Old 1872 Pike County, Illinois IL Atlas, Worn, Complete w/All Pages, Genealogy
This item is an old 1872. Andreas Lyter(Davenport, IA) Pike County, Illinois county atlas, with the atlas having all it's content pages(blank pages in front of book are gone) but with the atlas in worn condition, as pictured and described herein. Atlas is worn, but all pages are here and all family and early information is intact. The state of IL double page map is in 2 pieces and separated from the binding, the covers are worn and partially attached to the binding, page 13(New Canton town storefronts pictographs) is torn horizontally across page, and most pages have some yellowing and handling smudges, as one might expect of a paper document of this 142 year age. Atlas measures 15x18 inches, it has 138 numbered pages, and as best we can determine from the page numbers and index, all those pages are here. The book contains lots of information ... moreon early settlers of the county, and could be very helpful to those doing genealogy research on families from the area. All the maps are also here, and all of the early pictographs of houses, farms, and storefronts(see examples pictured) Maps are nearly all mounted on tabs, so where there are double page maps, there are not maps mounted back to back, making all the maps useful for framing, is that is desired. Neat old early history details of Pike County, and related details on early settlers. HO Atlas GP38 Illinois Terminal Weathered
I have this older-style yellow box Atlas GP38(dash 2? painted in the beautiful green and yellow of the Illinois Terminal Railroad. And then fairly heavily yet tastefully weathered(I bought the unit like this at a show several years ago) The unit is powered and ran just fine when I had a layout years ago, but I haven't run it in years and have no way of testing it to make sure it runs. The unit has painted, sturdy metal handrails and is equipped with Kadee couplers. I unfortunately do not have the box for it but it will be shipped in an Athearn Blue Box. Please. There may be a blank front page missing. There are some water marks and stains and other minor damage and some torn and ripped edges. There is damage to the binding, but is intact. The atlas is 14 1/4 inches by 18 inches by 5/8 inches thick. The atlas appears to be complete, it has a list of townships, landowners, and subscribers.
