Vintage 1968 Reprint San Francisco Panama-Pacific Exposition 1915 Exposition Map
Here is a beautiful aerial perspective illustration map- sometimes called a" Bird's Eye View" of the city of San Francisco as it appeared circa 1912. This print is actually a 1968 reprint of an original drawing of San Francisco made about 1912 to commemorate the Panama Pacific Exposition held in San Francisco. There was also a Panama Pacific Exposition held in SF. CA in 1915, but dating on the print indicates that this view commemorates the 1912 Exposition. The print was produced and distributed by First Savings and Loan Association to commemorate the opening of the First Savings Building in Sansome(I believe a section of)San Francisco. Perhaps a native of the Bay City can add more to this history) The original drawing, according to the narrative at the bottom center outside the print. Is from the collection of the Society of ... moreCalifornia Pioneers. The geography of this perspective is the city of SF proper. San Francisco Bay. And the Golden Gate looking east to west as if you are flying over downtown San Francisco from Harward toward the Pacific. The map is very attractive. Unfortunately, it has problems at the corners where it was at one time taped and/or placed in a frame and/or hung on a wall(please read the Description Section where I go into some detail on the condition) All of the corner issues are outside the framing line within the white space. There is also a small about 1/8" rip at the bottom center into some of the narrative. And a larger about 1 1/2" rip on the bottom right that does go into the drawing(see Photo 9) There is also a 1/2" rip at center on the left edge. But completely off the illustration. The print is a litte dusty, but this can be handled with a soft cloth. Still with these blemishes this is a beautiful print and I believe quite scarce even though it was reprinted in 1968, especially east of the Mississippi. If re-framed, this would look fine and give the look of an antique bird's eye view. I will ship it free and rolled in a tube. No international bidde

For bid is an original circa 1930’s San Francisco. California LAND USE map indicating a lot in the Marina District of San Francisco near the Presidio. This terrific map is printed on thick paper and indicates a lot that was being considered for commercial use. The map shows the real estate lots around the intersections of Chestnut, Lombard, Divisadero, and Scott Streets in the Marina District. The lots in the area were indicated as either residential or commercial use. The shaded lot with diagonal lines was being considered for a change from residential use to commercial use. The lower right corner of the map has a perspective of the area shown in detail. This was some kind of San Francisco land use commission map. Street Map of City of San Francisco - 117 Yr. Old 1896 map People's Cyclopedia
This is a great vintage Street Map of San Francisco taken out of an old 1896 People's Cyclopedia of Universal Knowledge. It was created by Hunt& Eaton. New York and engraved by E. F. Fisk& Co. New York. We have shown it in two scans as my scanner will Not take a scan of the full whole map. The first scan shows the top half of the city with the second scan showing its bottom half respectively with their margins. The map has a single fold and has an overall length of about 13.75 inches with margins included, while its width is about 11.1 inches with its margins included. This blank to verso map will divide in half when folded as presented in its tipped-in form in the People's Cyclopedia of Universal Knowledge. When framed this map should make an excellent gift for the collector, or possibly an outstanding office map. This large detailed map of San Francisco is dated 1912. It is from the 1913 Rand McNally Commercial Atlas. It measures 28 X 20 inches. Would look fantastic framed under glass. Shadows seen are my scanner. Not the map. According to worldcat.org. The only known copy of the 1913 Rand McNally Commercial Atlas is in the Smithsonian's collection. Printed on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. In near VG or better condition. Minor light surface age wear and faint toning, which is mostly confined to the blank margin, but the map remains clean and attractive[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting vintage map. Different map is on the back, removed from a rarely found old atlas printed in Germany between the two World Wars.
