The mirror rotates and swings freely. The mirror measures 1 3/4" across. The metal around one side of the the mirror has some age rust(photo 7) One side of the mirror magnifies the other is just regular mirror. The mirror side that does not magnify has some silver loss around the edge(see photo 7) this does not seem to effect the visiblity. The mirror will be removed for shipping as to decrease the risk of breakage. The area that holds the slides is black, the two slide holders are intact with good movement and I think they are brass. The opening in slide stage is 1/2" The underside of the slide plate has a circular dial I believe brass piece. This circular dial has 4 holes, I think they are used to regulate the light that reaches the mirror. This dial moves freely and the largest opening measures 1/2" across. The microscope raises up and down without problems but may need to be lubricated. At the tallest it is 14" retracted 11" The piece closest to the slide stage is marked: Bausch& Lomb 16 mm 0.25 N.A. T

This is a wonderful Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. microscope. Patent date is Jan. 5. 1915. I don't see a model number on it, but has all the tiny writing and tiny numbers of the strength of lenses etc. It is in wonderful working order. Everything glides smoothly, unscrews smoothly to clean lenses etc. I even saw tiny little organisms on slides through it! The case is sturdy and has that beautiful age to the wood. The joints are tight and the top drawers that hold lenses slide out easily and nicely. If you have any questions- please don't hesitate to ask. This is a really great piece. Oh! and it has it's key! Offered for auction is a fine Bausch& Lomb portable microscope Model BHP S.N. 74484. Dating to 1908. This full research microscope is housed compactly in a 29 x 19 x 8 cm mahogany carrying case. It sets up by simply spreading the hinged base. Then swinging the stage 90 0 and locking it into place. The profile of this instrument features an integrated"jug handle" cut into the squared off limb. A design that became popular among some producers between ca. 1900 and 1920. This B&L"Portable Microscope Model BHP" has all the features and rigidity of their research stands. But in a convenient traveling form. Not many of these microscopes were produced, because their price was over two times the price of a regular B&L Model BH desk-top microscope. Reference: The Billings Collection catalogue: P. 127 No. AFIP 49447; ... morep. 118. Fig. 223. The original optics that come with this microscope are all signed by Carl Zeiss. The set even has the original Eder immesion oil in an original bottle fitting a special slot inside the case. The case is complete. The inner and outer condition is very good. The original brass lock is completely functional but the original key was missing when I bought the set. However, the microscope will be supplied with a modern fitted key that enables safe locking and unlocking of the case. This is an extremely well-preserved set of an early scientific instrument. Produced by one of the most respected American maker with optic made by the best German maker of the time. During the early 20th century, B&L and Carl Zeiss formed a partnership hence the combined features of this microscope. Nice Antique Vintage Early 1900's bausch & Lomb Optical Co. Microscope Wood Case

Questions encouraged.I do not see any cracked lenses and the mirror is not cracked on either side. All lenses are clear but one has a hair or something inside of it which I think you can see in the pictures. All of the knobs work smoothly. The paint is worn where you would place the slide and it looks rusty but it may be the base coat of paint as the finish is nice and smooth. It comes with the extra lenses as shown. 135 year Old Bausch& Lomb Field Microscope While appearing to be a toy microscope. This microscope was manufactured by Bausch and Lomb, Rochester, NY, as a premium for Orange Judd Company’s American Agriculturist magazine, as a tool for farmers to examine seeds and insect pests. By the 1880s farmers were using microscopes to examine their pork for trichina cysts– the source of trichinosis. The microscope has three pivoting lenses and its original glass slide. The cardboard box is aged but in original condition without restoration or any paper loss- Please note the inscription on the inside lid that says it was received an January 28. 1878 Microscope: 2” high x 2” diameter at base. A number 180510 is stamped on top where the ocular goes in. The microscope has four leveling screws as legs. There is a side piece for illuminating a specimen from above which is used for metallurgical work. It has the following oculars: 5X. 6.4X, 10X, 7.5X It has the following objectives: 165 mm TL 8 mm 0.50 16 mm 0.25 165 mm TL 1.9 mm 1.25 oil Imm 165 mm TL 4 mm 0.85 There is a 5th one with no numbers or identification The first four objectives listed are labeled BAUSCH& LOMB OPT.CO. A beautiful c. 1900 Bausch and Lomb microscope with brass. Nickle plated brass and ebonized steel. The microscope has three objective lenses, two eye pieces, original mahogany fitted box(with one drawer for additional lenses and one for objectives[with the three original brass objective cases] It has a double mirror(one flat and one convex) and has a swing out light and an elaborate concentration prism. Serial number"48854" is on a placque attached to the horseshoe shaped base. The original box has a brass and nickle carrying handle and a functioning lock and key. hey there folks. Up for sale today is a 1923 folding bausch and lomb microscope. the year 1923 was determined by the the serial number of 169745 on one of the legs. comes with its original box. item spells of age. I did no cleaning what so ever to it. it has more potential to clean up. marked 8-16, rochester n.y. u.s.a. not sure if item is complete. looks as though it is missing a lense at the very top. sound like that is pretty easily unscrewed and replaced with almost any one of the same size. the mirror goes side to side, and up and down. mirror has some blemishes. something that could be cleaned up. personally don't understand the spacing for where a slide would go and the bottom of the scope. looks like it would have to sit on the slide. or with the scope at a unscrewed point. great piece. plenty of photos to see its beauty and imperfections. ... morehow will you look at 90 years old. any questions feel free to ask. free fast priority shipping.

Antique/ vintage microscope. Has a decal under the stage" Chicago Lens& instrument Co. Tube is marked" Bausch& Lomb Optical Co, Rochester NY" Didn't find any info online for the Chicago Lens Company. Apparently the Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. name was used between 1876 to the mid 40's. Comparing the styles, I would place a guess ion the 1920's, but please use your own knowledge to help you determine the type and vintage of this. Has a two lens turret, lenses are Bausch& Lomb with one marked 4mm 0.85 and the other 16mm 0.25. Eyepiece lens is marked only with 10x. There is a diaphragm under the stage. It moves a bit, but is stiff to turn and the shutter looks to be a bit distorted. Adjuster moves the tube up and down as it should. The large brass knob at the top of the arm doesn't move easily. I didn't ... moretry to loosen it with any tools. My knowledge of microscopes it pretty limited and I didn't want to do any damage. The pivot between the base and tube appears to require a special tool to loosen, so I left it alone as well. Stands 13 3/4 tall extended. Base is 7 x 4. Has some wear, tarnish and accumulated dust. I imagine it will shine up pretty decent, but will let the new owner decide on the look desired. Kind of has the old unused dusty laboratory look as it sits. Base and parts are cast iron, the rest of the parts are brass. I think this will make a nice addition to a collection or look great as a decorating piece. Check out my! It is marked Bausch + Lomb Rochester on the lenses and t is a coin plate on it marked with serial number 4465. This serial number dates from 1903. It appears to be in working order. The item up for sale in this auction is a Bausch& Lomb Optical Company Microscope. There is a patent date of February 2nd. 1897 on the micro focus adjustment wheel. I tested all of the lenses using a piece of paper with writing on it, each lens was able to get a fairly clear picture. The mirror does have some blemishes on it and some appear to be permanent. The frame of the microscope is all brass and is in pretty good shape. There is definitely some wear and tarnish on it but nothing major. I can't find any missing pieces and everything appears to be in really good working condition. The microscope will be shipped out in a wooden case along with a box of about a dozen glass slides. I believe the serial number of this microscope places the date at approximately 1895. The scope functions well and seems to work fine. The pictures with both objectives viewing slides are very clear and in focus. The focus knob works smoothly. I think the box is the original one and is in good shape. With the exception of a crack on top and on one side. There is no key to the lock. There are a few nicks in the paint on the base, as you can see in the pictures. Very nice aged lacquer. Up for sale is a antique Bausch& Lomb Microscope& case with all the lenses. It is in its original cherry wood or walnut wood box. the key does not lock though. it is the right type but it does not work. the pat. date on the microscope is dec. 1st 1908. It is made of heavy cast iron with brass and comes with an antique case of 100 plus slides with old specimens still on them from the university of Chicago and you will not Believe what they are. just take a look at the numbered list on the inside lid of the slide case. this set came from the University of Chicago. The owner was a famous Illustrator named A.B. STREEDAIN, He was a world war 1 vet and a war illustrator for medical journals, if you search his name on the web you will see him in several books for his inside of the human body Illustrations. Up for auction(sale) is a Vintage Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Brass Microscope My clients husband found this microscope in the remains of an old building and cleaned it up very well. Most all the adjustable parts move. Though some are a little harder than others. It is missing 1 of the 3 magnifying lenses that can rotate to any one of the 3 positions. It may be missing other parts that I don't know about. The eye piece does not appear to be the proper one for this scope, but does fit in the chamber. The mirror at the base does have blemishes on both sides. It has many more options than some of the other scopes that I have found from this era. It has 2 patent dates that I can find, one from Feb 1897& one from Aug. 1897. We do have a letter that was written to Bausch& Lomb to find out more information about the microscope. They ... moresent a reply which stated that they do not know to whom it was sold to, but it is circa 1897. The serial number is on the base#26739. It is 14 1/2" Tall x 6" Deep x 4 1/4" Wide I was unable to really see anything as I didn't have the knowledge or the material to test. I'm sure that it does need some restoration. Though it is a great looking decorative piece as it sits. This is the condition it has been in for many years and I did not attempt to polish or take apart to clean. Rare Antique Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. Microscope Piece*
Not exactly sure what this is. It was in a box of many items purchased at an estate sale. I have other fine scientific pieces listed from the same sale. This may just be a piece of a microscope. It has a lens so that is good the lens when you look thru it has a measurement chart that runs from 0 to 6 and has increments of 10 from number to number. This is a fantastic piece found at an estate sale where the resident was a University Professor and Scientist. The microscope has the booklet but was not in a box rather was set up as display in his Study. It was his prize piece. I am not sure of the age but the Use and Care of the Microscope booklet was was copyright 1912. It is very nice. It was well used as seen in the photos and is sold as found. It s accompanied by the Care and Use booklet. A lens container and a box with a slide in it. I believe this to be quite old. It does have a serial number of 25408 is what I make out. All of the mechanics seem to airlock fine and it has the attach oh meet below the slide table. It has wonderful worn patina. All the adjusting tools work and it has a dual head lens keeper on it. Completely relaxed it measures about 13 inches in overall height and ... morethe lens chamber has about 3" of height up and down adjustment. This is a cool high quality piece. A must have for any collector!

I am completely out of my element on this and will describe it as best I can. This is a magnifier made by the Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. It is in as found condition and I have not attempted to clean it. Starting from the base. There is a round, raised but attached mark that shows age wear. Around the outer edge of this reads, BAUSCH& LOMB OPTICAL CO. Rochester NY. There is then a circle with a triagular shaped mark with three lines inside. At the top is B& L, to the left is the letter Z, to the right a letter S which I believe to stand for Carl Zeiss and G N Saegmuller. Above the triangle the numbers 99876. The post holds wheels which raise and lower the magnifier shown at top that swivels at two separate places. The actual magnifier is marked around it with BAUSCH& LOMB OPTICAL CO. 17mm TRIPLE APLANAT. This magnifier raises ... moreand lowers over a piece of glass which then looks down onto a round two sided mirror that tilts, and is on an arm that moves from side to side. The only question I have is that there is a small"post" at the rear of the glass. There is a hole on the opposite side that I have no idea what is may have been used for. Everything works properly and the glass only shows very minor signs of wear. The measurements on this are 4 1/2" to glass. 5 1/2" to magnifier in lowered position, 4" across base and 5 3/4" front to back. The serial number located on the eyepiece is 8174; on the top black plate which is screwed on says: Pat. Jan. 5, 1915. The Microscope has a 6.4 magnification lens or eyepiece, two knobs for raising or lowering the lens, an adjustable iris, and a double-sided reflector mirror. Note that there is a very small chip on the edge of one side of the reflector mirror and two tiny brown stains on the other side. Also, included are 3 Bausch& Lomb objective lenses: Two lenses are marked patented on Oct 13, 1925: 1) 16mm 0.025 10X” and, 2) 4mm 0.65 43X” the third one is marked“4mm 0.65 N.A. Also included are 10 assorted glass slides of which a few are chipped. A fine cedar wood fitted box is also included in the sale. It was manufactured by the Eagle Lock Company. Terryville, Connecticut. The lock is stamped thus, including USA. The lock& its working key are in excellent condition. To open the box. Undo the latches, turn the key, and push the small round button to the side. Two Art Nouveau design latches secure the sides. Inside the box are compartments for 5 objective lenses, plus one for the eyepiece, as well as the footprint for the microscope itself. This microscope is fully functional. But in transit from college it appears the other end of power supply was lost, it has the bulb socket with 2 pinned cord,but it is not a plug,it appears it needs to get plugged into another device,transformer first so if you are a hobbyist and or already may have these parts this microscope is for you, or if you want to purchase this remaining piece on your own. everything else is here, it is well made,clean and works great. very well preserved. The objectives included are: 3.5x 10x 43x and 100xoil. Notice in the first picture the power cord attached to light socket in back, that needs to get plugged into something else.

A beautiful brass microscope made by Bausch& Lomb Optical of Rochester. NY. Patent date is Jan 5, 1915. The three objective lenses are 1.9mm, 4mm, and 16mm. There is also a metal box with a glass pipette and some other items, and slots with black cases that I believe are for holding the lenses. The microscope is made of steel and brass and it has a very unusual design with two cut glass prisms that lead up to a single eye piece at the top. It has a very unusual sleeve that slides over the entire microscope to prevent the delicate optics and the back has a handle. Made by the Bausch& Lomb Optical Company and it’s number 1601. Both microscopes are marked Bausch& Lomb Optical Company and one of them has an additional marking“Chicago Lens and Instrument Company” with a Patent Date of Jan 5. 1915– this one appears complete and working. The second microscope is missing the magnifier lens and scope lens and there is a split in the microscope slide holder. See photos. All of my auctions are sold as is. Up for sale by auction-1897 Bausch and Lomb Microscope with a Spencer Lens(both microscope and the lens have ID# This piece is made of brass and black covered metal(not sure) handle and the horseshoe shaped bottom holder Gorgeous brass plate with beautiful oxidation and antique character-Missing a few items that can be easily replaced. Missing the 2 clips that hold the glass lenses. The number of the box is different than the microscope, just one lens on the microscope but there is room for a second one to be attached, also missing the mirror underneath the brass plate. Our policy is to keep pieces we sell in the same condition in which we found them. The wooden box that houses this microscope is absolutely gorgeous. The color is beautiful. Vintage Circa 1900 Jug Handle Bausch& Lomb Co Microscope. It is an original microscopes and comes with it original wooden case with 2 glass and extra lenses(see picture) Everything are original except the key lock on the wooden case. Bausch& Lomb Immigrating to the United States from Germany in middle of the 19th century. Jacob Bausch and Henry Lomb began their association by manufacturing eyeglasses. Initially manufacturing single lens microscopes. They graduated to producing compound microscopes in 1874. They used different methods for focusing the instrument: a crew thread focus control on the nose end of the barrel. Later discontinued in 1878, a draw tube similar to several other manufacturers and a rack and pinion system. Manufactured in 1876. The first professional model towering 17” tall was the Bausch& Lomb Model 76. Mainly ... moreconstructed of brass. This model had nickel plating and hard rubber mounts for the eyepieces. This is a very cool World War I era antique/vintage Bausch& Lomb microscope acquired from the University of Colorado. Boulder. Ocular, lenses, and body are label'Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester, NY. This unit has a cast iron body and I believe the rest of it brass, though some of it has been enameled black. One of the lenses is labeled 170mm and the other 16mm. Light passes through the optics, but that is the extent of my testing. 93' is etched into the side of the ocular and stenciled onto the base. Table has a small crack on the side. Vintage Bausch& Lomb Antique Brass Microscope Circa 1899 The pictures do not do justice to the way this instrument gleams! All the movements move freely with no binding or sticky spots. The Irises on the condenser move freely as well. The bottom iris looks like it is missing a couple of the leaves, there is what appears to be one of them that was in the drawer of the case. It is shown in one of the pictures. The Case is in good shape. But it is showing it's age, the cabinet does lock and includes a key. I have added a shipping charge to this due to the extra care that is needed to package this securely to ensure it will arrive safely also to cover the extra charges due to it's weight.

This microscope appears to be a bar limb design. I do not see a serial number on the microscope. But do see the number"37" impressed on the bottom of the stand. The objective has Bausch& Lomb impressed on it and"tube length 8.5" I can see Bausch& Lomb on the eye lens, but not a strength The mirror at the bottom of the scope is two sided. Not cracked or blistered, but the mirroed surface does show some wear. The glass for the lens and objective are dusty and may have some minor scratching. I see no blistered cracked or missing glass in the lenses or objectives. The microscope is 11.75" tall. By 4-1/8" across, by 6.5" wide. Objectives and their cases) and a case for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. And remember. There is never any sales tax to our US customers as we live in Delaware, the home of tax free shopping! Recently at a high end auction there were 10 microscopes from someone's collection or a high end store that dealt in them. I acquired 6 of them. Here is the first of them. There is some corrosion to the brass surface in places. There was a tag that came with the microscope that ... morestated it was circa 1893. Has a graduated round stage, 4 eyepieces, with swinging substage and hemisphere diagram. The serial number on the microscope is 12068 which would seem to make it as having been produced sometime before 1893. The microscope has a bone or celluloid handle on it that allows the scope to be angled. One eBayer thinks this is a model CC microscope which stood for Circular, Centerable, referring to the stage. You be the judge as to the model of this microscope before acquiring. There are 4 eyepieces. Then three objectives(lenses) down at the bottom, a 1/12 in it's brass case and then 1/6 and 2/3 on the scope. Antique Vintage Double Pillar Bausch & Lomb Microscope C1880s?
Wonderful antique Bausch& Lomb double pillar microscope- possible circa 1880s. Everything works and the microscope is fully functional. The scope stands ~15.5 inches tall with the tube fully extended. The fine focus is on the bottom of the stage. The mirror has some silvering- see photos and the black lacquer on the base is worn in places. There is one B&L objective marked 1/2. The brass. However shines and looks great. This is probably a student microscope and will make a great addition to any collection. Ask questions. Overseas buys pay additional shipping fees. Thanks for looking.

Antique Vintage Microscope Bausch Lomb Harvard draw tube Brass Carl Zeiss Jena
Here you go. it's old and brass with a chrome draw tube and single objective lens. I can't find a maker's name on the body but the eyepiece has Carl Zeiss Jena on it. The nearest thing I've found is a Bausch and Lomb Harvard model microscope. You however are the expert here. Dates on the body are as follows: Pat. Oct. 3. 1876" and"Pat. Antique Vintage Bausch & Lomb Jug Handle Microscope with some Nickle Plating
Antique Bausch& Lomb jug handle microscope with very nice Spencer mechanical stage. Serial number looks to be 66590. Which makes its age around 1907. This is a unique microscope because the fine and course focus nobs are nickle plated. The rest of the microscope is brass except for the base. The mirror has some minor silvering and the black lacquer shows some wear. The Spencer stage works well, the sub stage condenser is clear, and the sub stage iris works well. The three objectives are B&L and the scope comes with a 10X eye piece. This is a great fully functional jug handle microscope and will make a wonderful addition to any collection.
