They are ... moredesigned to fit into the bottom of a nautical lantern and lock into place by the small posts on each side when you twist them using the bar handle on the bottom of the lamp.We will let the pictures tell most of the story but please note that they are both stamped"PERKO" on the base of each lamp and the burners are manufactured by P&A Mfg. Also worth noting is the fact that the fuel reservoir on one lamp is taller than on the other. Consequently the shorter lamp is 4.5 inches to the top of the burner while the other one stands 5 inches tall. The lamp base measures 4 5/8 inches side to side and the fuel reservoirs measure 3.5 inches in diameter which would likely be the size of the hole in the bottom of the lantern into which it is meant to fit. As well there is a difference in the lamp chimneys. While they are hand blown, one is 2 5/8 inches at the widest point while the other is 3 inches wide and both are 6 inches tall. They are original glass in these fixtures since there still are remnants of the word"Perko" stencilled on the top of each chimney. Vintage Copper PERKO Nautical Ship Lantern Electrical Marine Light Gulf Oil
This 16 1/4" tall electric lantern with an all original patina and toggle switch is from the estate of Howard Craven. He was a ship captain for the Gulf Oil Company until he retired in the early 1950's. When he then took up painting ships with oil on canvas. His father was also a ship captain, so I'm not sure which one used this lantern. It is all copper than I can see. It would be beautiful polished up, but I chose to leave it as is for those of you that would prefer it in it's original condition. It has what looks like original inner parts, wires, etc. see pictures) I have not tested to see if it works. I prefer not to challenge things like this since I know nothing of how they work. Pair of Antique of Perko Nautical Lamps DESCRIPTION Perko from Brooklyn. New York. These pieces are made out of galvanized steel and an oil canister. They also have red and green glass lenses on them. CONDITION Good Condition: but quite a bit of age and use related wear. These pieces are in all original condition with some visible age to them. The base oil lantern piece had pegs that I assume held it to the light assembly when rotated but these are worn down and do not hold it in place while hung. I just love the look of the old patina on the lantern but there was just one little thing I over looked when I bought it. MY WIFE! She likes New& Shinny. Well now it's even a few years older and not doing me any good if I can't display it. The lantern measures 12 1/2 inches high not including the top handle. It's 6 5/8s wide and 5 1/2 deep. An antique dealer informed me that based on the design. Quality, and materials used, it was likely built in the 1940’s by the prolific Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp based in Brooklyn. It measures 7½” tall(with the bale down) x 7” wide x 6” deep and weighs 3 pounds. The brass has been polished and clear coated. While the galvanized tin has been painted dark green and antiqued. Included are the original electric lighting fixture and oil font. The Perko Company information is engraved or embossed in the face of the brass burner adjusting knob. Pair of Vintage Perko Port/Starbard Split Ship Nautical Lanterns
Nice pair of old Perko split-lens boat oil lanterns from my collection. These were just restored over 20 years ago when I purchased them. One side is green the other is red. These are galvanized lanterns with brass trim and top ring. They are each 8" tall to the top of the ring. And 5" across at the base. The last four photos show the lanterns sitting on top of a flash light to show the color of the lens. All lens are crack-free and not chipped. 2- Vintage copper Perko Perkins Marine Barge Lamp Nautical Light Lanterns. Lanterns have clear glass and measure just over 13 inches from the bottom to the top of the handles. They are about 9 1/2 inches to the outside of each bracket mounted on the side of the lights. It looks like the screws in the handle on one of the lights has been replaced with new brass screws. The clear glass does have some small flea bites chips you can feel if you rub your finger around each edge of the rippled glass. It only appears that the lids or tops are copper or brass. I don't know anything about these as they were found in an estate clean out. I was told they are Perko lamps but found no markings- please do your own homework. Both look to have been rewired based on the 12v sticker inside. Now they have 110v wiring, one is missing a plug. Look to be made out of brass and galvanized, and the exterior of the galvanized is painted a flat black. Both lenses appear to be in great shape and are stamped'Perkins C/L 3 Side' and'FIC259 Mould No 3' They are approx 12" x 6" x 6" each and weigh about 3 3/4 lbs each. Large 15" Tall Antique Ship Nautical Maritime LANTERN Light PERKO? Restore Parts
Offered for sale is this old antique Maritime Ship Lantern for restoration or parts. I do not know who the maker was but it has a strong resemblance to some of the Perko Lamps that I am seeing on Ebay. It stands just under 15" tall. 7 1/2" wide and 7" deep. The ribbed glass is in good overall condition showing no cracks but could use a good cleaning. The original kerosene burner and font is missing and the lamp has been converted to electricity, but it does need to be re-wired as the wiring is old. This is a great candidate for restoration or to be used as parts. The bottom panel is hinged but is missing the slide rod to keep it closed which should be an easy fix. It is a rather heavy lantern weighing just over 6 pounds. There is a partial interior gasket photo 9 that could be replaced or not. Needs a bulb has wiring. Lens rear rim that faces the back is partial not cracked and fits well. Nice winged type design. Very heavy I believe bronze/brass chromed over. The top of the lens reads 186-P.
