Great Matching Pair of Old. Marine Ship's Lantern Lamps. These look like Brass.and they also look like Bronze.I can't be sure. I DO know that the Handles are Bronze. I am estimating that these probably date back to Late World War I or Early World War II and may well have been used on military vessels and/or Merchant marine vessels. They are Electric and have Rotating Shutters both on the body and in the bottoms of the lamps. In this way, the light could be closed off both from the sides and the bottoms as need be.kind of an early manual rheostat. These both Measure 8" Tall to the top of the Threaded, Screw-in Lid. The lid, itself measures 3 3/4" Diameter and has a 1 1/2" tall Wire Pass-through apparatus. To the top of the extended handle measures 12" The Base of the lantern measures 5 1/2" Diameter. Each of ... morethese Weigh a hefty 8 3/4 Lbs. Both lids have the Original Removable Light Bulb Sockets. Condition: Number THREE(see pics) is 100% Complete in that it has the little handle sticking off of the side of the rotating shutter for ease of opening and closing the shutter. Number ONE is missing that little handle. That's the only difference. The bottom slide on Number ONE is bent a bit but because it's made of very thin brass. It can EASSILY be pressed back into shape.I'll leave that up to the winning bidder along with re-wiring them. I removed the old cut-off wire stumps that were in the housings and needed to go but I'm not going to re-wire them.that's for you to do. It's a no-brainer.stick the wire through the housing, stick the ends of your bared wire in the set screws.tighten and Voila! Up for auction is a antique Perko mounted type lantern. The lantern measures approximately 11 inches tall and approximately 5 inches wide. There is some rust throughout and the inside portion seems to be missing. There is a large crack that runs diagonally down the glass lens. The lantern has been painted green but appears to be galvanized metal. There is a oval copperplate on the back that reads Perko De Lite known the world over. Perkins ML company Brooklyn New York.

This auction is for a Vintage Nippon Sento Lantern. In very nice original condition. I see no damage or dents to any of the brass body. The winner can leave the patina look or polish it to a high luster brass binish. There is no damage to any of the glass. There is a thick outer clear glass. Thick red filter glass and a thin hurricane glass over the wick. The only problem I can see is the clear outer globe has hard water build up and should be cleaned and polished. Also the vent adjusting knob is stuck. Maybe needs WD40. This lantern still has a wick in it. I think it just needs fuel to work. Primitive Antique Kerosene Marine Ship Boat Signal Lantern Lamp
This is an interesting old lantern. Made from tin and with a glass lens. It reads BOAT SIGNAL LANTERN on the front. When you open the lens, there is a spring loaded lever that slides back to reach the burner. Mirrored on the back side of this. I see no maker marks. The lantern measures 8 3/4" in height and is 3 1/2" in diameter across the bottom. Original black paint shows quite a bit of wear, but the lantern is intact. Neat old lantern. This is a vintage Ship Lantern that say's on the knob inside the glass The National Marine Lamp Co. I showed a picture but it is difficult to read as the writing is very small. This piece was purchased at an estate sale from an avid collector and they told me it has been hanging in their kitchen for over 40 years and they had purchased it from an antique store. The electric light receptacle is for a double contact bayonet type bulb. OLD MARINE CABIN LANTERN ELECTRIC CONVERSION
Great marine cabin lamp. Clear glass lantern. This lamp has a real nice dark patina. The lamp has been converted to electric with a standard ceramic base 110V light fixture at the top end. The lamp is 10" tall with a 4 1/2" diameter base. It weighs 2 lbs. Wire pigtails are 12" long. The photos are a true reflection of the coloring. I cannot find a makers mark. Material could be copper, not sure. There are no dings or dents and no cracks in the glass. This is a great nautical theme lamp. Thanks for looking here.

These are items they've kept in storage- they were collectors of anything and everything old, unusual or beautiful starting their collections back in the 1950s. Or to be more specific, a Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware ... moreCo. distress or signal lantern circa about 1915-1925. It is made of galvanized steel and brass- all galvanized steel except for a brass top and brass burner which were polished quite some time ago. The lantern shows old solder repairs. Has a little bit of surface rust here and there, but is otherwise really clean. The fitted burner seems to be very good condition. Is a Plume and Atwood and on the thumb wheel it reads"P&A Mfg Co, Waterbury. Conn. Made in U.S.A. Plume& Atwood made the burners for Perko and many other makers. This lantern has NOT been electrified. The clear globe is marked PERKINS 8 and while it has a little dust. It shows NO damage and is protected by 8 wire guards that are firmly in place(some have some surface rust) The base has two tie-down clips. Although he never used it. This had been hanging in my father's workshop many years ago and I just presumed it had been sold or lost until June when I discovered it had been packed away. The lantern measures about 14.5" tall without the loop standing up(about 16" tall with the loop up) Is about 9.5" wide looking down on it and measuring it wire guard to wire guard. The base measure

The lens is heavy red glass and can be seen from all sides(360 degrees) The lantern works off of oil or kerosene. The reservoir and wick are in tack and working. The Perkins metal tag is still in place(too dark to get into photo) There are some small nicks and I can see what looks like brass under the black paint. I believe the paint is original to the lantern. The lantern is heavy. Over 7 pounds. Lanterns like this were used on large ships as a warning light or bow light. This large all-weather lantern was likely made for maritime use in the late 19th or early 20th century and held a single large candle protected behind five removable panes of glass that each measure 3 1/2" x 8" It is an unusually large and durable design that is typical of use in industry. The lantern stands 13 1/2" in height(17 1/2" with the wooden handle raised) and 7 7/16" in diameter at the base. It weighs 4 lbs, 12 oz. The metal is copper in color but is magnetic and so most likely tin. The hinged lid with a lockable clasp opens and closes smoothly, and reveals the interior black paint to be in very good condition. This auction is for 2 Vintage Seahorse Ship Lights. With no reserve. There are no burners in the lanterns, the auction includes what is shown. The lanterns show wear, have some paint drips, appear to have been repainted, have chips and scratches and can be seen in the eighteen(18) pictures below. I see no holes in the metal and they appear solid. The lanterns are 22" tall not including the handle and are 14" wide- left side corner to right side corner. The Port lantern is missing the"T" screw at the side bracket. The Starboard lantern has the"T" screw in the side bracket. Perkins Marine Lantern - Cranberry glass
This handsome lantern was probably part of a set. This red lantern would have indicated the port(left) side and an accompanying green lantern would have indicated the starboard(right t)side of the ship It is 16 1/2" tall; the red globe is 7" in diameter and the surrounding cage is 9" in diameter. The entire burner assembly is included. In working order. The company that made the lantern was started in the early 1900's under the name of the founder, Frederick Perko, who shortly thereafter changed his name and the company's to Perkins. In the third photo, some of the 1/2" high letters'PERKINS' can be made out.

It won't break my heart if I don't sell this item. I'll keep it and rig it up to become the coolest porch light in the neighborhood. A balloon cage ship's deck lamp made by the Perkins Marine Lamp and Hardware Corporation of Brooklyn. New York. This company is still going strong- a 5th generation family business now based in Florida and under the name of Perko Inc. Perko is also the product name of this item. This lamp is about 22 inches tall. And the diameter of the cage is about 14 inches. The red glass ball is slightly larger than a volleyball and slightly less than a basketball. The fuel canister is in working order- the wick rises and falls with the turn of the handle. the vessel doesn't look to have any leaks. Check the condition report and the photos for the problems this lamp has. Brass parts as well as the majority ... moreof the metal being perhaps a galvanized aluminum or thin steel. Two sets of two loops on either side of the lamp- I would assume the loops are there so the lamp can be mounted to something. This nifty vintage lantern could easily be converted to an electrical lamp if a buyer would choose to do so; or. Leave it original using some lamp oil to fill the canister and fuel the light. I disassembled everything and had the metal parts dipped to remove decades of paint and crud. And then sprayed the metal parts with clear matte acrylic. The objective was to just clean it up; not to make it look new nor“restored” At that time we had a waterfront weekend place on Bethel Island. CA, in the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta area. During the wiring to accommodate 110/120V“shore power” I installed a small pull-chain switch at the bottom of the lantern. Here’s how it worked: If the adults were gathered round the table sippin. Dippin. And grinnin, we might prefer the red“mood light” only. If the kids were playing checkers. They would pull the chain to activate the down-light. There is ample space for a Par38 halogen floodlight. The beacon is lighted by three other internal lamp sockets illuminating the Fresnel lens. Hanging chain and canopy(as shown) included. This listing is for a vintage Perkins PERKO Marine boat Kerosene Lamp. Finding one in better condition than this one will be a challenge. The lamp is made of Galvanized metal and has a Brass Top/Finial and the Kerosene lights hardware is made of Brass. The Dark Green and red lens are made of Glass and are chip and damage free. The design of this lamp is different than most others. The inside hardware is accessible from the bottom of the lamp only. It has ingenious spring loaded tabs of each side. If you want to pull out the hardware you simply squeeze the tabs and pull the hardware out. As you can see from the photo's the Brass hardware is in excellent condition and includes what is probably the original wick.I think this lamp has spent most of it's life indoors. Vintage Wm Porter's Sons Co Marine Ships Lantern Nautical Clear - RARE!!!!
Offered for auction is a very rare marine/ ships lantern. Bow light or Dock lantern. Made by the Wm Porter's Sons Co. Probably in the mid-to-late 1800. Wm. Porter was a long-time naval/navy man. In 1823. At the age of 12, he signed on as a midshipman on his uncle's ship, the Franklin. 11 years later he was commissioned as a lieutenant. From 1838 to 1840 he served as lighthouse inspector on the east coast. Ultimately he reached the rank of Commodore in the US Navy and commanded the USS St, Mary's and the USS Essex In 1942 the destroyer William D. Porter was named in his honor. Originally an oil lamp. Marine - Nautical Lantern With 100 ft. Attached Water Proof Cord - Works Great
I was told this is a Marine Lantern that is waterproof. This lamp has some weight to it. About 16 pounds. I plugged it in during a heavy rain shower and it lit right up. Stayed lit for 12 minutes as the water pounded it until I unplugged it. I got wet enough. It works fine. Do not know exactly what it is for but you probably do. I found no name on it.
