Giant Vintage Denoyer Geppert USSR Soviet Union Pull Down Map 1965 Physical. Scale 1: 4.000,000 This stunning map measures 95 1/2" wide x 68" tall. The metal bracket increases the width to 102" wide. This map indicates the Soviet Union. Other Communist states and Non-Communist States. It also identifies boundaries. National capitals, mineral resources, and ocean depths. Drawn and printed by Karl Wenschow in West Germany. 1965. The English text edition was prepared by Denoyer Geppert Co. Chicago. Please see photos for condition. I tried to take pictures of different countries so you could see the names. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are on this map. Along with many other Countries, that have been renamed since this map was made. It used to have a black vinyl/leather strip on the bottom for pulling the map down. But it came off. It is on a wood dowel so it can roll up and down. I just acquired this map of the US and its a really good find. Its big about 7' wide and 5 1/2' long. Lots of color detailed showing the Legends for Land sea and population(see Pictures) The map is in good to very good condition and will transform any room you hang it. Please keep in mind its almost a half century old and is not new. One customer asked me if a map had been in a smoke free home! Its a School Map how the heck do I know. All I could say is its been in dry storage for 30 years. Some of the maps have been repaired over the years and may have tape. How to Repair Old School maps The round dowel is cut in half by the manufacturer and the new map is simply glued or stapled to one halve and then screwed to the other. Its basically sandwiched between the two halves. They made them this way so the schools could do there on repairs. ... moreThey printed the maps on canvas with several inches below and above the map.This was done so the school could do the repair work. Most schools could not afford to buy another one or send it to the manufacturer for a tear to be fixed when it would tear they unscrewed it. Cut the section that had the tear and put it back together. Please keep this in mind the older maps that have been rolled up and stored. They need to hang for several days lay flat. Should your map not straighten out simply remove the screws reset the map.Trim it if necessary and screw it back At some point you may tear it and need to repair it. Now you know how.

Old vintage school map of the Eastern Hemisphere made by Interstate School Map Company of Goshen Indiana old pull down school map. approx 44 inches long and 40 inches wide. Came in an old hanging metal container and one of the maps of South Dakota was dated 1929 so believe this to be circa early 1930s. it has been mounted on a simple pine wood frame to hang up and display. This map is old! Back in the day Aj Nystrom signed the maps similar maps I have we're made around 1909. This one may have a date but it would be sandwiched in lower dowel. That's how the University's repaired the torn areas. Pull the dowel apart remove the map trim it and screw the two halves of the dowel back. You are looking at a 1978 map of Kentucky(the back of the map says 1978) It is by the George F. Cram Company. Inc. This is Cram's Superior Map of Kentucky. The map measures about 55 inches wide x 53 inches long. It comes in the metal housing that will allow the map to be pulled down or rolled back up automatically. I don't have to send the metal housing with this, so let me know if you purchase it and just want the map. This shows all counties, regions, roads, and 1970 census information. Smaller maps on the page include historical development, county population, and congressional districts. The map is very clean and in excellent condition.
