It is very heavy bronze ... moreweighing 40lb and is 12" in diameter and 15 inches tall. it has a heavy clear glass fresnel lens a separate inner red lens which sits about an inch inside the fresnel lens. the red lens has a few cracks, but seems to be stable. the only marking that I can find on this is the number "3" stamped at the lug where the cord exits. this light is wired to accept a standard edison base bulk. The cord is 10 feet long and in decent shape, but is a little stiff from age. As shown in the photos, the cap flips open to access the bulb.

Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ ... morelight. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and do not know if there is a bulb inside. The one photo that shows the lens bright was held up to the sun. The lantern is in good overall condition with some oxidation and rust as shown. The rubber gasket and other rubber pieces are inside but in poor condition(see photos) Please look at the photos carefully to see what is included. The lantern/ lamp is untested. We recovered this light and soda blasted all the old paint off followed by a hand polishing job! We have custom made the brass pipe and ceiling mounting plate to allow for easy installation on your project. The ceiling mounting plate is 5 3/4 inches wide with four screw holes. Each light has a total height of about 32 inches. The mounting pipe is about 12 inches long and the copper and brass housing is about 20 inches tall. We have installed new glass in the wide end of the light. The glass is 13 1/2 inches wide with the total wide end frame measuring more like 15 inches wide. VINTAGE COPPER & BRASS MASTHEAD NAUTICAL LANTERN Made In England
MASTHEAD nautical/ Marine Ships Oil Lamp/ Lantern- 10 1/2" tall from base to top of handle. That's about all I know about this piece! Please review the photographs and ask questions if you have them. I will tell you what I see below. But I don't know anything about these things. It appears to be. From what I see on the Internet, an oil lamp or lantern for a ship. It appears complete to me, again based what I see on the Internet. I see the lantern, a metal reflector inside, a wick in a holder, with a knob that turns to raise the wick. Back of the lantern slides up and down to access the inside. At the back of the lantern. At the top, it says Made in England. On the front of the lantern. On top(the chimney? it has a decorative little plaque that says Masthead. Inside. On the handle that turns, believe it says Sherwood, but it's ... morehard to see. Also inside. On the brass colored piece that holds the wick, it says WEDGE. This was advertised as a"vintage marine oil lantern" The auction I just purchased this at. I do not know if it is old. A repro, original, in part or in whole, or if it is in working order. I can tell you that when I slipped my hand inside. There was some black dirt that resembled SOOT. At some point, I believe this was used. The fabric wick appears clean/unused. Assuming that was replaced. The globe is rounded and feels thin. I do see waves or imperfections. And what may be little bubbles. It almost feels plastic to me, but why would plastic be wavy or contain little bubbles? I just don't know. There is a dent to the right of the masthead label. And another small ding at the rear, left side, about 3 inches from the top of the sliding door. Other than that, aside from needing a very good cleaning and dusting, and a few scratches or minor markings, this looks wonderful to me. Please take a moment to view all photographs. Vintage Antique STERN Nautical Hong Kong Copper Brass Oil Navigation Lantern 9"
This lantern was probably acquired in Singapore where my father-in-law operated a salvage diving business in the 70's.he was US Navy Diver. Who spent a lot of time on boats-and then driving ships, once he retired. The wick is trimmed, slides securely down and there is a reflector that slides in behind it. The wick cap does not click securely to the oil reservoir, though. The thumb wheel turns the wick up and there is one to open the hatch to pull up and refill the reservoir. The top clicks down securely where the ring is positioned. I have some better pictures but am having some trouble uploading from that camera. Email me if you would like to see more.

They are solid copper with glass lenses and appear to be very nice quality lamps. We believe that these were made in the 1960's era as replacements for the original antique lamps. I would imagine that they were very expensive to purchase when new. They measure 9 1/2 inches tall" not counting the bail handle" by about 6 inches wide. They are in very nice condition with only a couple fairly minor little dents. The ne burner has the chimney and the other burner does not. Vintage Copper Oil Lamp Possibly Brass? Weighted Ship Lamp?
Here we have a cool old copper oil lamp. I believe it's copper. As the bottom is turning that beautiful reddish tint. The portions above that, however, look like they could be brass, as they are aging differently. The lamp is approximately 9 inches tall and 5 inches wide. The only identifying marks are on the neck in tiny writing which says"patd oct 31 1875" I'm sure it's that old but I couldn't find another like it. The lamp does not have any dents or scratches to speak of. It was probably a ship lamp. As the base is weighted. The whole lamp is heavy for its size; I would say 5 or 6 pounds or so. If you know what this lamp is or anything about it. Please let me know, as I love learning about old stuff like this.

Up for sale is a Starboard Meteorlite Lamp 51751. There is a patent number(546575) on a brass plate soldered to the front of the lamp. Please see the photos. The dimensions of this historic ship lamp are about 23 inches high. 11 inches wide and 17 inches across the middle. The nautical lamp is made of primarily of sheet copper with brass fittings. There is a green light filter behind the glass that is removable. The Starboard Meteorite Lamp was made in Liverpool, England by Hugh Douglas, Walmsley, L'Pool, Sheet Iron Worker, Shipsmith, Boiler Maker, Tinsmith. Please see the photos. Very nice set of vintage lanterns. In decent shape. A very few minor blemishes. One has a green bulb and the other has a red one. Made of copper or tin. Do not think they are brass. Very light weight. On the lanterns"Starboard" and"Port" are etched. Do not know much about these. They are old and say Hong Kong on the bottoms. No other markings. I only came across two other sets identical to these online. That where sold in the past. So they are rare. They have been in storage for a few years so are in very good condition.
