Maritime Navigational Lanterns.The main housing is constructed of galvanized iron and ... morethe top cover is copper. However they have not been shined up. The original manufacturer was Wilcox& Crittenden& Co. There trademark was Capital W with a Capital C embossed on top of one another. The factory was in Middletown, CONN. USA. There is a photo of the Logo which appears to be embossed on brass, it is on the side, located on top of a metal sleeve, which is riveted on the lantern itself. This sleeve must have been used to slip over something to hold it secure to the ship. Both sleeves are intact and extremely secure. This embossing is very difficult to capture in a photo as the glare, and clarity of a photo so close. The lanterns stand just shy of 13" tall with the hanging loop standing up. They are made to fit in a corner. The sides measure 5" With the front curving around to meet the 2 sides. The glass itself is 5" tall and is almost 90 degrees. One lantern has fresnel green glass for the starboard, and the lantern with the fresnel red glass is for the port. The glass on both lanterns is in very good shape and have no cracks or chips. The metal round accesses to the oil chambers/wicks are both present and appear tight when screwed in. The wick chambers need cleaning, but seem to work, and even have wick left in them! We didn't attempt to light them, but knowing something about oil lanterns, don't see any reason they wouldn't work, however this isn't a guarantee. just presenting things honestly. The metal. Nowhere, on either lantern shows any sign of rust. However they are a brown color. Paint appears to be old, in some places chipping, or peeling off. There are the usual signs of true usage. Wear and tear. Overall appear to be in very good shape. I have not checked them for leakage, however on inspection, I don't see any reason they would leak. I have no idea how old they are. They are usually flat on the back. Ours is V shaped that fits in a corner with bracket pocket on the left. Its red fresnel glass lens was made by Perko with Mold No.35 on its side. Glass is in good condition with about 3 tiny. Tiny chips on the ribs of the glass that are hardly noticeable. Also has a few tiny paint specks, age& dirt. No cracks though. The lantern has been painted red sometime in its life that’s faded, chipping. It comes with a chain& Original brass Miller Co. burner& hurricane ... moreglass that’s attached to bottom cover. The hurricane is in good condition with some tiny chipping along the bottom rim that goes into the burner. Also is soiled. The lantern’s body is in good-fair condition except looks like something heavy was put on its top& it caved in a little to the right. But does not affect the structural integrity, it just adds character! The top still opens fine. This would make a unique& super conversation piece. If only it could talk! Up for sale today we are pleased to be offering an Antique Copper Riveted R.C. Murray& Co PORT Side Ship Maritime Lantern/Lamp with Clear Lens. This is in original un-restored condition. This is labeled on front: PORT LAMPADS No 552 RC Murray& Co Limited 37 Cavendish St Glasgow Etched on the glass on the front of the lens is MWGW Ltd. S.L.C. 118 There is some denting. There is oxidation causing some nice green patina mostly around the edges but there are no rust holes. There is a seam split near the bottom underneath the lens and you can see through to the inside as it is split across the front and open in some areas though not in others. There is noticeable dirt and some rust on the inside from years of storage. The lens has some chips but none of them go through. There are three which are noticeable and the rest of the lens is in ... moregood condition. It measures 21" high X 14" across X 14" deep. Diameter across the top is 5 3/8" approximately. The lantern measures approximately 22" X 15" X 12" and weighs 13.5 lbs. There are two small chips in the glass lens(see photo 7) and other wear consistent with age and use. The lantern has both port& starboard lenses, with a dividing plate between the ribbed red& deep aqua green glass. The lantern has old silver paint with typical surface age. The interior lamp is brass& shows surface greening. The wick advances. One of the two side mounting brackets on the interior lamp is missing. The lantern displays very nicely& the glass on the lantern is free of any chips or cracks. No dents. It measures 11" high to the top of the holding ring by 4.5" wide and 7" deep. Vintage Tung Woo PORT Lantern I recovered this Tung Woo port-side lantern from a sunken pipe barge while working off the coast of Borneo in the South China Sea in 1971. From it’s configuration it appears to have always been an electric lantern. I used it with a small battery light for a little evening ambiance on the deck table. So no heat damage from using it with candles. From the number of mounting holes(see last photo) it had a long service use history before I salvaged it. My guess is early post WWII. It has a heavy clear glass lens with an internal removable curved glass red filter. It’s got dents. Dimples and a wonky corner, decades of stains from living outside but no gouges or deep scratches. I have seen others with the same thing on them and believe it was purposely bent like that to fit on the ships they were used on since its not only this one I've seen like that. Vintage ship's starboard lantern in a unique tri-plex shape. One of the largest I've seen at 21" from base to finial. 11" x 11" square with the typical curved front. Thick blue glass(not an interchangeable light filter) with horizontal grooves. Brass trim and a brass finial with hanging ring. Great"keyhole" vent holes throughout. Suffers from an untidy paint job and is in need of some updating. Missing original kerosene lamp and has been converted with a light socket. Needs new electrical cord. Brass has a lovely patina and there is still some vintage kerosene soot on the inside of this lamp. There is a small spot on the bottom by a switch of some sort that corrosion has eaten through the metal. But it's repairable and not endemic to the rest of the lantern. Glass is free of cracks or chips.

Beautiful antique ship's lantern- Not a reproduction Made by Universal Metal Spinning and Stamping Co. New York. The manufacturer is stamped into the side of the lantern. Markings on the top say"Port Classes II& III" This is a triangular shaped lantern and has a hinged door. Vented top, and a handle for carrying. The lens is thick and'ridged' and is red in color. I do not see any chips or cracks and it seems to be plastered into place on the inside. There is no burner in the lantern but I see two slanted brackets on the bottom that probably held a base of some kind. There appears to be some wax in the bottom- not much. But someone had a candle in there at one tim-Measures about 10" tall(not including the handle) and is about 7 1/4" wide from corner to corner. Antique PERKO lantern with a thick Ruby Red lens which has a tiny chip. The lantern measures approximately 10 1/2" high(not including the handle- 1 3/4" and 7" wide. It has little Christmas Tree vents at the top and at the posterior bottom. Hinged door opens to an interior ring. Interior burner is missing. The well known PERKO company has been making marine lanterns since the early 1900's in Brooklyn. NY. I have no idea how old this lantern is. Antique Authentic Red Port-Side Ship Lantern/Lamp, Nice
This ship lantern has red lens which is in good shape; no noted chips or cracks. The bottom opens where the"oil lamp" was kept. This antique lantern has not been restored; rather. It is in its natural state after many years of use. The lantern is likely handmade/handcrafted and I would say it is from the early 20th century. I believe it is made of tinned iron and brass. The original brass oil/kerosene burner is in great original condition. I am unsure whether this lantern is a Perko marine lamp; it is unmarked from what I could determine. The port-side light was likely used on small river and harbor craft such as water taxis or tug boats. It measures approximately 10.25" in height to the top of the ring; 6" in width at the widest point; and, 4.5" in depth. Up For Auction Antique Nautical Copper Port Lantern? The tag on this lantern looks like it says N.L. Piper Railway Co Toronto I am selling this lantern for an estate of a gentleman that found this lantern in the 1950's when diving in the Great Lakes- Straits of Mackinac. The heavy red glass does have a crack towards the bottom(see picture) There is also a hole in the base(see picture) I don't know if it's suppose to be there or it happen at the time it went down as a shipwreck in the Straits. Burner stamped THE NATIONAL MARINE LAMP CO. metal plate on the flat back side has a patent date of APRIL 1ST 1913. 10" tall to the top of the ring on top, 4 3/4" wide, 4 1/2" deep, galvanized metal. The burner is rusted through and is missing one of two metal tabs that held it in place. The metal lantern shows areas of surface rust but is solid and not flimsy in any way, ding on the cupola where the ring is mounted, both pieces of glass in good condition. It would be simple to electrify or even easier to place a battery op light inside and enjoy the colored glass. Vintage Copper Hugh Douglas Meteorlite Port Side Ship Lantern
Up for sale is a Port Meteorlite Lamp 51750. There is a patent number 54657 stamped on a brass plaque soldered to the lamp. The dimensions of this historic ship lamp are about 23 inches high. 11 inches wide and 17 inches across the widest part. The nautical lamp is made of primarily of sheet copper with brass fittings. There is a red light filter that is removable that sits behind the glass. The Port Meteorite Lamp was made in Liverpool, England by Hugh Douglas, Walmsley, L'Pool, Sheet Iron Worker, Shipsmith, Boiler Maker, Tinsmith. A brass plate with this information is soldered to the front of the lantern. This lamp is in generally excellent condition. This is some patina. A few tiny dings and scratches, but presents very well and appears to be still 100% functional, though I did not put kerosene in the lamp tank to try it. The wick ... moreis in good condition and I have little doubt that it would not light right up if fuel was put in the tank. My father loved the sea and lived for many years near the water in Newport. Oregon. This lamp, along with a matching starboard lamp in another auction and a ship's compass/binnacle, were among the few things that he left behind when he died in 1998. I have no idea where he acquired them but he had them for a number of years. He used to prowl the ship dismantlers along the Willamette in Portland so maybe these came from there. I've held onto them until now. But I'm getting old and can't see that I'm going to do anything with them. This is a very heavy item at about 22lbs. Fedex shipping will be $30. I would be willing to deliver it within 100 miles of Portland. OR for expenses, in order not to have to ship it if someone reasonably local purchases it.
