It was printed by Chromolithography utilizing zinc plates eteched in relief. The labeling language is in German. In general, the Andrees maps are exceptional for their detail and vibrant color, which are among the best of the late 19th century maps. The map is being sold unmatted or framed as seen in the first pic, printed on a large heavy sheet, blank on the reverse with a centerfold as issued. Overall a beautiful map in great condition. There is a nice inset of the environ around Vienna. Size: The map image area from neat line to neat line measures approximately 14 1/2 by 17 1/2 inches(37x44cm) on a 17 1/2 by 22" 44x56cm) page with a margin all around for framing. Condition: The map is in Very Good condition for its age with vibrant color on a bright sheet. There are a couple of small dampstains on the edge and some light browning in the margins. Otherwise it is very clean with a strong impression and rich color that would frame up well. It is much better than shown in the pic. The pics are of the actual map. Near the forefront of the atlas publication industry for a quarter century was mapmaker and aggressive marketer Alvin Jewitt Johnson. Around 1860. Brief History of Emanual Bowen: Emanuel Bowen(1694?1767) was an English map engraver. Who worked for and as a geographer. An 18th century map and print seller. Who worked in London from about 1714, producing some of the best and attractive maps of the century. A recurring feature of Bowen's work, evident even on the early road maps, was his habit of filling every corner and space of the map with jottings and footnotes, both historical and topographical. Brightly-colored. Linen backed folded pictorial map of Ireland drawn by Leslie Bullock. It was published in booklet form in 1962 by John Bartholomew& Sons Ltd. Edinburgh. The map illustrates places and characters in history and is decorated with the coats of arms of the main cities and towns. It also shows the areas and names of the clans. Measurements: Top to bottom 39 inches/ 99.1 cm. Side to side 26 inches/ 66 cm. On the top edge of the map there is a1.5 inch/ 3.8 cm. closed tear between the first and second panels otherwise it is in very good condition. This vintage British Admiralty nautical chart is titled"Dublin Bay. Publication information: London. Published at the Admiralty, 1875. Small corrections to 1956. Chart# 1415 Dimensions: 28" X 41" 71cm X 103cm) Chart shows Dublin Bay from Dalkey Island to Ireland's Eye and Moyne Bridge in the North. There are two extremely beautiful landfall diagrams at lower left. Detailed engravings that show the views from near the Kish Lightship and and the approach to Shelmartin. Dublin city is depicted in very close detail, with buildings and docks named. Also Stephen's Green, Merrion Square, O"Connell Street, River Liffey to the sea. Also the entire coast to Dalkey and to Baldoyle, with hills and streets depicted. This is a fantastic impression of Dublin Bay. The chart has been used but is in good condition. There are small, ... morelight smudges and stains throughout, but they do not interfere with the integrity of the striking image of land mass. There are a couple of small navigational notations written on it in pencil. The could be erased if desired. Chart has been folded in the middle. There are quite a few smudges on the reverse side of the chart, but they do not affect the front. Please look at all 12 photos carefully, as most details, information, and flaws are visible in them.
