antique rare 1800s cast iron claw feet Victorian ornate pivoting world globe map
This is a very rare antique 19th century cast iron Victorian claw footed world globe map. the pivoting base is tri-footed and has stunning claw feet which their talons wrapping around globes. the base also is very ornate with wonderful detailing and has another claw foot at the top which picots in 360 degrees. the base has a wonderful patina from age and holds a dimensional globe. the globe is also embossed at the places with high elevation. it is a 12 inch globe and has an original cast iron finial which has axis numbers right underneath on an iron disc. the piece measures 21 1/2 inches tall by 12 inches wide. it is in good condition but the globe is not original to the piece. the stand is 19th century and the globe is a newer piece. Scale: 1 = 71.700,000. One Inch = 1132 Statute Miles. Produced by The George F. Cram Company of Indianapolis in 1938 or 1939. Manufacturer Model No. 73 This is a 7-inch diameter Cram's Terrestrial Globe measuring approximately 9 inches tall. This globe shows Europe on the eve of World War II. The borders of Finland are those prior to the Russo-Finish war of 1940(the"Winter War" Austria and the Western Czechoslovakia have been absorbed into Nazi Germany. Italian East Africa and ... morethe rump fascist state of Slovakia are shown. The globe was fabricated with coated paper gores over plastic. There is a metal time dial at North Pole. It sits on an unusual rounded metal base and is supported by a brass colored triangular metal stem. Condition. This nice old globe is in very good condition for its age. There is slight color fading due to the passage of time. The accompanying images show some minimal damage: 1) a small scuff(white underneath) in the area of the south Pacific just to the lower left of the analemma. 2) a thin vertical cut. Approx. 3/4 long, located between Iceland and the northern Norway. There are a few other minor scuffs where the blue of the ocean is wearing thin and the white underneath is staring to show through, but these do not detract from the appearance of the globe and are on visible on very close examination. The globe spins smoothly and easily. Finally. Please note that I did not polish the globe's metal base prior to taking the photographs for this listing, but this could easily be accomplish if the owner wanted to make it look clean and shiny. Serial No. 4088A, Olney Illinois and on the arm it has a compass. It has a working chain and gear operating system. and it is nicely fitted inside a wooden box handled case, the front panel removes and it is signed by G.Williams and it is locked with a latch. It is a one of a kind globe custom made by Paul Rath for the North German Lloyd steamship company in Bremen. Germany. It has the company name and logos on the side along with the company slogan. The seller's sister-in-law is a lawyer in New Jersey and she was left this globe in the will of one of her wealthy ... moreclients. We do not have any additional provenance. The globe measures approximately 26" inches in diameter and has raised relief built up with some sort of plaster. The only date we can find is'Scott 1902' printed on one of the areas of Antarctica. It is all in German except for the company name and slogan on the side. This globe was brought to the Antique Roadshow in New Jersey a number of years ago. They gave it an estimated value of $1,500, but said it could sell much higher at auction because it is the only one of its kind. It comes on a three-sided wooden base with'North German Lloyd Bremen' printed on each side. The globe has a long screw mounted on the bottom that goes into the base. The base piece measures about 16" inches tall and 21" inchess along the bottom of each side. The hole in the top is somewhat stripped so the screw doesn't tighten any longer, and the pedestal piece on top of the base is somewhat loose. The base has cracks and is missing a few small trim pieces, and the printing is worn off on one side. There is moderate damage to the raised relief on the globe itself; some sections are missing and some are quite delicate. W

Antique Lighted Glass World Globe Paris Not Crams UFO Extraterrestrial Alien
Here we have a glass lighted globe which shows UFO sightings according to USSR data as of 1960. A most unusual piece. Various areas of the outer"skin" of the glass globe were peeled back and highlighted with white to show where these sightings occurred. Interesting that many areas of Antarctica were areas of UFO sightings. The writing on the base indicates a year of 1960. The amber bulb[included] lights up with the inline switch working as it should. Besides the alteration showing the sightings, the only other things I see is the finial on the top has been replaced by a nut and a tight age crack in the wood stem of the base which poses no threat to the structural integrity. FANCY ANTIQUE RAND MCNALLY TERRESTRIAL 12" WORLD GLOBE W/ CAST IRON BASE
Just acquired out of an estate this week. We are able to offer this original, early 1900's era ~ FANCY RAND MCNALLY 12" TERRESTRIAL WORLD GLOBE ~. The globe has a wonderful cast iron base with a bronze patina. This globe is in very nice, all original"untouched" and uncleaned condition. It was actually very well cared for these past 100 or so years as you will see. There is some expected wear from age and use but much less than you usually see. The print is a steel engraving printed in 1822. The sheet measures 10 X 8 inches and is in good condition aside from a light crease across the top. Small stain in the tip of the lower right corner and light age toning. The image is titled"Geography. Plate 3. It is inscribed in the lower right corner:Garner. This is the name of the engraver. It is inscribed across the bottom: Pub.d by S. Richards& Co. London. The print comes from“The Modern Encyclopedia or Universal Dictionary of Arts. Science& Literature” published in London, by Richards& Co. in 1822 There is nothing printed on the reverse side. The print is shown on a black background in order to show the entire sheet. This is an antique print guaranteed to be over 180 years old. Dietrich Reimers was one of the most prolific German Globe makers of the 19th and early 20th century. In 1852 the firm of Carl Adami& Co. Berlin was taken over by the publishing house Dietrich Reimer(1818-1899) who employed the talents of the highly innovative Heinrich Kiepert, a well known Geographer and Cartographer at the time. This foundation and partnership establish the company of Dietrich Reimer Verlag as one of the very best within the globe making industry. To this day Reimers Globes are highly prized among collectors. The typical German attribute of attention to detail and refined map making skills are clearly demonstrated on this model. Note the dated cartouche. It was uncommon to display a print date unless at war time. To document advancement of military troops as means of propaganda… which this globe is effectively displaying. Desccription: The plaster and paste board orb is covered with 12 individual. Hand applied paper gores and two polar calottes.
