This is a nice old brass ship's oil lantern. Each side has glass. With an X in brass on the outside. The top is hinged and is held shut by a large screw. The Wedge burner is removable and still has a wick and functioning knob. The top piece has some dents as pictured. The height is 9-1/2 inches and it is 4-1/8 inches square. From an estate sale is this very unique Antique Vtg Brass Wall Mounted Oil or Kerosene Lamp. It measures 15" tall and is about 5" at its widest. The two glass window panes are intact and there is a panel that you open to access the wick of the lamp. The wick does move up and down ... moresmoothly and you remove the top to access the oil reservoir. There are no dents in the brass or damage just normal wear as seen in photos. You simply mount the round brass circle to the wall and slip the oil lantern into it. I've never seen one quite like this one and I hope I'm right that it is nautical because it certainly looks and feels like it is to me:o) Actual shipping is $24.90 to anywhere in the US or Canada. Antique Brass Ships Lantern Old Glass Metal Reflector No Burner No Makers Mark Here is a great old ship's lantern for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. The lantern appears to be made of mostly brass with the exception of the reflector piece. Glass and the heat distributor in the top. There is no makers mark on the piece that I can ascertain. I think it was a Steampunk or Perko. How's about you expert's out there. What are your thoughts? Your identity will be kept anonymous. Thanks. The makers mark was probably on the bottom of the burner that is no longer with the lantern. A couple of the solder joints for the cage across the glass are no longer in place. The glass in the lantern looks good. No blistering or cracks and appears wavy at the right angle. Check out the solid brass handle on this lantern. ... moreNo simple cheap wire handle on this one! The metal reflector plate is still in the lantern. Some corrosion to its' finish in places. Looks like the lantern was dropped at one time and the top bracket was bent in. It weighs a little over 12 pounds. I'm not sure if it's copper or brass. It's also very LARGE. It measures about 13 1/2" tall, 13 3/4" wide and is approximately 9 1/2" deep from each corner to the back. It was a originally a kerosene or oil ship's lantern. It's an amazing light! It's in excellent working condition, it's been newly re-wired& has an antique switch in the front(converted to electric) The switch is turned to right each time you want to turn it off or no. It has a removable red port glass(see photos of it turned on, with and without the red glass) The clear glass has a small 1/2" chip in one of the ... moreribbed sections; it's a very heavy thick glass so this does not compromise anything. Near the top of the lamp there's an emblem that has the numbers"3883" There is also some etching on both the clear and red glass. I wonder if this belonged to a military ship. As most items on those ships were marked with serial#s etc. The writing on each glass piece says"DHJE 3883, No. 654, E.31.5.61" It's not very noticable and you can't see it unless you really look; it's not seen when the light is on. Condition wise.it's vintage! There are a few dings& dents. Some areas of wear etc.but considering it was a ship light, it's going to have a weathered old look, which I personally prefer. Anchor Ships Lantern(Not a Reproduction) This is a very large antique ships lantern marked as"Anchor" To the best of my knowledge it has all parts needed to burn oil. Please view pictures to augment my description. It is not electrified and it is NOT a reproduction. Lamp measures a stately 23" to top of handle. 18" tall without handle and at its widest a 10" diameter. With the exception of a dent in the brass at the base the lantern is in excellent condition. Lantern inner chimney has a couple of chips and a crack at the bottom where it sits in base. This can be easily replace but I beleive that this one is original so I will not replace. Offered here is this beautiful antique brass ship maritime marine lamp. It is in original untouched condition. It may need to be cleaned or polished but I am selling it as is as some collectors like things in original condition and also. I wouldn't know what cleaner to use so as not to ruin the natural patina. The light still has the original wiring intact. There are no chips or cracks to the glass that I can see. The protective cage around the glass globe is intact. The lamp is in overall nice condition. Here is a D.H.R. Dean Haan of Rotterdam. The lantern is brass. Not polished, has patina. On the bottom is the makers mark, Made in Holland. On either side it is embossed with a windmill. The lantern stands about 11" and 5 1/4" wide. On the back is a key hole notch for hanging. The wick is still intact and the turn knob works. The glass chimney is about 10 1/4" tall and the base is 2" wide. On the chimney is written cristal Prima. There are some spots of tarnish and a small scuff in the front. Otherwise, in good condition. A brass"MASTHEAD" plaque surmounts the hood of this VINTAGE NAUTICAL LANTERN. It stands 14-1/2 inches tall. Not including handle. Features CURVED GLASS LENS and curved metal reflector plate, Sturdy brass mounting brackets on back- presumably for affixing to the mast of a sailing ship. Constructed of brass, glass, and brass plating over- judging from the tarnish- probably copper? This is most likely an older decorative reproduction. It's rendition is very faithful. And lantern is functional. The base unscrews to take a CANDLE- either one with a wide base, or a taper inserted into your own socket(no disrespect intended) OR. The lantern is brass with glass panels on each side and a loop on the top to hang the lantern. Interior of the lantern has reflectors on the top and an oil compartment that has been electrified. The light housing is removable from the lantern. Top of the lantern is marked with"Clipper Ship Lamp. No. 1255. Dumbarton. Scotland. 1869. There are brass rods across the glass panels and the panels can easily be seen through. This lantern is believed to be original based on the fact that this lantern has reflector plates and has a thick. Brass data plate. This lantern is approximately 5.5" x 5.5" x 14.5" and weighs almost 6 lbs. All glass in intact with no cracks. It has a wedge burner. I have not tried to use it. Lantern has maker marks of"S.Co.Ltd. 1941" Im not sure if this is a ship lantern, railway lantern or what- I dont know much about these. Lantern is in great condition and all pieces seem to be there. Lantern measures 20" tall with handle extended up. The wick key is attached to side and wick turn knob works good. No broken glass on paynes and side door works good. Nice Old Brass Nautical Ship Lamp with Red Clear & Green Glasses NO RESERVE
Measures approx. 9-1/2" high to top of cap and 11-3/4" to top of handle. Made entirely of brass with glass lenses. The only marking or name that I could find anywhere is"THE MILLER CO. U.S.A. on the wick adjustment knob. And one side of the wick cover is signed"1925. This lantern apparently was electrified at one time, as there is a small hole neatly punched through the backside near the base. Otherwise it is complete and needs only light cleaning and polishing. A good old one, probably 1920-1940 vintage. I will combine shipping whenever possible, and normally will ship worldwide within one day of receiving payment. R.I. residents must add 7% sales tax. This belonged to my Uncle and he had it for roughly 30-40 years. He lived on the lake in upper Michigan. So that’s why I think it’s a nautical lamp. But I’m not really sure. The top opens and shuts, and the base turns to unlock and open. The last thing my Uncle had in the base was a 2-1/4" citronella insect repellent oil candle(shown in photo as an example. This Vintage Brass Marine Lantern is marked English Made on the wick adjuster. It measures 16 1/2 by 7 3/4 inches. It is hand crafted with rivets and solder. The work shows very good quality. It is in very good condtion with a couple of very small hard to find dents. The top and the globe unscrew to fill the tank. They are stuck with old fuel varnish and I do not intend to forcefully remove them. The wick moves up and down when the wheel is turned. The glass plates and globe are very good. I am selling a unique working vintage brass nautical passage light with red glass. It measures 15" from the top of the brass hook to the bottom brass hook and 4 1/2" wide.
