Lantern is marked"Tung Wood, Hong Kong, Stern" It measures approximately 8 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" wide. Cosmetically, it's in vintage condition(shows some wear, minor dings etc. It could use a good cleaning! There are no chips or cracks in the glass. The lantern has not been tested. Star of India Pair Vintage Brass Nautical Electric Ship Lanterns/Lamps
Overview This listing is for a pair of amazing vintage brass ship lamps with plaques engraved"Star of India. The lamps have a front door that you can unclasp and swing right open when you need to change the bulbs. Behind the bulbs is a circular reflector to augment the light. The glass has rectangular lattice and beside the plaques are beautiful spiral reliefs. Operation These lamps run on electricity and you can view the innards in picture 7. The wires go through the hole in the back and connect right to the wall. The lamps switch on and off via a spinning dial on the bottom right. Dimensions and Condition The actual lamps measure 11.5 inches tall. 8.5 inches wide, and 5 inches deep. The stacks on the top add another 5 inches in height. I would say that they are roughly 7 lbs. each. They are in very fine condition. The only flaw is ... moreone small chip in the glass on the bottom of one of the side panels, but this is virtually invisible during display. History I am dubious as to whether these actually came off the Star of India ship. But these are nautical lamps and were probably for maritime use at one point or another. Even if they are not authentic instruments off the Star of India, they are still a beautiful flattery of the world's oldest active sailing ship. The Star of India began in 1863 on a shipyard in the Isle of Man, first named Euterpe. After the Greek goddess of music and poetry. She obtained her present name through her first perilous voyages to India that were afflicted by collision, mutiny, and a cyclone from which she returned to port scathed and downtrodden. She made several more trips to India and was purchased in 1871 by Shaw Savill line of London where she began transporting working class emigrants from England, Ireland, and Scotland, suffering very poor living conditions to prosper in New Zealand. Heavy bronze casing for ship's light. No wiring. Or lens is with this. From the front this measures 5" high where the lens would fit. 6" wide. Apprx 8-1/4" from the bottom of the front to the back. This has a number embossed on the inner case. 9737. There is a symbol above it in the shape of a shield but I am unable to see the symbol inside the shield. The weight is apprx 7 pounds. Where the 3 screw holes are seen on the inside. 1 is opened but the other 2 look like they have a screw that possibly was cut off? see the last picture) Shows some wear& needs a polishing.

This is for one vintage– antique red glass lens for a boat light. Ship light, shore light or lantern. It is in the shape of half of a cylinder. The lens is in the shape of a Fresnel lighthouse style lens. It is red glass through and through. Not just red on the surfaces. It is 7 3/8 inches tall and 7 7/8 inches wide at it's widest. It has an inside diameter of 6 9/16 inches. It has a molded in rabbit or stepped edge for mounting in the lantern on the top and bottom. On the top edge it has"Corning Made in U.S.A. molded in the glass. The side edges have grind marks from making it flat there. There are some small chips on the edges. There are no cracks or repairs on it. It came from Duluth, Minnesota. Duluth is at the west end of Lake Superior and has a large ocean going ship harbor. I am selling a unique working vintage brass nautical passage light with red glass. It measures 15" from the top of the brass hook to the bottom brass hook and 4 1/2" wide. It has a 15 ft cord and slightly shorter chain. The chain links are separated near the top- see photo and wrapped around the cord near the bottom- could be reattached with pliers. Vintage Capt. David Babcock Clipper Ship Nautical lamp-Young America 1853-#1
Hello. You are viewing my auction for a Vintage"Capt. David Babcock Clipper Ship" Nautical lamp. This is a"Young America 1853" Lamp. This lamp would make a great addition for any nautical decor room or restaurant. This lamp measures 21" tall up to the top of the light bulb socket. It measures 7 and 1/2" across at the bottom. The top light socket is in perfect working condition. It turns on and off perfectly. There is a smaller light bulb in the center of the glass. This bulb does not turn on and I am unsure how to open up this lamp to replace the bulb. The lamp has minimal wear present. There is NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING PERMITTED ON THIS LAMP. Vintage Mid Century Ceramic Ship TV lamp light from the 50's works fine
Portable TV lamp. Sticker on back reads underwriter's lab. Nice ship on the water. Back in the fifties when someone bought a new TV this would be given to the customer as a bonus, that is why they are called TV lamps. This one actually survived all those years and works. Due to the age there is typical age crazing but nothing is broken. On very top there might be a slight loss of paint but no chips. This looks wonderful lit up at night. Would recommend a low wattage bulb on this lamp. 10 inches high by about 12 inches in length.

We have refurbished the light by stripping of the paint and polishing the lights so that could regain their former luster. The lights are rewired with basic UL approved sockets and wires. Please note that the lights have scratches. Dents and wear and tear and are old. Lastly please note that the light does not some with the brass ring above the handle as shown in the pictures. As seen in attached photos Up for auction is a authentic ship's lantern from Japan. White light made by the Sento Company LTD. The label carries several sets of numbers. 582 B899 32 12 Also. The glass itself is marked in white with"1796" Electrical fittings have been tested and work perfectly. Add a light bulb and use as a lamp. Or copper tubing could easily be removed. The electric fitting was a later addition and is secured through the bottom with three small screws. Piece measures 33cm(13" tall without the handle and 24 cm across the base. An original solid brass oil lantern made by BULPITT& SONS BIRMINGHAM 1940 Embossed on the chimney of the lantern. F ully functional. Heavy gauge brass lantern complete with all its original parts. Used aboard a ship as a bulkhead. Cabin/wardroom lamp. Stands 16" high. 20" high with the handle upright, 8 1/2" wide x 6" deep. The unit has a three sided glass face. With a right side access door. The burner is made to come out to fill. It also has a key that the wick can be put up or down without opening the door. The chimney also opens up the top section for cleaning or service. During the days of televisions inside decorative cabinets that also served as an elegant piece of furnature. Sat on top of gramp's beloved American made Magnavox tube television long before the days of wall-mounted LCD's. Measures 12 1/2" tall x 11" long x 2 3/4" wide at widest point(base) Weighs almost 2 lbs. Lamp is in good working condition. Newer electrical wiring/cord. Uses a Christmas light bulb. Which unscrews from the back for replacement. Currently features a blue bulb. I have no idea how old the bulb might be or how much longer it will work before replacement. This is a very unique Maritime item. It's brass light with 4 sided glass. They had filaments of green and red. Port and Starboard are on the light. As you can see the colors had brittle. This light was converted to an indoor display light but it still has the original three sockets if someone wants to return it to its original use as a nautical light. Either way this nautical light will display well. New/Used: Used. Approximate Dimensions in Inches- Length: 10” Diameter: 5 ½” Condition: Very good. The previous owner converted it to an indoor display light. The only two things we did were clean/inspect the glass lens and replacing the light cord. Which was defective. There is some corrosion and oxidation on the original three light sockets. The lens is intact with the exception of a crack near the new light bulb that was added. This crack is not that noticeable and can only ... morebe seen when the light is on. It does not appear to go all the way through the glass because you can’t feel it with your fingernail on either the inside or outside. Please see the last picture depicting this flaw. This light may have other minor imperfections consistent with use and age. This is the real deal and it was used. Someone at some point of time made it electrical light. The glass has a few chips in the extremely thick glass. There is a couple small dents. But you can't hardly tell with the colors of the lantern. This lantern is unmarked. It is very solid and well made. Fresh from an estate nautical collection is a Vintage PERKO Brass Ship Lantern. Glass marked Perkins Mfr. Anchor, Lens No. 21. This brass navigation lamp has been electrified for modern use and is in very good condition for its age. No breaks or cracks, marks on glass is reflection from camera light flash. Some minor scratches as to be expected on a Lamp this old, some soldering, needs plug, one cage wire slightly bent. This auction is for a PAIR of MATCHING Starboard and Port LANTERNS. Awesome pair of vintage ship's lanterns manufactured in Japan by Nippon Sento and Company. They are completely intact and considering their age. In excellent condition. They haven't been altered or painted and have a gorgeous patina present. Heck, who am I kidding, they haven't been touched(dusted) in years. Yes, those are cobwebs you see in the photos! The hinged doors haven't been opened in probably 50 years so you can imagine my surprise while opening to take photos finding the original oil containers with the wicks still intact. All writing on both lanterns is in Japanese. I don't detect any breaks. Chips or cracks in the colored lenses or glass. These were purchased by my father while stationed in Japan in the 1960's and were'vintage' ... morewhen purchased. Antique ship light that has been wired to now be a working electric light. Mount to your dock to find your way home or to your boat for a cool look! Body is copper. May have had a thin brass coating at one time. 12" red glass lens is in great shape and is pebbled inside. Entire light measures 23" tall and is 15" front to back. There are three large clip hinges that hold the lens rim in place. At the top of the light you can see the two small stationary hinges(one is broken) so that the lens and trim ring can be lifted up but remain attached. Even though one of these is broken. The lens and trim ring are held securely by not only the remaining hinge but the three much larger ... moresnap hinges at the top and sides of the light. The light has an iron base with four big screws for mounting. There used to be a mercury glass reflector that fit the back of the light's interior. Only shards of it were left when I found this light. The gentlemen I purchased it from said his mother had aluminum foil inside for a reflector. She had it mounted on their boat dock and they used it to find their way home. The light has a long industrial electric cord on it and works great(see pics) Light has a great look! They don't make them like this anymore! I have not attempted to clean or polish the brass housing. But with a bit of elbow grease, it would probably shine up. Weighs 24 pounds unboxed.
