the original case. The lenses are original and come with the small containers as well. The microscope is about 14" tall. All the moving parts move as they should. The box is worn and could stand some re-gluing. There is some wear to the scope as shown. Displays beautifully. Grandpa's Microscope. Nice old Bausch& Lomb. Serial#34815. Believe it to be early 1900's. Originally purchased from A.S. Aloe Co. St. Louis, MO. This is engraved on the base. Microscope is 13 inches tall. Base is 4 1/4 inches. 2 Objectives, 2/3& 1/12. Eyepiece is marked#1. Pivots at base. Condenser(aperature does work) light source mirror. It is missing the rear adjusting knob which would have the patten date on it. One similar read patten date 1897. Also missing one of the slide holder clips. Antique 1915 brass Bausch& Lomb microscope. Serial number 101997. All 3 feet swing out. Has a 16mm. 4mm, 1.9mm lenses, Includes a partially filled bottle of cedar oil, a blue lens, 2 eyepieces- 5& 10. Microscope stands 11 3/4. I don’t have any slides but light goes through. double sided mirror. Condition- everything seems to work as it is suppose to. Has been lightly cleaned. I didn’t find any missing or broken pieces. It will need a deep cleaning. I didn’t want to risk improper cleaning. Lenses have there cases. The case- when I found it, the box was locked with no key. After all attempts, I had to remove the back and some of the felted supports. It is missing the back of the box- I thought I had it but I can’t find it. I believe this is a late 19th Century microscope. The only number on it is"63" on the outside of both feet. It weights about 4lbs. 8 ozs. and is 10 1/2" tall when compressed. All parts seem to be working. The stand tilts, there are two sides to the mirror, the focus works and the bottom lens says"16mm" and"025 NA" Inscribed on the top of the wishbone shaped stand leg is"Bausch& Lomb Optical Co, Rochester N.Y. and New York City"

It has some nice features: Original Bausch and Lomb objective marked 43X 4mm.65 Patented Oct 13. 1925 Bausch and Lomb objective marked 10X 16mm.25 Original Eyepiece is marked Bausch and Lomb. And has a'1' marked on it. Square. Solid stage for placing specimens on Extra deep throat for working with larger specimens. This was not a student model but a professional instrument. The upper body inclines for easier focusing of light and use. Substage condensor and diapraghm are both working condition Both sides of the substage mirror are working and in nice condition. Nice golden lacquer on objectives and wheels. Square stage with one slide holder, fine focus working ... moreand gross focus working as well. Marked'66' in red paint on rear of horseshoe base(probably for medical school work) While it could use some cleaning, it is a mechanically sound instrument showing signs of wear that could be nicely cleaned up for use. Optics are usable, noting some needed cleaning and signs of wear. I could easily see the fibers in a piece of paper with writing on it. It would make a great display piece for the office. Desk, or a great"real" microscope for the kids to play with. Bausch and Lomb. Long associated with optics manufacturing, first made spectacles, and later microscopes and accessories. Their first microscope was produced in 1874. Microscopes were produced sparingly in the early years, with only 150 serial numbers on record in the first year 1876, and less than 2000 total made by 1883. In the 1940s they produced close to 10,000 per year, and their microscope division was finally sold in 1987. Please see photos for condition. Antique Bausch & Lomb Optical Simple Monocular Dissecting Microscope Medical
Label says Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester NY 133384. The two lenses say Coddington B& L O. CO. and one is 19mm the other is 38mm. Tongue and groove wooden box has shelf for lenses. Brass handle and hinges. Generally good conditions. A little spotting on one side of the mirror but the other side is perfect and minor rust on the screw tops. Bausch& Lomb. Of Rochester New York, introduced this simple monocular dissecting microscope in 1903. The instrument is supported by a sturdy brass horseshoe-shaped base that secures a four-inch tubular pillar upon which the stage and eyepiece(ocular) are mounted. A swinging arm that houses the ocular is attached to the top of the pillar. The stage plate is four and a half inches square and has a glass specimen plate of the same size. The substage double mirror is attached to the pillar via ... morea swinging tailpiece. Focus is achieved with a triangular bar through a rack and pinion gear mechanism that moves the stage up and down on the pillar.

Probably c.Late-1890's vintage. The microscope has a Patent Date of Feb. 16. 1897 on it. The microscope is in working condition. The 2 lower magnification lenses seem to magnify and focus objects fine, but I couldn't get the highest power lens to focus. Not sure why- maybe I just don't know how to properly operate machine. I know little about microscopes in general myself. Microscope looks to have it's original finish on surface. Bottom double-sided reflective mirror in good condition. The iris mechanism in the assembly above mirror opens and closes fine. The three objective lenses on microscope are Bausch& Lomb lenses. Microscope ... morewas found in this antique wooden case which has old and worn ebonized patina on exterior surface. There are no extra lenses in the box but has three empty Spencer storage tubes for lenses found in the storage racks. Also some kind of Spencer glass plate or slide of some kind with serial#5914 etched on it. Also a full bottle of Immersion Oil for objectives. The box has no key for the lock. You are bidding on a Antique Bausch& Lomb Microscope with a jug handle. It measures 5 4/8" x 4" x 12 4/8" in the closed position) The eye piece and the adjustment screws move just fine. They may just need to be oiled if that is possible. The nose piece also moves just fine and clicks the objectives in place. It is missing the slide clips and we believe the substage condenser is missing. It does have some paint loss and scratching from use. The mirror doesn't have cracks and only seems to have some very small spots on it on one side. It does appear to work when we look through the eye piece, but we have not tested it with a slide or object. We do not know as much as we would like about this piece so please ask questions if you have any. See pictures for condition since all individuals have their own opinion. Antique Bausch + Lomb Brass Microscope Serial#22885 w/ Accessories + Wood Case This is for a Vintage Antique Bausch + Lomb Brass Microscope Serial#22885 with several accessories in the original Wood Case. Approximately 11 in. tall when turned all the way down. 4-1/4 in. wide, and 5-3/4 in. deep. Very Good condition, light wear, see also pictures. There are no breaks, chips, or cracks. Wooden case has some wear, and a crack in back. This microscope is marked Bausch + Lomb on the base. The serial number is 22885. It has a mirror for lighting. And the part that swings out(below the object stage) also has a light blue glass piece that one can move in or out of the path of light. It has a revolving turret for 3 lenses and comes with four different B+L objective lenses, each one in its matching brass container. They are marked: 1/12, 1/6, 2/3, ... moreand 8mm. There also are 3 eyepiece lenses, one marked B+L 12.5, the other faintly on the side B+L 1 in. the other has marks but they are too faint to make out, perhaps B+L 2 in. Also there is a copper? metal container with an old glass bottle for immersion oil inside. The wooden case comes with a key and the lock works. A small drawer is located at the top of the case. This was a working microscope back in the day and was used as you can tell. All the main parts seem to work fine, but it will need a good cleaning etc. What a great old piece! Wow! Bausch and Lomb continental microscope circa 1903. This has a fully adjustable slide manipulator. There is wear to the plating on the manipulator. There is an adjustment knob broken off the the side on the manipulator. It is present though. The large dial on top of the main shaft is loose and not connected to anything. It currently does not adjust anything. The lever to tilt the microscope is stuck. I did not want to force it and risk breaking the handle. All other knobs and adjustments appear to be working. This has three eye pieces; 7.5. 1 and 2. There are three objectives; 2/3. 1/6 and 1/12. All three have brass storage containers. The mirror is plano and concave. The box is locked and the latch has been pulled out of the door. The only damage is the screw holes are stripped. There are many photos. This auction is for a well preserved Bausch& Lomb brass and black painted iron microscope. It has a few small marks and imperfections. But it is in generally shiny and new condition. It has the choice of two objectives and two different eyepieces. There is a blue glass piece and an extra set of slide holders. They come in a fitted box with a small plastic cover for the microscope. Hinges work well. Pictures tell the story but in nice condition overall, some imperfections in the mirror, as happens over time. On the microscope you will find the 1.9mm. Oil Imm 1/12 1.32 16mm, and 4mm 0.65 objectives and 10 eyepiece. In the box, there is a 16mm 0.25 objective in the storage tube, 4mm and 1.9mm storage tubes for objectives, a 2 eyepiece taht seems too large for this microscope, a 5 eyepiece and an extra 10 eyepiece. The condition is excellent. With a tiny bit of paint chipping and oxidation here and there. All parts move smoothly and the knobs and aperture work as they should. The brass column does not raise up and down when the side wheels are turned. The left side turning knob is bent. It has been stored for many years. Here's really nice BAUSCH& LOMB Antique Microscope that has its Original Wood Case. I don't collect microscopes. But mainly collect and sell radios. I bought this at a Radio Swap in Michigan about 6 years ago, because of its excellent condition and impressive look. I can tell you what I know. Engraved on one of the feet is Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester, N.Y. On the base at the top rear is stamped 36832. The base appears to be Solid Brass with some kind of Bone or Ivory Locking Adjustment Arm/Handle. It has 3 Objective Lens, which are marked(1) 1mm, 1/12, 1.32 N.A. 160.0mm Tube Length, 2) 2/3, 0.24 N.A. 160.0mm Tube Length, and(3) 4mm, 0.65, 43x, 2/3. The Microscope is stamped Pat. Feb. 16. 1897. There 2 Eye Pieces which are marked 1. The Objective Lens have Storage Containers, with the size stamped on top, and seem to ... morematch the lens. Everything appears to be in good shape and operates and moves smoothly. Case appears to be Mahogany, locks and has the Key. I don't know a lot, but will try to answer any questions you may have. Patent date refers to the 1897 patent#588.689, a copy of which is attached. Scales are graduated in millimeters. Index blocks are"vernier-style" 10 graduations over 9 mm. The logo area is plainly visible. Tiny chips. Scratches& flakes in the lacquer all-over. The slide or object-holding arm is in tact. Everything operates as intended. Both arms travel easily on dovetailed ways over their entire range. This is not my area of expertise.
