Antique Men's Shirt Button Hook Says on the hook: A. SHUMAN& CO. BOSTON" c. 1880's- Early 1900's Abraham Shuman was a Jewish clothier. Merchant and philanthropist- a sculpture of him was located in Boston City Hospital. This listing is for an antique shirt button hook. It is an old advertising piece from Abraham Shuman' clothing store which was once located at the corner of Washington and Summer Streets in Boston. Mass. According to my online research he opened his store at this location around 1871. Abraham was born in 1839 and died in 1918. In 1918 a bronze sculpture was made of him and place in the Administration Building at Boston City Hospital. More information about Abraham is below. It looks to me as though it has never been used at all. It comes with the box- the top of the box has come off(in tghe photo I have it resting on top) And the box is very worn and has storage dust on it. It also comes with a small envelope that I assume contains screws(I did not want to break the seal to open it) The actual sharpener itself is like brand new. It is embossed with"Weimer Meats 1857-1957" on one side. It is very shiny and sharp looking and the blue-ish metal is a beautiful color. Feel free to ask questions. Remaining quite clean with only the most minor light small spotting in places[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably been handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object. Most of the time any edge splits are short. Minor, insignificant and have been closed- either long ago or more recently with small pieces of archival tape. Most often these splits are trivial and easy to overlook visually. Basically, they would not significantly affect the piece adversely. The item is offered as seen.
