Mid-Century Retro Atomic Space Age Light Fixture Yellow Metal Glass Saucer Globe
This Classic Yellow Mid-Century Atomic Space Age Light Fixture was purchased at a local estate. The house was being sold and this was taken down. It is bright yellow painted metal with the inside white. It has a modern space age shape of a dome or bell and a scalloped edge with open areas around. The saucer shaped globe is white although is shows up blue in some of my pictures. It has a gold colored metal bottom finial with a key turn look. This is not a switch. I guess it works with a wall switch. The top finial is also gold metal as is the chain hanger. The top ceiling plate is yellow painted metal also. This measures about 15" across the bottom and the chain length is about 10" which can be adjusted. The wiring looks very good and the original UL stickers are in place with made in USA. This is a 1950's fixture and a very ... morenice one. What a great look for a fifties kitchen.

Vintage lamp glass white frosted globe. Written on both sides are LEST WE FORGET filled in with blue coloring. And LIPTON'S TEAS that shows a bit of what looks like a thick red or brown color. This light fixture came out of my mother's house(was ceiling mounted in her enclosed side porch) And this was an original fixture when the house was purchased by my parents in the late 1950's. House is much older than that) Includes the original metal(brass? base that is 6.25" in diameter on the side that mounts to the ceiling. Note it is missing 1 of the 3 tightening bolts that keeps the globe in place. The glass globe has no chips or cracks. This fixture hangs down approx. 7.5" from the ceiling. I'm an electrician and took this light out of an apartment building during renovation and updating. It is beautiful and functioning. Wires are not brittle. I hung one in my house by the back door without rewiring it because I felt from my examaniation the wires were safe. I would say the same about this one except for the liability that goes with that statement. Would I hang it in my house?Without a doubt. There is paint on the metal base the globe fits into. Sounds like paint remover time huh? The screws that tighten to hold the globe are rusty but functional. Wire brush should clean them up with ease. Ask questions now cause its too late after you buy. I think you will be hard pressed to find another in as fine shape as this one.

I picked up this big(26" tall. 13" wide Gaslight new in the box a few years ago from an old lady that used to sell and install gas lights. She had a storefront in Kansas from the forties through the sixties. The glass globe is wrapped in a Kansas City newspaper from 1973. WOW! I believe that it potentially could be 60 years old. A comparable model these days would probably run you at least 6-7 hundred. This lamp is got brass parts all over it. The majority of the metal is aluminum so it really will not corrode.You can tell each individual part was painted separately. They simply just do not make anything like this these days. This lamp fixture will fit on any outdoor lamp post and can easily be converted to electricity. This lamp is complete there are no parts missing. I'm certain of this. Antique ceiling light with opaque white glass sconce or globe
Antique ceiling light fixture with opaque white glass sconce or globe. The base is brass colored and has wear and scratches from age that give it character. The sconce or shade has that pale color and nice shape. the glass does not have any chips or cracks that I could see. But there are some imperfections from manufacturing. Some thin black lines that resemble cracks but do not go through the glass, interesting I would say. The base is 6" across and 3 3/4" tall it does not have the fixture or socket inside, I have been told that it will fit over an existing fixture. The glass is 6" tall, the open end is 8 1/2" across and it has a 2" fitter. I have described the items condition to the best of my knowledge. Vintage Made of glass- Light" REPLOGLE 10 INCH LIBRARY GLOBE. Gustav Brueckmann Cartographer. From research I believe the lite globe dates from mid 1940's to 1950's. The stand has slight tarnishing.
