Also worth noting is the fact that the fuel reservoir on one lamp is taller than on the other. Consequently the shorter lamp is 4.5 inches to the top of the burner while the other one stands 5 inches tall. The lamp base measures 4 5/8 inches side to side and the fuel reservoirs measure 3.5 inches in diameter which would likely be the size of the hole in the bottom of the lantern into which it is meant to fit. As well there is a difference in the lamp chimneys. While they are hand blown, one is 2 5/8 inches at the widest point while the other is 3 inches wide and both are 6 inches tall. They are original glass in these fixtures since there still are remnants of the word"Perko" stencilled on the top of each chimney. LL Rowe Bronze Ship Red Signal Light Symbol 190 Series Red FRESNEL LENS Works!
For your Bidding consideration is a L.L. ROWE nautical light with red fresnel lens. This is from the Series 190 group of Nautical lights used by the U.S. navy. I acquired it from a retiring Boat Motor Repair Service who had acquired it a number if years ago and was using it at night on his outdoor patio. It has a variety of markings embossed into the Bronze housing so see photos for numbers. It is 120 volt. 90 watt. It uses 6#15T7C lamps and is in great working condition. It has a heavy duty red fresnel lens with no cracks or chips. The cord, I don't believe, is not original as it would have originally been heavily wired for military use on a naval vessel in an outdoor environment but has been set up and is working. The cord has been spliced, most likely by the previous owner when setting it up for use. There is a small switch on one ... moreside for"On/ Off" When lit, the light is a cherry red color. The color in the photos is a bit muted but know it is a beautiful cherry red- much nicer than the photos reflect. I have spoken with the manufacturer and they said that this is an extremely high quality lamp- originally charged to the navy at circa $1200 per light. The light, due to the high quality of the Fresnel Lens, is visible 20-30 miles. When in use, the housing does heat up which is normal according to L.L. Rowe personnel due to the heat transfer from the lamps to the bronze housing. The light measures 9 1/2" tall x 6" wide at the base. It weighs 13 pounds pre-packed.
