This Detroit map is copyrighted 1893. It is from a 1895 Rand McNally Enlarged Business Atlas. McNally did not update their city maps each year as they did the state railroad maps. It measures close to 28 X 20 inches. Would look fantastic framed under glass. Shadows seen are my scanner. Not the map. According to worldcat.org. There are only a few maps from this atlas in the major reference collections. No other 1895 McNally Business Atlas is known to exist, so the maps are a treasure to behold, and a very smart investment. We will ship this map carefully rolled in kraft paper inside a pvc tube to prevent any damage in transit. It is also insured by us at no additional cost to you. The hotel was named after a vicious animal yet boasted a courteous staff and was regarded as the friendly home of both a tropical paradise and Tigers alike. Jerome S. and Marcus L. Freud were running the Hotel Addison at Charlotte and Woodward. One of the largest apartment hotels in the city when it was built in 1905. Detroit was on its way to becoming an industrial powerhouse, but there would soon be a major shortage of hotel rooms. That’s because it was announced that the city’s most ... morecelebrated hotel, the. Would be closed on Jan. 31, 1920, and razed. Its closure meant a loss of 400 rooms in the city. The Freuds stepped in to fill the void. When the Wolverine was announced in December 1919. It was front-page news in the Detroit Free Press. The George A. Fuller Co. began excavation and foundation work that month. The Sterling Construction Co. began erecting the structural steelwork- fabricated by the Russel Wheel& Foundry Co. on Feb. 2, 1920. Because of the Pontchartrain’s closure. There was a rush to get the Wolverine’s doors open. The same month the Pontch closed, the Freuds announced that builders would start working their forces around the clock, 24 hours a day, to get the Wolverine ready by July 1. That didn’t happen. When it was announced. The hotel was to cost $2 million(about $26 million today, when adjusted for inflation) and have its formal opening in August 1920. But delays and cost overruns pushed back the opening by nearly a year and pushed the price tag up to $2.75 million($35.75 million today) then again to $3 million($37.8 million today) The Wolverine finally opened March 19, 1921. On a few fold lines pin head size hole to several lines, info not damaged, a little tearing to front on fold line. This auction is for a soil map of: city sheet for Owosso. Michigan Each map is roughly 3’ x 4’ or more depending on the size of the county represented. The maps are dated between the years 1904- 1905. Each map was designed to be folded to about 5” x 9” and stored in a box of other maps. This comes from a lot of soil maps retired by the University of Minnesota. Each map is in decent shape and any defects are attempted to be noted by the photo. If you have any questions. Please ask. Some maps do have small tears resulting in a“star shape” between the creases of the folding. But this does not mean any paper or information is lost. Some maps have a small mold stain present in the some of the creases of the folding. Upon review this map does NOT include one of these small tears. Up for sale is a nice colored map of Detroit& vicinity mapped. Edited, and published by the Geological Survey. A colored map, this is a very large two page map measuring approximately 72 by 90 inches when both pages are combined. The map shows road classifications in Detroit& vicinity, Michigan and Ontario. Published circa 1952. These maps are very scarce and show the area in fantastic detail. A rare piece that will look great when framed. Overall map is in good condition. It has been stored rolled and will ship that way. There is some light browning around the edges. There are a few small stains here and there. There is a light tear in the top left edge. Up for sale is a nice antique colored map of Detroit. Michigan. Published in 1906 by The Americana Company. It measures approximately 11 x 14(including the border areas) On the other side it is blank. Will look very nice framed. Map is in generally good condition with most issues at the border areas where there are some chips and a couple of small rips that reach from the edge into the border area. Some other smaller discolorations/ expected light browning. But it does not affect the map. There are some larger tears on the top and right borders and some darker staining.
