The first thing we did was to remove all the paint and give the light a very nice polish job. From there we fitted all the original conduit holes with a threaded plug and drilled a new hole on the top of the light so the new wiring con exit the light and be completely hidden. We also added that cool looking copper deflector cover to improve the looks of the light when mounted to the ... moreceiling. All the old wiring was removed and all new wiring and a new bulb holder made by Westinghouse Electric has been installed. The wiring and bulb holder is UL-Listed and rated to work with any voltage under 250 volts. The new bulb holder takes a common screw in house bulb of 75 watts or less. When mounted to the ceiling. This light will extend down about 8 inches. To access the bulb area, you just spin off the cage, and then spin off the undamaged glass globe. The base of the light is about 4 1/2 inches wide and the two mount hole lugs are 5 inches on center of each other. This light weighs right at 6 pounds. Antique Maritime Nautical Galvanized Metal & Copper Lantern body Fresnel Lens
This antique nautical lantern(fore lantern? was purchased at a river-side Estate Sale and had been used as part of the rustic maritime decor in the home's spacious family room. It is 13 1/2" tall(not counting the ring to hang it by) and 6 1/2" in diameter. It weighs nearly 5 pounds. There is no battery; however. The wires are present. The copper needs cleaning and the galvanized metal is weathered. The Fresnel lens seems to be in perfect condition once cleaned up(1st photo is cleaned lens; last photo is uncleaned lens. zipedit] Description• This is a fantastic vintage 1930-40's era Nautical Maritime ceiling light fixture. The thick pressed glass shade has a soft pink finish with clear glass sailboats and anchors. The clear glass rim has a rope design and the bottom has a fabulous starburst sunburst compass pattern. The ceiling canopy has been refinished and has a copper colored metal ships wheel cover attached to a clear pressed glass telescope. The fixture has also been refinished and uses 3 bead chains that hold and suspend the shade. It has been completely rewired with a new porcelain socket and wiring. The glass shade measure 10.25" wide and is in excellent vintage condition with no chips. Cracks or loss of finish. It hangs 9" from ceiling to bottom of the shade and can be adjusted slightly higher or lower with the chains. Beautiful original condition but untested and will likely need restoration in order to function at 100% The glass measures approx. 6" in diameter and the COPPER housing is nearly 6 1/2" deep. The unit is approximately 17" tall from top to bottom. THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE WEIGHS NEARLY 7 POUNDS! Now that's a lot of copper! Because of it's QUALITY EARLY AMERICAN BUILD The mechanical functions work very well. Push the handle up and down and the lamp housing aims upwards and downwards. RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN MARITIME NAUTICAL COPPER RIVET
Up for sale is RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN. This is such a great find because as just stated it is UNMODIFIED. Meaning it has NOT been converted over to electric. This lamp features a brass body with handmade copper rivets. All the hardware(rivets. Hinges, hasps, etc) appear to be hand made/forged. The ANCHOR brass label is applied on the top section which opens to expose the burner. The hook and chain to secure the hinged top are still intact. There is also a hinged top cap for flame inspection. When you open the top cap you will see that the chimney is triple insulated. It has a Frenzel type lens which appears to be old and original glass. The oil tank and burner assembly fits snug inside the lantern. Upon removal of the burner assembly from the oil tank. The wick is new and the inside of the oil tank has no residue ... moreor oil smell, suggesting it has to have been either cleaned very thoroughly(with several areas inside the tank unreachable) or possibly never used! Even though it seems to be the latter of the two options we still say possibly due to now documentation or provenance on the lantern beyond the current owner. This lack of evidence of use is consistent with inside of the metal chimney where no obvious traces of soot can be found. The base has aspiration vents all around it. The burner's wick knob has the words"SHERWOODS LTD. B'HAM MADE IN ENGLAND" on it. Making this from the very early 1900s at the latest from what we can find on the company. We have no reason to believe that this burner insert is anything but original to the lantern. Meaning we believe the lantern to be from the same time period. If anyone knows any different please share with us. In use this lamp would have been hauled up the ship's mast with halyards. To secure it as such. The lamp is equipped with substantial brass bail handles on the top and bottom. These are attached to heavy cast brass brackets riveted to the body of the lamp. A pair of port and starboard kerosene ships running lights. I call them"old" since I suspect my brother bought them in a foreign country many years ago when he was in the merchant marine. I hesitate to call them"authentic" since they have plates on them which state: Port. Starboard. I don't think real sailors need to be reminded what the red and green lenses denote. They are constructed of copper/brass/bronze, appear to be plastic green/red lenses, approximately 12.5 inches high, 7.5 inches across. Old Copper Nautical "Masthead" Light - Electric Wired Hall Light???
This auction is for a copper. Electric wired nautical light marked"Masthead" on the top. It fits flush to the wall from a bracket. The bracket is missing, but it can be purchased at any hardware store. The height of this light is 4 inches. The metal is copper, but there also may be brass and tin. It has an old patina which I did not try to polish. There are remnants of white paint that I also did not try to remove. The back door swings open for easy access to the inside. I think the glass is actually plexiglass. It has been rewired and has a new 15W bulb. It works. I left the wire bare because I think this is a hall light. I know absolutely nothing about this little treasure, but it appears to be old and authentic. This is the classic solid copper anchor lamp used on sailing ships for hundreds of years. The lamp is hand machined in pure heavy-gauge copper with brass trim. Comes with burner and a bit of wick. The Fresnel style lens is made to magnify the oil lamp light to be visible for 20 nautical miles. The Anchor lamp is named for it's use. A 360 o white light is required to be displayed at the highest point(the tallest mast) on all vessels at anchor or under way at night. These oil burning lanterns were made to be lit. Hoisted to the top of the mast with one rope tied to the handle and a 2nd rope tied to the bottom bail to keep it from swaying as the ship rolls with the sea. A very nice lamp. Ready to use. RARE Trio Vintage Ships Lantern Lamps Tung Woo Genuine Nautical Copper Brass
For sale is a trio of vintage lamps made using vintage copper and brass ship's lanterns made by Tung Woo of Hong Kong. The lamps have different colors of glass; green. Red, and clear(yellowish) The 3 ship lanterns are the same size, but one of them(with the clear glass) is primarily brass, is mounted on a taller wooden base, and is made into a lamp in a different style, making it taller than the other 2 lamps. The lanterns on the 2 small lamps appear to be primarily made of copper. The tops of the lanterns all open. The 2 smaller lanterns have silver-colored(chrome? reflectors installed behind the bulbs. The lamps all have 3-way switches, for lighting either 1) top bulb only, 2) lantern small bulb only, or 3) both bulbs. MEASUREMENTS 9 in height of each lantern(approx. 6 in width of each lantern(approx. Large lamp(1) 28 in height(to top ... moreof finial) Smaller lamps(2) 21 in height(to top of finials) The 3 lamp shades are only in fair condition, and are shown in the photos for illustrative purposes only- they aren't included in the listing. The larger lamp has a new cord, socket, and plug. I haven't rewired the 2 smaller lamps- and although I see no visible damage, as with all electrical items I sell, I recommend having the wiring checked by a professional, and replaced if recommended. VINTAGE COPPER/BRASS AMBER GLASS NAUTICAL MARITIME SHIP OIL LANTERN
I believe this to be a vintage ship/nautical/maritime oil lantern in good condition. Made of copper, brass and a amber/yellowish tinted globe shaped glass w/ no cracks or chips. The lantern measures 11"H x 7.5"W and has a small removable oil lantern that enters the lantern through a small hole in the base of the lantern. I left the metal the way I found this piece and only cleaned up the glass globe. I do not see any reason why this lantern would not function properly. Antique Copper & Brass Ships Navigation Light Nautical Marine Maritime Piling
Up for auction is a rare Vintage Copper& Brass Ships Navigation Light. Has a nice patina if you like that or should clean up nicely. This is electric and is supplied with a heavy duty cord. The top handle piece and vertical bars are brass. Along with the front plate, the rest is copper. The plate reads"All Around Green" BT 400" NK 77" The top handle reads"IP 56" On the glass are the words"IMCO R.I.N.A 5/1638-1648 DHI 09/03/76" Etched in the glass is BT13474(I'm thinking this is the ships inventory# Measures 13.5" tall including handle. Base is 8 1/4" x 8 1/4" Nice solid piece, almost 10 pounds. Glass is thick with no chips or cracks. Lights up beautifully. Small dent on one side at the bottom. These copper and brass reproduction ships lamps are the ultimate touch for any marine themed room. Office or restaurant. Antique Copper and Brass Nautical "Anchor" Oil Lantern 14" - Vintage
Anchor" vintage antique nautical 14 inch lamp. Still functional. Bulb on the inside is broken. It was dropped but is still some-what together. Very unique lamp. Still retains the smell of old kerosene. No serious dents, scratches, or breaks(besides the bulb) Also has the wick still in the lamp.
