this is 17" long and about 16" tall. cast from aluminum or zinc. Not sure but makers family member said it was zinc. he said his father manufactured these in chicago years ago and that this was the actual prototype. i have seen similar ones made from glass here on ebay and the family did own a glass factory. this one is all metal and no glass. i did not plug it in to test the lights.

RARE Vintage Lantern Light Buoy Piling Ship Anchor Dock Nautical Galv. Brass
Up for auction today is vintage nautical lantern. Different people call these types by such names as; buoy. Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ light. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and ... moredo not know if there is a bulb inside. The one photo that shows the lens bright was held up to the sun. The lantern is in good overall condition with some oxidation and rust as shown. You can access the bulb area by unscrewing the cage. The cage and the globe unscrew as one piece on this design. The cage screw on and off with little effort. This light has been totally rewired with all new UL-Listed parts rated for any voltage of 250 volts or less. The ... morenew bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb of 50 watts or less. The new wires exit the light from one of the original conduit holes. This light can be used inside or outside. It will never rust! Cast Brass Vintage Wall Mounted Nautical Light w/Junction Box and Rain Cap Cover
Google the name"big ship salvage" and you will learn more about who we are! You are bidding on the cast brass nautical light shown above. Each one of these cast cast brass bulkhead lights weighs about 8 pounds. From the top of the mount to the bottom of the cage each one measures about 11 inches. When mounted to the wall it will extend out from the wall by about 11 inches. The cage and globe unscrew from the main housing to access the bulb area. We have re-wired this light and installed a new UL Listed bulb fixture that holds a normal 75 watt house bulb. The back side of the cast brass junction box has two mounting lugs that are 5 inches on center of each other. The rain cap or deflector cover is 10 inches wide with a nice rolled edge and is made of brass. Our new wires terminate inside the junction box area. The metal is either BRASS or BRONZE and EXTREMELY HEAVY! The red and green lenses look to be very old. ORIGINAL and quite THICK! The red one has a few dings in it as pictured, but the green one does not. Looks like it would have been mounted on a pole at the bow of the boat or vessel. GORGEOUS AUTHENTIC and OLD! Boat or Dock Light* This is a vintage maritime nautical Fresnel Lens Lamp that was previously being used as a dock light in Austoria. Oregon on Oregon's North Coast. It appears to be brass or copper metal(do not know if solid or plate) It has a glass fresnel lens. It measures approximately 7 1/2" tall to top of hanger and 4 1/2" in diameter at the base. It is wired to take a standard electric light bulb. The metal top and bottom attach to fresnel lens with thumb set screws. It is as found and well weathered from years of use although it is still functional. We have not cleaned the metal or glass and there are deposits from the elements on both the metal and glass. It could probably be cleaned up but wanted to leave it with ... moreits original weahered look. Other than the the weathering from the elements it is in good vintage condition and the glass fresnel lens does not have any cracks or chips. It was purchased from an estate, it puts off a lot of light, has polished metal interior globe with Coleman lantern type mantle. Tripod legs telescope light to height of about 8' weighs about 50 lbs. BTU rating of 4630. Has 1/4" 2 section glass. Globe is 13 1/2" across, rotates 360' and tilts 45/60' I think top is cast aluminum, the rest is galvanized. It includes the kerosene Lamp Light container, but is missing the interior reflector,and does have a 1/2 inch occlusion in the lense. The lamp was originally produced by the Tideland Signal Company and is probably the Maxlumina Model ML-155. When new. The marine lamp cost approximately $1400. Also, the piece is originally from Baltimore's Francis Scot Key Bridge over the Patapsco River a mile in front of Fort McHenry where Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner in 1814 now our National Anthem and remained there for many years. I bought this from a electrical contractor who serviced the bridge and replaced it years ago. This lantern was modified for home or garden use by attaching a 110 power cord. Here is a HUGE DRESSEL Lantern marked MOHAWK LAMP NEW YORK STATE CANALS. This lantern is marked on top DRESSEL ARLINGTON NJ. USA. This old Beauty is 17 1/2 inches tall from bottom to top an 22 1/2 tall to the top of the hanging handle. It should be noted this IS AN OLD RELIC AND SOMEONE SHOULD NOT EXPECT PERFECTION. There is some staining the glass FRESNEL IS 8 INCHES ACROSS CLEAR GLASS AND 7 INCHES TALL AND IS MARKED CORNING. There is a crack in the FRESNEL photo 5 and some chips in the glass from years of use. NOTE THE GLASS IS INTACT AND NOT LOOSE. The turn screws are tight but work and the top comes off. The base is 10 inches across and 3 inches high.
