Antique ' Perko ' Nautical Marine Ship Lantern - Port Side Ruby RED Lens
Antique PERKO lantern with a thick Ruby Red lens which has a tiny chip. The lantern measures approximately 10 1/2" high(not including the handle- 1 3/4" and 7" wide. It has little Christmas Tree vents at the top and at the posterior bottom. Hinged door opens to an interior ring. Interior burner is missing. The well known PERKO company has been making marine lanterns since the early 1900's in Brooklyn. NY. I have no idea how old this lantern is. It doesn't appear to have been altered or painted and has a gorgeous vintage patina. TIP: For those of us lacking in Nautical skills. Measures approx. 8-3/4" high to top of cap and 10-1/2" to top of ring. Made entirely of brass and signed on the back"M'F'R'D. BY NATIONAL MARINE LAMP CO. NEW YORK. Wick adjustment knob is signed"P.A. MFG. CO. WATERBURY, CONN. MADE IN U.S.A. Lamp is all original and complete, wick still adjusts up and down freely. However, there are two old solder repairs to the two burner spring clips, and at some point someone cut a crude hole in the bottom hinged cover plate for an electric wire. Glass lenses appear to be the originals and are in good condition with NO cracks or chips. Still in very nice overall condition, just needs cleaning and polishing-if desired. Antique Authentic Red Port-Side Ship Lantern/Lamp, Nice
This ship lantern has red lens which is in good shape; no noted chips or cracks. The bottom opens where the"oil lamp" was kept. This antique lantern has not been restored; rather. It is in its natural state after many years of use. The lantern is likely handmade/handcrafted and I would say it is from the early 20th century. I believe it is made of tinned iron and brass. The original brass oil/kerosene burner is in great original condition. I am unsure whether this lantern is a Perko marine lamp; it is unmarked from what I could determine. The port-side light was likely used on small river and harbor craft such as water taxis or tug boats. It measures approximately 10.25" in height to the top of the ring; 6" in width at the widest point; and, 4.5" in depth. Marine Oil lamp from old port,stabord, lantern with flange burner & chimney
You are bidding on the oil lamp only! Not the lantern shown in the last pitcher. The picture of the lantern was borrowed from another dealer(with his permission) to show what the lantern that it came out of looked like. The Old Marine oil lamp is in mint condition. It is signed PERKO on the bottom of the lamp. The burner is signed Made in the USA and I think Miller but it is very hard to read. The rod going across the bottom Pick# 3 is to screw and lock the lamp in place in the lantern. The ends of the rod Pick#4 sticking out on either side are used to lock the lamp into the lantern. The lamp is 3 3/4" high 5 1/2" to the top of the burner 10 3/4" to thr top of the chimney and 4" in diameter. The burner will screw into a standard $2 collar. Up For Auction Antique Nautical Copper Port Lantern? The tag on this lantern looks like it says N.L. Piper Railway Co Toronto I am selling this lantern for an estate of a gentleman that found this lantern in the 1950's when diving in the Great Lakes- Straits of Mackinac. The heavy red glass does have a crack towards the bottom(see picture) There is also a hole in the base(see picture) I don't know if it's suppose to be there or it happen at the time it went down as a shipwreck in the Straits. Burner stamped THE NATIONAL MARINE LAMP CO. metal plate on the flat back side has a patent date of APRIL 1ST 1913. 10" tall to the top of the ring on top, 4 3/4" wide, 4 1/2" deep, galvanized metal. The burner is rusted through and is missing one of two metal tabs that held it in place. The metal lantern shows areas of surface rust but is solid and not flimsy in any way, ding on the cupola where the ring is mounted, both pieces of glass in good condition. It would be simple to electrify or even easier to place a battery op light inside and enjoy the colored glass. For sale is a very unique item. This is a vintage circa early 1900's divided port and starboard red and green ships lantern. It measures 10 inches tall not counting the handle. With the handle it is 14 1/2 inches tall. Across the back it is 10 3/4 inches wide. Side measurements are 9 3/4 inches wide. The glass measures approx. 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches. I do believe it is brass as a magnet does not stick. It is an electric lantern with the original on/off switch. It is in very good original condition. This was found in Key West FL. Antique Navigational Wilcox & Crittenden Port & Starboard Oil Lantern Pair
For Sale is a very nice set of 2 original oil burning nautical. Maritime Navigational Lanterns.The main housing is constructed of galvanized iron and the top cover is copper. However they have not been shined up. The original manufacturer was Wilcox& Crittenden& Co. There trademark was Capital W with a Capital C embossed on top of one another. The factory was in Middletown, CONN. USA. There is a photo of the Logo which appears to be embossed on brass, it is on the side, located on top of a metal sleeve, which is riveted on the lantern itself. This sleeve must have been used to slip over something to hold it secure to the ship. Both sleeves are intact and extremely secure. This embossing is very difficult to capture in a photo as the glare, and clarity of a photo so close. The lanterns stand just shy of 13" tall with the hanging ... moreloop standing up. They are made to fit in a corner. The sides measure 5" With the front curving around to meet the 2 sides. The glass itself is 5" tall and is almost 90 degrees. One lantern has fresnel green glass for the starboard, and the lantern with the fresnel red glass is for the port. The glass on both lanterns is in very good shape and have no cracks or chips. The metal round accesses to the oil chambers/wicks are both present and appear tight when screwed in. The wick chambers need cleaning, but seem to work, and even have wick left in them! We didn't attempt to light them, but knowing something about oil lanterns, don't see any reason they wouldn't work, however this isn't a guarantee. just presenting things honestly. The metal. Nowhere, on either lantern shows any sign of rust. However they are a brown color. Paint appears to be old, in some places chipping, or peeling off. There are the usual signs of true usage. Wear and tear. Overall appear to be in very good shape. I have not checked them for leakage, however on inspection, I don't see any reason they would leak. I have no idea how old they are. Vintage Copper Hugh Douglas Meteorlite Port Side Ship Lantern
Up for sale is a Port Meteorlite Lamp 51750. There is a patent number 54657 stamped on a brass plaque soldered to the lamp. The dimensions of this historic ship lamp are about 23 inches high. 11 inches wide and 17 inches across the widest part. The nautical lamp is made of primarily of sheet copper with brass fittings. There is a red light filter that is removable that sits behind the glass. The Port Meteorite Lamp was made in Liverpool, England by Hugh Douglas, Walmsley, L'Pool, Sheet Iron Worker, Shipsmith, Boiler Maker, Tinsmith. A brass plate with this information is soldered to the front of the lantern. This lamp is in generally excellent condition. This is some patina. A few tiny dings and scratches, but presents very well and appears to be still 100% functional, though I did not put kerosene in the lamp tank to try it. The wick ... moreis in good condition and I have little doubt that it would not light right up if fuel was put in the tank. My father loved the sea and lived for many years near the water in Newport. Oregon. This lamp, along with a matching starboard lamp in another auction and a ship's compass/binnacle, were among the few things that he left behind when he died in 1998. I have no idea where he acquired them but he had them for a number of years. He used to prowl the ship dismantlers along the Willamette in Portland so maybe these came from there. I've held onto them until now. But I'm getting old and can't see that I'm going to do anything with them. This is a very heavy item at about 22lbs. Fedex shipping will be $30. I would be willing to deliver it within 100 miles of Portland. OR for expenses, in order not to have to ship it if someone reasonably local purchases it. Here is something you don't see every day! For sale is a great old copper& brass lantern made by R.C. Murry& Co. Limited of Glasgow. England. It has all 3 of it's brass plaques, stating it's a Port lantern, who it's made by, and the patent numbers. The plaques have a beautiful flourish to them! It is identified as a Lamp-ads 924. The last photo shows you just how big this lantern really is, and it's BIG! It stands 25" with the handle up. 22" with it down, 15" across, and 14" deep. It was made for a Class 4 vessel, over 65' and weighs 18.5 lbs. It has a good Sherwood Burner, with both wheels working freely. The entire lantern is made up of copper. With the exception of the brass handle, plaques, flat back hanging bracket, and top lid. It has it's burner and reflector, both in good working ... morecondition. There are two small chips to the fresnel, both of which do not mar it's looks nor do anything to stop it's function. They are both exterior chips. The copper housing has one small ding at the bottom of the right hand corner of the fresnel. It is likely from the early 1930's. We acquired it along with a second lantern we were after at the time. It came from a Honolulu estate of an avid maritime collector. His main focus were for items from the RMS Queen Mary and the SS Normandie. His children said this lantern came from the Normandie. But they had no proof of that. However we did get a Letter of Provenance stating what I've said. don't know what that's worth though. Unusual Antique "Perko" Maritime Bow OIL Lantern ~Starboard & Port Lenses
Vintage“Perko” Maritime Bow Marker Oil Lamp Port& Starboard There seams to have been some repair to secure the Lenses and a Copper divide has been welded in on front of lamp. The Main case is galvanized metal and the top is brass. The Body is in good condition. With a mounting bracket on back and a Perko" oval stamped brass logo plate. The Lenses are red and a green(Port& Starboard) and in Perfect condition The Oil Burner seems to be a working unit with a wick still in place. The bottom of the lamp has a pinch clip insert.
