The wick rolls up and down freely and appears to be about new. There is no oil or kerosene. This was part of my grandparent's estate. The glass panels are intact. Antique Nautical Maritime Brass Ship Cargo Kerosene Lamp Lantern Vintage Heavy
This lantern is approximately 5.5" x 5.5" x 14.5" and weighs almost 6 lbs. All glass in intact with no cracks. It has a wedge burner. I have not tried to use it. It has been used in the past as there is soot at the top. Please see pictures for further condition. It appears shinier in the pictures than it really is. I have not cleaned it or polished it.

This Vintage Brass Marine Lantern is marked English Made on the wick adjuster. It measures 16 1/2 by 7 3/4 inches. It is hand crafted with rivets and solder. The work shows very good quality. It is in very good condtion with a couple of very small hard to find dents. The top and the globe unscrew to fill the tank. They are stuck with old fuel varnish and I do not intend to forcefully remove them. The wick moves up and down when the wheel is turned. The glass plates and globe are very good. It measures approximately 15" tall(not including handle) and 6.5" square(not including fittings/external bars) The lid is closed by a latch and clip. Open this to expose the inner chimney. Which can be easily removed by pulling up on the two brass handles in opposing corners. The chimney is in like new condition and the wick raiser works like a dream. There are four outer glass panes that easily slide in and out for cleaning. They are crystal clear and in very good condition with no visible chips. The rivets on this lantern are copper. A couple dents on the top but nothing major, the glass is all good with no chips or cracks, the handles are fine and they are the original ones, the rods that protect the glass are also all good, it is a great piece. This lantern/lamp holder measures 15" tall not including the handles, it is about 7" wide from rod to rod and you can fit a normal size lamp inside, you don't have to have a glass chimney, because it already has side glass panels.
