This is a map produced by Cram. The map does not have a copyright date. But I estimate it is probably about 15 to 20 years old(possibly older? This map measures 76 inches high by 68 inches wide. It comes mounted on a spring roller. With a wood dowel at the end. There are three layers to the map. These include a Texas map. A United States map, and a World map. This map shows wear from general classroom use. And it also has some other issues. On the United States map, there is a small rip in the center where the pull string is located. On the Texas map, there is some"wrinkles" but no tears. While these defects are present, they do not affect the use of the map, and the map is priced to match these defects. Featured is a vintage 1963 or 1964 Six Flags Over Texas amusement park map. The park is located in Arlington. Texas, between Dallas and Fort Worth- a vacation destination for so many families that grew up in the South. Looking at this map will bring back so many memories. The difference in the park between now and then is stunning- mainly the lack of roller coasters! I have discovered the only way to truly date these maps is to know the history of the rides. Although the map is undated. It shows LaCucaracha(the first roller coaster at the park) which was only at the park from 1961 until 1964. It also shows the first log ride which did not open until 1963. Therefore, the map could have been used in 1963 or 1964. The map is in fair condition- There is a marker area to the top scroll along with a few crayon marks. There are tack holes throughout ... moreand especially at the corners. There is also a severe blunt tear at the upper right corner and at the top upper edge. There are four(4) small holes noted at folds(may be visible from the back) The folds are delicate. The map shows as far north as Santa Fe and to just below Guadalajara. Also including the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. The southern coast of the United States in included to western Florida, and the river systems are included inland, especially for Texas. There are two references to Texas. Both the region and a settlement of that name on the Red River, near present-day Austin. Other named places include San Paul, San Saba, Nacogdoches, Fort Adayes, San Antonio Bexar and the town of Paso(El Paso) A printed note mentions the explorations of La Salle, and the map locates New Orleans, Mobile, and Pensacola along the Gulf Coast to the east. The lands of the Apache, Comanche, Caddos, Yumas and other tribes are also noted. Rigobert Bonne was the Royal Hydrographer of France. Whose primary interest was in marine charts.
