The surface can be marked on with felt- tipped pens or water soluble crayons. The backer is canvas. There are two holes in the bottom protective area and two rub marks in the Atlantic Ocean. All defects are pictured. I could not find any writing on this one. Minus the few small defects this map is in nice condition. Vintage 1960's Pull-Down School Map - Asia/Eurasia Political-Physical
This is a large( 55' x 51' vintage classroom map of Asia/Eurasia of unknown origin likely dating to the 1960's. I received this map in a bundle of maps at a surplus auction from Western Kentucky University. This is a really beautiful map; as you can hopefully see in the photos. It is vividly colored and illustrated. The large map shows Asia/Eurasia including both physical features(the coloring indicates elevation) as well as cities and political boundaries. A smaller subset map in the bottom left corner shows national boundaries more distinctly. The map is attached to a spring-loaded roller bar within a mountable metal bracket. Allowing for the map to be attached to a wall and be pulled up and a down. The spring has weakened slightly due to age and only retracts the map approx. 75% of the way, but the remainder can easily be rolled ... moreby hand. It has suffered some wear and tear through the years- there are two thin cracks(pictured) starting along the bottom edge and running approx. 12' up which have been taped. Also. This is a large( 55.5' x 48' vintage classroom map of Asia/Eurasia produced by A. J. Nystrom in the 1970's as part of the American Geographers Series. I received this map in a bundle of maps at a surplus auction from Western Kentucky University. This map is in excellent condition. As the photos show. The colors are still bright and vivid. There are no holes, tears, rips, staining, or fading. This is a vintage wall map of Bacon's Excelsior Map of the World in Hemispheres. Published circa 1960 by Denoyer-Geppert. This beautiful vibrant map shows the western and eastern hemispheres side by side. Also included are three inset globes showing the greatest mass of water, land, and the North Polar Region. Along the bottom are a series of small meteorological maps showing global isobars, isotherms, prevailing winds, and ocean currents. This map is in good condition with some light age toning and foxing. Small repaired tears, tattered edges, and rolled folds. The map measures 62 inches wide x 46.5 inches tall, and with the wooden dowels included it measures 64 inches wide x 48.5 inches tall. This is a large, beautiful wall map full of history and geography!

rare five layer pull down school map of America. first layer shows America in 1270 to 1700. Second layer shows America in 1609, third layer shows America in 1790, fourth layer shows America in 1861 and fifth layer shows America in 1950. i assume it was made around 1950 because that is highest date shown. pretty interesting map of progression of America. made by tryon illustrated maps and i assume from university of chicago. also has weber costello department of cartography. pretty good condition for its age. good colors also. on the fifth layer there is a spot where the map has lifted from the backing about the size of a quarter and could be reglued. it is to the left of the 95 at the bottom of the map just above the wood trim. i imagine this is where a finger pushed when the map was pulled down and up. its not hardly noticeable but worth ... morementioning. first map shows trade routes, second shows English, French and Spanish boundarys. also has indian tribes. third layer shows about the same boundarys with changes. fourth layer shows Canadian and Mexico boundarys along with confederate states and indian territory. fifth layer show about the same with changes that occur through the years. 48" wide and about 45" tall. retracts very well. weighs about 10 lbs. pretty interesting maps. please view pictures and ask any questions

HUGE Vintage Roll Down School Map Oversized Pull Down Map Asia Far East Chart
Denoyer-Geppert Antique School Map 1959 Enormous vintage school roll down map with vibrant colors. This map is nearly 6 feet wide x 7 feet tall! This is a Denoyer-Geppert Geological Map of Asia and the Far East and dates to 1959. It has wooden dowels at the top and the bottom and can be hung as is or can be framed. Backed with linen. Beautiful colors and detail. Some wrinkling which would be expected for an item of its age. We added two sawtooth hangers to the top dowel but it could also be hung by its original string or a replacement string. This piece really makes an impact due to its size and will fill a wall. Measurements are approximately: 71" wide(74" including dowel) nearly 6 feet wide! 82.5" in height- nearly 7 feet tall!

Excellent 1990s pull down school map by Nystrom. This is a markable poster paper glossy map that measures about 62"x 51" WITHOUT the hem. It includes mounting bracket(no screws) and pole and operates without issue. Map has no markings. Creases or water damage. It has a small tear along the bottom, a light scrape along the bottom and 2 tears on the backside hem(the one front tear is from one back tear. The other back tear did not go through both pieces of paper) Colors are very bright and vibrant, map is very crisp, no yellowing, no smells of any kind, just a fantastic map. This map. Along with more than 75 other school maps and charts that I will be listing, belonged to the estate of a longtime teacher who lovingly stored these works of art when they became obsolete or were replaced for more modern versions, and eventually the technology ... morethat we use in schools today. This is a vintage wall map of the Great Depression 1929-1939. Published circa 1960 by Rand McNally. This unique pull down map displays the United States color coded to show the percentage of Labor Force Unemployed. Also included is a chart of the Nation's Economy and a picture of President Roosevelt with information on the"New Deal" This map is in great condition for being made circa 1960. The paper is in good shape with a repaired tear along left hand side. The map measures 50 inches wide x 51 inches tall. And with the wooden dowels included it measures 54 inches wide x 55 inches tall. This is a large, beautiful wall map full of history and geography!

Vintage Cram's Cloth Pull Down School Map Early Railroad Period 1840-1880 + WW1
Absolutely incredible pull down school map from George F. Cram of Chicago. Dating to the 1960s. This is a canvas/cloth map that measures about 51"x 78" WITHOUT the hem. It includes tension rod but NO mounting bracket. Will operate with roller shade hardware available at any home improvement store. There are 2 different maps featured; Transportation~Early Railroad Period 1840-1880 and WW1 1914-1918 European Theater. The 2nd map of WW1 on the bottom sustained some water damage on the lower 8" of the map and the hem resulting in some staining, rippling and flaking, but it is also stable. The rest of the map, including the railroad map is without holes, tears, markings, water damage or creases. If one chose, the two maps could be separated. Map is very crisp, colors are bright and vibrant, there are no smells at all, no yellowing, ... morejust a very very clean map. You will not be disappointed with the condition of this old map. This map. Along with more than 75 other school maps and charts that I will be listing, belonged to the estate of a longtime teacher who lovingly stored these works of art when they became obsolete or were replaced for more modern versions, and eventually the technology that we use in schools today. This is a large original vintage school chart. No date but probably from the 1960's, by Denoyer-Geppert Co. It is a wonderful colorful atlas map of Mexico published by Oregon State University. There is some water spots on the back at the bottom close to the brown header. Some foxing due to age. Fully extended it is 49" long and is 67 inches wide.
