Working condition with some flaws, of course. It is 24” by 17” by 7-1/2” thick, not including the handle. It has the name of the navy man that carried it; R. C. ANDRUS. And his serial number which is how you know he was in the navy. There is a hand painted map of Japan and Korea which probably means he was in the Korean conflict. As can be seen in the pictures. The Sea of Japan and Pacific ocean is clearly marked too. The inside of the cup shows and artillery cannon, army star, mountains and pine trees. ORIGINAL WW2 ERA U.S. NAVY ISSUE JAPAN & KOREA MAP PRE KOREAN WAR VINTAGE RARE
Original navy issued 1945-1953 map of Korea and Japan(USA) This map of Korea and Japan. Which was published by military sea transportation service, department of navy, USA. Was made by Geographia Map Co. Inc in New York. There is no date on the map but it most likely was published after the WWII(1945) and before 1953 when the military demarcation line was drawn. The map shows Ulleungdo(as Ullung do) but not the Liancourt rocks. The flip side of it is a map of Japan made by the same mapmaker. There are islands in the sea of japan- Matsu Shima. Liancourt rocks and Oki Shima. They mistakenly depicted Ulleungdo(Matsushima, Dagelet) as a Japan's island while they drew Ullun do(Uilleungdo) as a Korean island in the map on the other side. It is in very good vintage condition. Nothing missing, no stains and only few small fold tears.

Vintage Souvenir Lacquer Scrapbook Cover features a map of Japan and Korea against a mountain landscape backdrop. There is also a colorful bird in one corner. And some gold accent painting on the edges. Book is bound with orange and white cording. There are 21 heavy card stock black pages. The first of which has been used and has some'corner' picture holders glued on the page. The others have not been used, and there are wax paper sheets between each page. The pages' usable surface measure approximately 9" x 7 1/4" and the book's outside measurements are 11" x 8" x 1 3/4" at the tallest part of the binding edge. Book is in good condition- there is a raised crack on the front near the binding with a very small piece of missing lacquer on the very edge. Some wear marks on the cover and binding, and the ... moreback has some gold paint speckles possibly from the manufacturing process. This scrapbook is a nice vintage piece for a collection. This rare and very unsusual chart is titled. Asia, KOREA- JAPAN, PUSAN HANG TO SHIMONOSEKI KAIKYO. Dimensions: 36" X 30" 91cm X 76cm) This chart is in superb condition. It does not appear to have been ever used. It is clean and smooth. There is a tiny nick in the left center edge of paper and a little bit of light smudging in margins beyond the black border of the image. The chart is printed on very unusual thick paper that has an almost glossy shine. I believe this was a Japanese chart that at some point was dressed with labels at top and bottom margins by the Chinese government authorities. In the lower right corner the chart number is listed in Chinese as American chart number 6140. The dates on this chart are many. In English it is indicated as"1st edition 1951. With small corrections to 1959. But the Chinese characters ... moreindicate earlier dates. At bottom center a piece of paper was overlaid at some point. It reads in part. It is from a rare edition of Charles Desilver's New Universal Atlas. Published by Desliver in Philadelphia in 1857. The map has a copyright date by Desliver of 1856 in small print in the bottom margin. Desilver's name and address 251 Market St. Philladelphia appears under the title area. The American Cartographer, Charles Desilver, bought the copyrights and plates of Mitchell's atlas of the same name and updated the maps and made some minor changes particularly ... morein the title block, added his own border style, choices of color and published the atlas from 1856 to 1859. The run of the Desilver atlas was more limited in number than the previous Cowperthwait publishing, thus the Desilver maps are the rarest of all the Mitchell maps published and difficult to find. A copy of the title page is included. Size: The map image measures approximately 12 by 15 inches on a 13 3/4 by 17" page. Condition: The map is in Good condition for its age with overall tonal aging and original handcoloring as issued. Blank on the reverse, printed on a strong flexible page, not brittle, basically as seen in the pics. There are a few minor spots in the margin and some darkening around the edges, otherwise it is very clean with a nice anttique quality that would frame up nicely. This is a WWII 1944 US Army Silk map of Nagasaki Japan on one side and Kagoshima Japan on the other side. There are some holes in the map from use. Vintage 1970 souvenir scarf depicts Expo'70 Osaka Japan. Beautifully colored map of exposition. Suitable for framing. Lovely details of pavilions, pagodas and various exhibitions. Looks like tags are still intact. The more colorful photos are the most accurate depictions of this delicately shaded cloth. Scarf is 27.5" by 28.5" No flaws and seems like it was brought home and put away. Feels like it is made of nylon. I do not read Japanese so am not sure if contents are labeled. Fold lines are not very deep. Would recommend taking it to a cleaners to press them out to be safe. From a local estate. No stains. Odors or problems. Questions welcome before auction ends. This map of Japan is copyrighted 1906. It is from a 1907 Rand McNally Enlarged Business Atlas. It measures close to 28 X 20 inches. Would look fantastic framed under glass. Shadows seen are my scanner. Not the map. According to worldcat.org. There are only two editions of this atlas in the major reference collections, making the maps from this atlas quite dear, fantastic to behold, and a great investment opportunity especially when buying at our low prices, usually less than wholesale. We will ship this map carefully rolled in kraft paper inside a cut pvc tube to prevent any damage. It is also insured by us at no additional cost to you.
