very nice set of antique nautical lamps. Not real sure about the metal. I think it's brass then it looks like where it is worn copper. check out pictures. They are beautiful! appear to be in very good shape for the age, no dents cracks. This red light was used inside the exit doors of Navy ships so the enemy couldn't see lights at night when the doors were opened by sailors. It measures approx. 8 inches tall and 4+3/4 inches wide. Made by GLUHLAMPE M KENNZ. The glass has minor scratches and scuffs with no chips or no cracks. The lense housing screws on and off and the glass in the end of it is red. The guts are gone from this light and someone has wired it for 110v so you can plug it into any household plug in. These type lights are very hard to find. Gimballed Brass Oil Boat Lanterns Ship Lamp
These are from my 1976 English offshore racing sailboat. I've never used them. So cannot verify their working. I'd imagine they are fairly bulletproof simple things that should work, perhaps needing a bit of maintenance. They could use a good polishing. It is possible the the body brass is pitted beyond shine. The upper cap rod is missing its end cap thread, entirely aesthetic. All in all they seem a quality build.
