Rare1890 Iliff's Imperial Atlas of the World Map States Oregon California Alaska
This is for the map you see in the pictures. This is a big map at 11 x 14-1/2 inches from edge to edge. The map is in great condition with no rips or marks in the map part and just slight toning to the page. This is a double or triple sided map and will include the states in the title. Some of the map pages are made together as they have a 2 page map on the inside and a single one on the back of each side of that. You will have to look carefully at the pictures as that is the maps you will get. I have a lot of other maps on from this atlas and will combine shipping. This atlas was already divided into the maps before I bought it so this is how you will get the maps. This is a very hard to find book and not a common atlas. This is from book Iliff's Imperial Atlas of the World printed in 1891. Thanks

I cannot stress enough how beautiful this map is up close compared to the photos that you see. Note that the photos do not do the map justice. This is truly an incredible map to behold! This is your chance to own a map that can be the centerpiece of your collection. Cartographer: Rigobert Bonne(1727-1795) was one of the most important cartographers of the late 18th century. In 1773 he succeeded Jacques Bellin as Royal Cartographer to France in the office of the Hydrographer at the Depôt de la Marine. Working in his official capacity Bonne compiled some of the most detailed and accurate maps of the period. Bonne's work represents an important ... morestep in the evolution of the cartographic ideology away from the decorative work of the 17th and early 18th century towards a more detail oriented and practical aesthetic. With regard to the rendering of terrain Bonne maps bear many stylistic similarities to those of his predecessor. Bellin. However, Bonne maps generally abandon such common 18th century decorative features such as hand coloring, elaborate decorative cartouches, and compass roses. While mostly focusing on coastal regions, the work of Bonne is highly regarded for its detail, historical importance, and overall aesthetic appeal. General Description: 1. 1931 map of Alaska. 11.25" X 15" Detailed. Genuine. Very Rare, read why!
This is a 1931 map of Alaska. It is from a scarce Cram's Atlas. The map measures 11.25 X 15 inches. It is in near mint condition showing only minor handling. Buyer will get a printed out page size copy of the index page. This is superior to any"Certificate of Authenticity" which are normally printed out on the sellers own computer. We send this to prove map was extracted from this extremely rare atlas and to help with insurance appraisals as the map will surely increase in value. There are a few reasons this map is rare. And more difficult to obtain than a Cram's map of the late 1800's. In 1931 the United States and the World was in a catastrophic depression. Thus Cram's did not print as many, and very few people had the money to buy this atlas. Most surviving copies are the ones in Libraries and Universities. The last two photos validate the origin of the map and its publishing date. The back of this map includes all the towns and cities in Alaska in 1911. Plus their population and location on the map. The back also includes a partial map of the Hawaiian islands(see photo) plus the towns in Hawaii. This map has a total page size of 15-1/8" wide x 22-1/2" long. And an image size of 13" wide x 20" long. The map's condition is excellent, with only a little yellowing of the white margins, a few small tears in the margins, and a crease mark in the center of the map. Beautiful Poster Americana Here is a beautiful vintage Advertising and Pictorial Map of Alaska and its vast Surrounding Territory- a promotional poster map put-out by the shipping company The Alaska Steamship Company showing the"Alaska Line" This map is dated 1936. It is designed and executed in the distinctive Art Deco style and format that was prevalent in that era. The Great Depression, which was also the Golden Age of the Pictorial Map. Actually, the poster has 3 maps on it: the main map at center showing all of Alaska(no easy feat) the Yukon, the surrounding oceans, and the extreme eastern tip of Russia(the Soviet Union then) a"perimeter" map showing travel distances- the perimeter being North ... moreAmerica; and, a 9" x 7" insert map showing Southern Alaska. The entire map is 29 3/4" x 20 1/2" The map was published and printed by Frank McCaffrey, Seattle. No illustrator is named. The map is very colorful in greens, reds, blues, black, yellow, tan, and shades of these colors. On the left and right the map is framed by totem pole symbology. I like the way the cartographer lays out the totem poles in the Art Deco style; I believe it's very unique to this map. Within the top and bottom borders wording and lettering predominate, and these are also clearly Art Deco. This map is in excellent well preserved condition. It is printed on very thin paper, which makes its top shelf condition all the more remarkable. The map is folded, as originally, in half; each have having 8 equal sized panels. There are several inserts of art work within the map, such as the Key which is"supported" by a Kodiak bear and a seal.
