1896 Advertising pocket map given as promotional by the Rochester Stamping Works. The Largest Copper-Ware Factory in the World" so the caption says. Unfolded, the map measures 11" by 14" and the cover measures 3 1/2" by 5 1/2" Both cover and map are fairly crisp and clean. There are detail photos showing small fold tears. The inside cover has a calendar and identification card. The back cover has a space where the presenter may stamp their name. All these areas are unblemished. I will be happy to take more photos on request. It will be shipped slipped in a plastic sleeve and secured front and back with stiff card or foam board.

I picked up this map during a trip to London in the mid-2000's. It's survived the 10 years since in a scrapbook away from sunlight. 1920 Pocket Map of Pittsburgh, PA
Pocket map of Pittsburgh. PA, printed by Lippincott& McNeil in 1920. The map shows the greater Pittburgh area and lists street names. The cover measures 3 3/4 x 6 1/2 inches. The map fits inside and when fully opened measures 33 x 50 inches. Some of the fold lines on the map have separated at the edges. Also, the map was originally glued to the back cover, but has separated from it. Both front and back covers show wear, but are still attached to each other.

GZ896 C53(1875) A834. Description: An extremely rare 1876 pocket map of Chicago. Illinois by the Anders M. Askevold. This Chicago published map covers from Central Park in the west to Lack Michigan in the east, and from Lincoln Park in the north to Union Stock Yards in the south. City wards are numerically identified and coded by color. All streets, rail lines, parks, important municipal buildings, piers, canals, and rivers are noted. With the completion of the Pacific Railroad in 1869, the 1870s were a period of astounding development, optimism, and expansion throughout Chicago. Despite the seemingly enormous setback of the 1871 Great Chicago Fire, the city's ... moregrowth barely slowed. This decade witnessed the implementation of the city's'boulevard' system and the inauguration of parks along the lakefront, Lincoln Park, shown here, being the best known example. The 1870s and 1880s also fostered the rise of the Chicago as a center of map publication. In this Aksevold was a pioneer and his work is among the earliest and scarcest Chicago based cartographic work- especially compared with the mind-boggling volume of later Chicago publishers like Rand McNally and George Cram. The OCLC identifies only two known examples, one at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library, and a second in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library. In 1607 Jodocus Hondius published a reduced size version of Mercator's"Atlas" Itself suitably titled"Atlas Minor" The maps were copied from those of the great cartographer Mercator of around 1580-90 or were reductions of Hondius' own maps of 1606. Almost 20 years later Joannes Janssonius commissioned a new set of copperplates to be engraved by Pieter Van Den Keere(Kaerius) and Abraham Goos.
