Really cool. Here is a road map for New York City and surrounding suburbs, Bicentennial edition by Amoco, in 1976. Really decent shape, only a couple of worn through spots on the folds and a tiny bit of discoloration. It’s full size, and printed on both sides. A few ads are included and quite a few points of interest are noted. As well as an explanation of the different areas of Manhattan(lower east side. It is a wonderful way to see the growth and changes that have occurred over the last 60+ years in the region. Please be aware that these Road Maps are anywhere from 10 to 90 years old. They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So some of the maps you are buying may be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders and fold lines of the maps may also have tears. Nice colored map on flip side, size: 14 inches by 21.5 inches. Curiously they only list the subways on the map and no elevateds. They also show the principal railroad lines in the city. Much detail at the bottom of the map with all of the named steamship lines and which dock the are at. The map is dated 1912 but I feel the brochure is a few years newer. good condition. Some fold wear on corners. Nice period piece on New York City and the great station that should have never been torn down. Unfolded the very colourful map is 18 by 12 inches in size. You get directions and suggestions about New York places to visit and ads from Union Dime Savings. The map is clean with two very tiny holes along the folds. The front of the pamphlet is a little dity with slightly worn corners. Buyer will pay $2.85US for postage to anywhere in the United States. Vintage 1988 RARE Special New York City Subway Map w/ Museums of MTA NYC
This is a RARE special edition subway map put out by the New York City MTA in 1988. It is titled"Museums of New York City. A subway and bus guide to the museums of New York City" It has all of the New York City Museums. With their addresses, hours, admission price, and the short description of each. It also advises how to get to each one by subway and or bus. There are also photos of most of the museums. The map itself includes numbered squares that represent each museum so that you can lay out your trip along with transportation. The map is in very good condition. The only issues are a slight tear on the upper left hand corner on the cover as well as a small tear on the cover on the mid left hand side. There is also a little doodling on the cover and some crossed out notes. But of course these become the back side of the map when ... moreit is open, so they cannot be seen. The back cover is a tapestry from the American craft Museum. The map. When folded, is 3.75" wide and 6.5" tall. This is the perfect pocket or handbag size and is smaller than the general maps that the MTA puts out. When open however, the map is huge! It is 32" wide and 26" tall. If you fold back the Museum section, the subway map part itself is 21.5" wide by 26" tall. The map section portion is bordered in black with letter and number representation. This hardcover book contains maps and numerous illustrations(pictures show examples) In the front and back of the book are several old advertisement. For examples: Steinway& Sons'pianos) Phenix Insurance Company; United States Life Insurance Co; Tiffany&Co. to name a few. Contains two maps: ... more1. map of the Hudson River(this map is attached) 2. New York City map with Brooklyn street and avenue quide(this map has become detached from the book and has some tears in the folds. Is complete except for the top left corner that remains attached to the book) Cover has slight wear at corners. Back cover has some wrinkles in the cloth where it appears it has come ungluded from the hard cover material; could have got some water on the back cover as is small stain at top of the inside of back cover(Carter, Kirtland& Co. and a few pages prior. Shortly into the white page advertisements it is not longer noticeable. The first page of yellow advertisement(a new piano) has a tear in it. I examined(very carefully) all the white pages from the contents page to the end of the book. Including the illustrations. I find all the pages and illustration to be in very good condition(other than the few mentioned avove) none are missing, all are bound very good. Book measures: 6" x 4" 3/4" thick. Not a modern reproduction. It is a beautiful large format and very rare 1857 printing of Valentine's map. State of New York and the Territories Depending Thereon" To His Excellency George Clinton Esq) The map shows lower Manhattan. Which was primarily agrarian at the time, with American and British fortifications. The"Reference" section at the lower right lists important landmarks, including Fort George, important churches, the Jewish Synagogue, the Theatre, and the House of Correction. This gorgeous and extraordinary map was printed 72 years after John Hills' hand-drawn map of 1785. Shortly after the American Revolution, ... moreand was presented by John Lozier Esq. to the Corporation of the City of New York. Magnificently hand-colored. Originally issued folding. Fold separations have been fully and expertly repaired with archival tape. Non-archival tape residue remains along left and right margins as shown. Entering image by 1/2” on left, and 1/4 th inch on right. And along bottom margin at left-most corner entering 1/4 th inch into image. And lower rightmost corner not entering image. Small chip missing from upper right corner approaching but not encroaching image. Overall moderately toned, giving the map a pleasantly aged appearance. This is an authentic 1963 Hermann Bollmann New York City map created for the start of the New York World's Fair in 1964. In excellent condition with original pouch and index. Has one small tear on edge that is pictured. Also has an X in ink on one of the buildings. Otherwise. No markings and all folds intact without any separations. Map was kept in a desk drawer and never used again. One side is all Manhattan with the 3D renderings of the buildings. On the reverse side is a traditional map of the other four boroughs of New York: Queens. The Bronx, Staten Island, and Brooklyn. Shows all buildings as they existed during the time of the 1964 World's Fair. This is a wonderful full color pictorial bird's eye view of Manhattan. Hermann Bollmann of Braunschweig, Germany, was a woodcarver and engraver, who, starting in 1948, drew 39 similar maps of European cities. To prepare this map. To solve the problem of the height of the skyscrapers and the density of so many buildings. Bollmann used several unique devices which remain his secret. Based in Maspeth, Queens, was the best-selling brand of road maps in the New York City metropolitan area in the 20th and early 21st century. The New York Times in 2002 described Hagstrom's Five Borough Atlas as New York City's"map of record" for the previous 60 years.1]2] With the rise of GPS navigation and other electronic maps in the early 21st century. This map has been professionally matted and framed and covered with glass, ready to accent any office or den. The frame has some scratches but nothing too serious. Inside of the matte measures 11 3/8" W x 13 1/2" H and the overall size of the frame is 20 1/2" W x 22 1/2" H. Large Old Antique 1903 Map Flooded Area of Buffalo New York City Streets
Up for your consideration is a large(4.5' by 3' folded map titled"Flooded Area of the City of Buffalo. New York" prepared by The Bureau of Engineering- C. M Morse 1902 and furnished to the NY State Water Storage Commission. It has a key showing the flooded districts in 1894& 1902. This map is one of about 20 large maps found in the book"Documents of the Senate of the State of New York, 1926th Session- 1903- Volume X No. 37- MAPS" The map has about 15 small(about 1/2" tears where some of the creases cross. There are a few areas of browning/foxing along the backside of some of these creases. Overall, though a nice large partial city map of turn of the century City of Buffalo, NY.

This map opens to 22" x 14-1/2" and has great detail on old highway alignments. With cartography by H.M. Gousha. The New York City map is on one side, with an index to golf and country clubs, yacht clubs, and airports, including Floyd Bennett Field and the Glenn H. Curtiss Airport. There was no La Guardia when this map was printed, and no JFK, not even an Idlewild. Travel to Rockaway Beach from Flatbush Avenue was via ferry. The road map of Long Island is on the reverse side. With an inset of the eastern end, from Riverhead to Montauk. Many of the roads were still unpaved, and the map labels the Sunrise Highway, Southern State Parkway, ... moreand Northern State Parkway as"proposed.
