The wide end with the glass measures 17 1/2 inches wide with the glass being right at 15 inches wide. The top mounting pipe we have installed is 10 inches long. You can make this light shorter by changing out this pipe with a shorter piece. Or you can make the light hang further down by adding a longer pipe. This pipe is common 1/2 inch black iron pipe you can buy at most hardware stores pre-threaded. We have used a hammered gold paint to give this iron pipe a matching brass look. The ceiling mount is 3 1/8 inches wide with four mount holes. This light has been re-wired with all new UL-Listed parts made by Westinghouse Electric. Our newly installed lighting hardware is rated for any voltage under 250 volts, so normal house power is not an issue. The new bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb with a wattage of less than 150 watts. Since the inside housing has very little space restrictions, you can even use the newer compact fluorescent bulbs, or a spot light with a common screw in base. Our wiring exits the center hole of the ceiling mount and we provide about 30 inches of extra wiring. When we find these lights. They are painted. We have removed the paint and polished the copper and brass. We do not try to polish our lights to the point they look new, so some buyers may spend some additional time doing additional polish work to get the light to your desired finish. Most people we have talked to hang our lights of this design with no additional polishing. The 8 closure nuts on the glass end of the light have been cleaned and oiled so they spin on and off with just a little effort. The glass on this light has some surface scratches. IT'S HAS THE PATINA OF THE 1800'S BUT AM TOLD IT WAS PROBABLY MADE IN THE 1950'S. IT WAS HOISTED UP IN TO THE SHIPS RIGGING AND COULD LIGHT UP THE SHIPS DECK. THE NAME ANCHOR IS AT THE TOP. THE BURNER IS TAPED TO PREVENT ANY MOVEMENT IN SHIPPING. IT IS IN PERFECT CONDITION. THIS IS NOT A SMALL LANTERN. THIS IS APPROX 15" HIGH( INCLUDING THE HANDLE AND IT IS APPROX 7" SQUARE INCLUDING THE WIRE CAGE THAT COVERS THE GLASS. THERE ARE FEW SCREWS MISSING NEAR THE BOTTOM. THE BRASS HAS A GREAT PATINA AND THERE ARE NO CRACKS IN THE GLASS. May have had a thin brass coating at one time. 12" red glass lens is in great shape and is pebbled inside. Entire light measures 23" tall and is 15" front to back. There are three large clip hinges that hold the lens rim in place. At the top of the light you can see the two small stationary hinges(one is broken) so that the lens and trim ring can be lifted up but remain attached. Even though one of these is broken. The lens and trim ring are held securely by not only the remaining hinge but the three much larger ... moresnap hinges at the top and sides of the light. The light has an iron base with four big screws for mounting. There used to be a mercury glass reflector that fit the back of the light's interior. Only shards of it were left when I found this light. The gentlemen I purchased it from said his mother had aluminum foil inside for a reflector. She had it mounted on their boat dock and they used it to find their way home. The light has a long industrial electric cord on it and works great(see pics) Light has a great look! They don't make them like this anymore! I have not attempted to clean or polish the brass housing. But with a bit of elbow grease, it would probably shine up. Weighs 24 pounds unboxed. zipedit] Description• This is a fantastic vintage 1930-40's era Nautical Maritime ceiling light fixture. The thick pressed glass shade has a soft pink finish with clear glass sailboats and anchors. The clear glass rim has a rope design and the bottom has a fabulous starburst sunburst compass pattern. The ceiling canopy has been refinished and has a copper colored metal ships wheel cover attached to a clear pressed glass telescope. The fixture has also been refinished and uses 3 bead chains that hold and suspend the shade. It has been completely rewired with a new porcelain socket and wiring. The glass shade measure 10.25" wide and is in excellent vintage condition with no chips. Cracks or loss of finish. It hangs 9" from ceiling to bottom of the shade and can be adjusted slightly higher or lower with the chains. Here is a very old QUALITY made BRASS/ BRONZE? NAUTICAL SHIP LIGHT. This ANTIQUE NAVIGATION light has a 6 1/2 inch base across and is about 5 1/2 inches tall. This light has really nice AGED PATINA and is a GREAT SHOW DISPLAY PIECE. there ARE 5 base bolts with this light. There are no interior parts. The glass shows on only 1/2 side of the light which was probably for a forward facing deck light. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WAS FROM A SHIP MAST? There are no makers marks. Very HEAVY about 7 lbs. The glass has a couple of flake specs see photo3 that are normal for a light this age. There is not cracks that go through only the flakes. This is a great nautical ANTIQUE FROM A TIME GONE BY. A 9,676-ton(light displacement) Admiral W. S. Benson-class transport built by the Maritime Commission to its P2-SE2-R1 design. Was commissioned in January 1945 with a largely Coast Guard crew. She departed San Francisco in March with troops and supplies for the Southwest Pacific, then moved to the Philippines where she embarked over 2,000 formerly interned civilians for repatriation to the United States. True survivor here with this awesome antique large search light that I rescued from a basement. I cannot find any makers mark on it. The heavy thick glass is embossed with TOP SPREDLITE TM REG US PAT OFF. The glass lense is apprx 15" and is all good free from any breaks or cracks. As is the complete unit. Comes with a bulb and the inside reflector looks great. The handles are stamped with numbers. This beauty stands apprx 25 1/2" tall to the top of the hinges. Apprx 23" wide from outside handle to the other handle. All original down to the wire. However the wire has been cut and will need to be rewired. Not sure if it still works but I see no reason why it wouldn't after being rewired. Has an awesome look& patina to it with the cast metal bracket ring and it's 3 hole foot base& handles.
