Imperial Hotel Cork. Ireland Brochure Booklet Pictures Map History Advertising This is a nice booklet that consists of 32 pages. It includes a color picture of the hotel’s main entrance. A few pages about the hotel, a few pages about Cork City, a map and ideas for day trips from the hotel, and several pages of advertising. The booklet is 6¼” x 4¾” The cover has some imperfections/stain/dirt(see pictures) but the pages inside seem to still look nice. I am not sure of the booklet’s age, but found postcards from the trip dated 1961. I would consider it to be in fairly good shape. My idea of“in good shape” may differ from yours, so please look at the pictures. The booklet has a slightly“old” smell to it. As this map was being printed, the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland had already amalgamated into a single political entity. Most of the maps included in the first edition of this atlas were drawn between 1827 and 1828 and are most likely steel plate engravings, making it among the first cartographic work to employ this technique. Each of the maps in this large and impressive atlas feature elegant engraving and an elaborate keyboard style border. Though this is hardly the first map to employ this type of border, it is possibly the earliest to use it on such a large scale. There are a few light smudges on it in several places. A few navigational courses that were charted on it in pencil were at some point erased. They are faintly visible. There are some mathematical notations in the left margin in pencil. And there is one small half inch tear at the extreme edge of the paper in right margin. Also some wear to the center fold.
