Its' construction is of silvered under-metal of copper or brass or the combination of the two. Underneath the feathers's silver surface is brass, but I think there is copper underneath parts of the rest, judging from the bit of blue copper oxide showing on the surface of the back side of the brooch near the pin. Pair WWI Trench Art Silvered Brass Repousse Vases Pair English 75MM Shell Casings Made into Vases. MTC 478 Insignia(Military Transport Co. of a helmet upon a wagon wheel on one of the vases. Floral decoration on both is similar but differs in detail as one would expect on hand crafted items. Trench art items were always considered the work of soldiers in the trenches. Some of them were fabricated by soldiers. Many more were made by local residents to sell as souvenirs to the soldiers. I don't recall another pair of similar vases that were silvered. This appears to be a silver wash as opposed to silver plated. Marked. Well marked as the photos show. There is a tiny stamp of crossed cannon barrels within a circle on each. This may be a makers stamp. See the last photo. CONDITION: All original condition without repairs or alterations. Darkened ... morespots on the finish where a lacquer coating has worn. There is no visible maker's mark, but judging by the Old World craftsmanship and exact sculptural detail, this Lion probably dates from the early 20th century. I/O" mark for normal silver plating thickness. Excellent condition. Beautifully decorated with enameled flowers and vines in greens. Blues and reds overlaying clear stippled glass. Base and top/lid are silvered metal typical of WMF manufacture. Lovely decorative and functional pair of pitchers/ewers. Height 13.75 inches. Base between feet measures 5 inches. Vintage Pepsi Cola Framed Advertisement - Art Nouveau, Silvered Mat w/ Gold- Wow
Offered for a 3-day auction only is this vintage Pepsi-Cola framed advertisement. Very fancy work. Print(with image that has been used on trays and other signs) is framed behind mirrored(silvered) glass that has turquoise borders and floral accents in reverse painting style as well as the words. At Fountain and in Bottles" with the mirror background. That mirrored background has"cutouts" in Art Nouveau style to reveal a textured gold paper behind. In the oval cutout is the print of the Victorian Lady raising a glass of Pepsi. She is wearing a fancy turquoise dress and hat with much embellishment. The oval cutout portion of the picture is about 8 x 10 but the piece in its what appears to be original frame is about 14 x 18. There is a sticker on the back that is very worn but says something about the Pepsi-Cola Company does not ... moreallow copying without their permission or some such. Condition is very good for its obvious age. But it has been in a damp place and shows that stain(back on the bottom as shown in photos) On the front, the mirror surface has some oxidation of the silvering and you can see some rusty looking spots on the gold paper on the bottom half as well as some dust spots on the image, also mainly on the bottom half. All in all, it is still a striking piece and though probably needs some restoration work to save it from further degradation, it displays beautifully now. The photos don't do it justice but please look at them before bidding. There are many reproductions of this image on trays and signage but I think this may be the real deal. Very fine work went into creating it. Not an imported knock off.

A beautiful Art Nouveau silvered uniface French medal in a gilded(gold filled) claw brooch setting. Depicting Saint Christopher with Jesus on his shoulder, signed FP. Around the portrait of the saint are the words"Regarde St Christophe puis va t'en rassure" See St Christopher and go comforted on your way) St Christopher looks up to the child Jesus on his shoulder as he clasps his staff. Which is sprouting leaves at the top. The medal is signed"FP" on the right at the base of the portrait; however. I cannot trace this particular engraver from the Belle Epoque era in France. The medal and brooch frame are in good condition for age. There is an old fashioned c-clasp pin on the pin. Which is slightly bent but still closes. The frame is gilded or gold plate, which has age-related wear on the pin and the tips of the claws(see ... morephotos) The size of the brooch is 2.5 cm(just under 1 inch) across, and it weighs 4.4 gm. A very nice piece for a collection or to take on your travels.

Pair of ART NOUVEAU FIGURAL AMPHORA VASE LAMPS Silvered Spelter By W. HERING
These lamps are converted from a set of amphora type spelter vases by sculptor ELSIE WARD HERING from about 1900-1910. A single matching. Near identical vase- obviously created at the same time as these- sold at auction in October, 2012 for $650.00. The vases feature articulated fairy nymph cherubs playing in a pond with towering cattails, reeds and sculpted blooming irises rising from the surface of the vases. They are made of a heavy patinated spelter metal, silvered over bronze and mounted on large weighted wooden bases which give them good stability so as not to tip over easily. The wiring is good with 3 way switches with long cords that have on and off switches. They measure 32" tall from the bottoms to the tips of the screw-on finials. They are in need of a good cleaning and polishing as there is some corrosion starting with a ... morepowdery white substance that comes off with scrubbing and there are some scratches in the finish of the bases. They likely need a coating of wax or something to protect the surface from further damage. The shade does not come with the lamp- shown for reference only. Siddons Mowbray and Augustus Saint Gaudens. She then became an assistant to Saint Gaudens. Completing some of his commissions following his death in 1907. While working for him she met another of his assistants, Henry Hering. After her marriage to Henry Hering in 1910. She seldom worked independently but assisted her husband on his projects. Description A very fine early 20th Century green glass vase decorated with silver overlay in an Art Nouveau style with excellent vibrant iridescent colour and fine detail. Condition Excellent Original Condition Dimensions Height: 13 Country of origin and date Austrian. Circa 1900 Artist The Loetz glassworks existed in Klostermuhle. Austria, for just over a hundred years, starting from 1840. But its heyday was during the life-time of Max Ritter Von Spaun, grandson of the original Johann Loetz who had founded the company. Von Spaun took over the company in 1879 and ran it until 1908, a year before his death. He was assisted by Eduard Prochaska, his technical specialist, and together ... morethey invented, designed and produced a whole series of wonderful new types of glass, taking out several patents and winning awards at all the major world exhibitions during the 1890's and the first years of the new century. The Loetz company were amongst the leaders in Art Nouveau design and expecially in irridescent art glass. Papillon" glass, which is sometimes known today as"oil spot" glass. Another favourite Loetz colouring was irridized glass with pulled trails called"Phenomenon" glass. There were irridized vases with ribbons of metallic colours winding over the surface, and many spectacular designs with applied trails of beautiful colours, or simply pulled out of the body of the glass to form handles or decoration. About 1900 the company started collaborating with outside designers. And some great artists designed pieces for Loetz, notably Joseph Hofmann, Koloman Moser, Maria Kirchner, and Hofstatter. The very attractive silvered filigree brooch has a domed body. Measuring2.5cm in diameter by 1.5cm high. The dome is created from layers of intricate silvered filigree fretwork. On the top of the dome is a cluster of 8mm long marquise cut and 3mm and diameter round cut clear crystals. With a 5mm diameter round cut clear crystal centre. The base of the dome has four 1cm long by 8mm wide octagon cut clear crystal. All crystals are.
