It has light discoloration. As expected for it's age. Of Interest: A list of islands. Lakes, mountains, rivers, creeks and towns is provided on the back of the map(not shown) This is an amazing detailed map and with some care it can be mounted and framed to enjoy a piece of history. This is the actual original item and not a copy. As it was always in a book the colors have been wonderfully preserved. These will look wonderful framed and hung on your wall and will be sure to give you pleasure for years to come. They are very attractive. Detailed and colorful maps that give us a glance into the past, and have been lots of fun pouring over them for hours by myself, and with friends, looking at the huge differences that have occurred in the last four to five generations. The occasional edge damage such as a tear. Foxing and even the rare stain or crease does appear on a few of these maps that I have for sale, however, any damage that affects the map itself( as opposed to the edge) will be listed above. Both maps are dated 1916 and titled Reconnaissance Map Of Yukon Koyukuk Region Alaska. These maps were produced by the United States Geological Survey. These maps are both marked Bulletin 631 with one being Plate 1 and the other being Plate II. One map shows the geological deposits. These maps are both fully complete but they are rather fragile and have separation on the fold lines in places. Both maps have some damp staining. 1940's Alaska Wall Map by Kroll Map Company
For sale is a map of Alaska measuring 31 1/2 by 49 inches. The map was made by Kroll Map Company. There is no exact date but it reads compiled from the latest surveys and they are using the population data of 1939 and it has aviation fields of January 1941. So I believe its from the early 40's. The map has been folded and in storage for a while. Creases show. Along the creases there is wear and some small wear holes- If framed and under glass. I don't believe these would be very noticeable. IT extends southwards to include all of the Aleutian Islands and Cape Perpetua on the as yet unnamed Oregon coast. Vintage Frontier Type Map Of Alaska On Poplin
This is a very nice vintage map of Alaska printed on what I believe to be poplin. It is ver four feet square. The pictures show the creases from being folded that will work right out. I also tried to show the fabric and type of printing with a close up. This is a wonderful piece and would look great as a wall hanging or in a frame.
